It was fucking windy out at 7AM, I can't imagine how much worse it will get... and what is IRONIC - is that we ran the <b>Lee Bridge</b> the opposite way that the Richmond Marathon goes on the Lee Bridge... and we still had a headwind... 95% of the time if you run the Lee Bridge going South you are blessed with a tailwind... not today... today it was a gail force 40MPH headwind, followed by hills from hell on Riverside drive. Yeah... I was planning on 14... yeah... I cut it to the group run length of 12.25.

I'm glad I paid some dude to put my shutters on better... they used to always blow down... I paid some fly by night handyman who does a lot of work in my neighborhood to bolt those little f_ckers on better... glad I did this wind is crazy.

Gaela - sorry to hear about the tree <img alt="sad.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/sad.gif"> Haven't had to live through that one yet, so I gots no advice. We had a tree at our old house that kept dropping MASSIVE Limbs on our old fence, so I got really good at fence repair that's about it.<br><br>
So far - lots of our neighbors have lost siding, flashing and shingles... I don't think we have lost any yet... but damn it's bad out there... I'm kind of scared to go look. We are in the remnants of a cornfield which is good from the aspect of - no large trees around... but that means no shelter from the wind either... so the winds just whip through. One time our neighborhood made the news because high winds put a trampoline into a guys house... the trampoline was carried on full yard over, over a fence, and up into the leg poked through the second floor master closet. YIKES...

Wow Gaela... I'm considering myself lucky... I'm going to have to replace the shingles on my dormer above the garage... but so far that's it. All flashing and siding still in tact.<br><br>
My neighbor has a giant piece of flashing that is about to fall (hopefully not on my car).

Gaela - there is a gland that some dogs discharge when they are scared... it's really really nasty - much worse than a normal fart... it smells more like raw sewage than fart... Jaeger dog has let those off before when he's startled... it sucks...

Oh yeah.... This is for Alemma - this is Jaeger Dawg:<br><br><img alt="" src="http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z92/pureguts/Jaeger_December_2006.jpg" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br><b>Ty and Nicole</b> hope your days get better - beer and or wine will help I'm sure. I'm about to have one myself...

Boxers are strong and a high energy breed as well. I've heard they are also great running dogs!<br><br><br><b>Nicole</b> I'll give him a kiss for you later... he just ate, so his breath is well... not so nice... but probably less foul than Gaela's dog's butt <img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif">

Wow that's awesome!<br><br>
DW found 'running socks' for our son (almost 3) - his feet get really hot and sweaty in cotton socks, so she stumbled on these thin coolmax like socks. She told him they were just like Daddy's running socks... so now when he puts them on he tells me they are his running socks. His Elmo Skate shoes are his 'running shoes' when he has all that on, he says "I'm going runnin' - ready set go "<br><br>
It's really cool that your DD has her own real running shoes though! Is she going to do any kids races anytime?

I don't know how it is down there, but around here there are lots of races that have "kids races" before or after the 'main event'. Sometimes it's a half mile or mile... sometimes they have a 1/4 mile for really little kids. I think it's great, it gets the kids involved, and while the winner does get a nice trophy, every one gets a ribbon, so they all feel involved.

I think if your not pressuring her that's good. If she wants to run, let her run (within reason of course). I think a 5k at 9 or 10 is perfectly reasonable IMO. There's an 11 year old girl in Richmond that can run a 19 minute 5k... <b>INSANE</b>. There's also a track club for kids in town, my friends daughter participates, she went to the AAU XC regionals. It's really cool because the XC distances are all relative to age, so the older kids do like a 5k XC race, the younger kids are between 2k and 4k depending on age.

Yeah... I was in a race with her, and she was in the same little 'echelon' I was in, and she just walked away from us at about mile 3. I finished just over 20, so I'm pretty sure she was around 19:50. I'm also pretty sure she was 11 at the time. Yeah... if she keeps that up, she'll have a free ride to a Div 1 school fer sure.
