Shoot I almost forgot!

Good Luck to all those running the 20 K tomorrow and any long runs today.

Oh and Timr: Be good to those Canadians>

Winter, my left hip is geratric as well. I just got up to get some water and could barely move. Oof.

I'm back from my 6M, it felt awesome! Nice, cool 53* out there this morning. My plans today are to hang out with DH all day since he leaves tomorrow for 3 weeks straight. Ugh!

I agree with the others, Scratch, you are doing an awesome job these days!

Like everyone else seems to be saying, wow what an awesome morning. The weather could not be any better.

Just came back from 12 miles. Met up with a nice guy at around mile 4 who was training for Steamtown. Got in six or so with him and then turned around and came back. It was great to run with someone else and made the run so much easier. I have to find more people to run with. I have a terrible habit of running too fast when I'm alone and being with someone who runs at the pace I need to be at makes things much better.

Anyhow I finished up this week with 46 miles. Not bad for LL. August's total was 178. Pretty good for week 7 of marathon training with a week of vacation in August thrown in there.

Congrats on those runs Scratch and Winter. You both are progressing impressively.

We spent yesterday swimming at my BIL's house. Heather, I would have called you but I knew you were away. My in-laws were there too and they followed us back last night and spent the night. They just departed.

Busy day on tap today. Heading to EMS in a bit to pick up some camping supplies. I'm taking DD1 and DD2 camping next weekend. Then it's a neighbor's birthday party (1 yr. old) followed by sushi for dinner. Tomorrow we have a horse show and then bbq and my father's country club.

Good luck to all the New Haven racers (Maria, Bob, Baggs and Brandy right?)

Guess that's all from me.

Morning all!
Didn't even bother to check back last night after the thread was down during the day. Ah well...

I got in 4 tough miles yesterday running with KP around the 'hood. I think I run a little fast with him, so I was wiped out by the end. But all-in-all a good run.

Yesterday was a great day for us. We went to the Gap outlet (WITH a coupon no less ) and then to the New Holland Brewing Company. I had the cider and KP had the IPA. Seriously good stuff!! AND we lucked into joining the Mug Club! Rock and Roll

Not quite so much excitement today: going to see the Bourne Ultimatum and then some sale shopping.
Later peeps!!!

Good luck runners!!

Thank you to everyone who has said good things about my long run yesterday.

I'm also pleased to say that I just put my registration through for the half-marathon in Philadelphia on November 18th. It seemed like a good idea since the price was going to jump 15 dollars more on the 4th of September.

Barring unforeseen misfortune or injury, I'll be running in Philadelphia.

G'morning all - just fueling up before I head off on my bike ride for this morning. Better get out there soon - it'll be mid-90s out there soon (not quite Cactus-hot temperature wise, but still...)

Good luck to all our racers (Bob, Baggs, Brandy, Maria...anyone else?)

Maureen - nice run! And glad you found a dress for yourself; of course, we'll need pics of your ravishing self in the new wardrobe

roo - I sure hope it's something minor. Better take the car out later today to see if anything's changed engine-wise

You have a nice way of spinning things Winter - is it too late to take camp signups? And BTW, great run! You and Scratch are building the mileage quite nicely

Later folks!

Yea! Yea!

So every once in a while, I get sick of schedules and I just want to run.

Yesterday was my long run of 7, today was supposed to be recovery, so I didn't expect much. The schedule said 4--anything less/more would do.

I ran 8 miles in 1:18:07!! It was NOT pretty by the time I got to six today--I was dragging. I said out loud, "God..this is hard". My new mantra came flying out of my mouth immediately afterwards: "Hard is good." By 7.5, I was really done, but decided to stumble through the last 1/2 mile just to finish it.

I'm tempted next weekend to see how far I can go with a good rest day behind me. Then again, maybe not.

Can't wait to hear RR's and hope everyone else had cooler weather...??

11 miles. done. sweatin' like 10 whole men. 43 miles for the week, weekly high for me. Finished August with 148 miles, another record. Feeling pretty good.

Winter - nice work, and wow! speedy!

Scratch - congrats on both the run yesterday and the registration.

Doc those pics are priceless.

Tonya mentioned Saturday's events, but let me tell you sitting in the bar with all the Michigan fans was nice! And the Mug Club...sweet deal, $40 for the year, all kinds of discounts, invites to special events, etc, so we ask about what it takes to join, guy tells us there are 34 names on the waiting list and do we want to add ours to it. We say yes. He comes back like 30 seconds later and says "if you want to pay today we have openings" Hell Yeah. Some of the special discounts: 12 oz mug of any of their mainstays $2.50, Tuesdays growlers filled for $4 (regular on Tuesday is $5), free admission to their Autumnfest, Mad Hatter Days, and special events for just the club members.

"Hard is good."

Wow.

Just back in from 10 miles in about 1:25. A beautiful day, but I wasn't feeling it today.

Can't wait to read the race reports.

So, I checked out the park where Saturday's race is. Nice little beach, nice trails - at least as far as I walked they were nice, imagine running on them won't even be too bad. The bike is going to suck if there's a lot of traffic, but hopefully, there won't be.

Now the only question I have left is what really is the benefit of the wetsuit? I tried on my friend's, it fits fine and will definitely work but what's the actual reasoning behind using one? I can see how starting out in the swim will be much easier, but getting it off afterwards. . .not as much fun.

Ideas? Thoughts? Anything?!

Ummm.....from a one-time racer, here are my thoughts.

Practical - flotation. Wetsuits are basically floaties for grownups.

Transition time effect - Almost none. The bigger problem for me was
getting my feet dry enough to jam my socks on.

Intangible - makes you feel like a pro. Plus, really no matter what you think, you will look mad hot in one! Think of the greater good, here Mary....you know, it's not always about what you want.
