He was a doofus....nuff said.

truth,

that's why I like wimmins.

your pal,

oache

As a general rule, of course not. My sister's DH is 7 years older, my brother's DW is 8 years younger. If you are compatible, what is age?

My personal preference is no more than 4 years younger and no more than 8 years older. But, I am willing to be flexible if I meet someone really cool and is a few years on either side of that equation.

I'm glad to see there is a strong consensus about it! I guess it sounds weird to me to think of a 42 yo as not too old (since 24- 9 years younger- would be WAY too young!) I think part of it is that I don't see myself as 33/adult, etc!

Kini, sorry it didn't work out for you. Seems like you have a very healthy attitude, though!

Go for it, Beth. I agree with all of the above... Age matters less and less the older we are.

Good afternoon/evening gang

Been busier that a one legged guy in an ass kicking contest since the minute I walked in the door.

Havent been able to catch up on the thread although I hope Beaker feels better and im glad phdatc got out of her spin out with just a racing heart.

Way too many qod's today. The ones I remember are about Christmas gifts ( not much creativitity out of me ) and winning a million bucks. Like most of you, id pay off the house and my debt, set up the kids college funds, pad my retirement nest egg and in general have a good time.

Beth all I can say about the 42 y/o is no thats not too old and he's a lucky guy

Give it a try Beth you never know...... he could be the one! I suppose you won't know unless you give it a shot. I hope you are happy together.

The midlife crisis thing. Older man wants way younger woman. *shrug*

I agree 100%

Thank you.

I will agree some are nice to have around, but most are not worth the trouble.

I will admit when we first split I did not have a good attitude at all. I was depressed and upset about the whole thing. It took some time, but I realized that he was an ass and I deserved better then that. I am in a much happier place with out him.

I hate my dissertation.

That is all.

[It's not fun, but it's not running either.]

Beth - If he were +/- 2 years, would you give it a shot? If yes, then why worry about a #?

Hmmm. I will be in the 30+ group shortly, and there us plenty of greying going on up top. Although thankfully no thinning.

gov - so glad to hear your brother's doing tons better
LL - hope you're feeling okay for fireman duties

And now for the ages...rock of ages...still rolling...rock rollin'
Colleen - 40, no big deal. Besides, you're 34 in McT years, and that's what counts
Beth - 42, no big deal. Besides, you're due for a good relationship, and this may be it
Of course, I'm 41 and I'd take almost any deal at this point (well, okay, not really, but still... )

Love it, Moon!

Beth, my parents are 9 years apart, but they're disfunctional despite 39.5 years of marriage. It takes all kinds, but if he makes you happy, why not?

QODcreative: This year I'm giving themed gifts:
PANiece#1 -- 2 HP books and jelly beans
PANephew -- binoculars, magnifying glass, trail mix, safari hat, bug book
PANiece#2 -- animal book, animal crackers, ? (don't want to buy another stuffed animal)
VANiece -- Mythology book, ?, ?
VANephew -- truck book, construction/truck stuff
I also create a family calendar from walmart.com and give to each family for the next year. The older generation likes it the best b/c they have pictures of the grandkids on the wall the entire year.

QOD$million: When I was hyperventilating on the ground after my 5k in August, I dictated my will to my friend (history of stroke in the family), and after about the 50th bequest, she said, "You don't really have that much money, do you?" Even the $million couldn't cover everything that I wanted to do with it.

Ok, I've read the thread instead of going back to the diss. Will try not to cry this evening.

Glad everyone is safe in spite of the weather!

I'm 34, and I've got plenty of silver hairs on top of my head (when my hair isn't dyed anyway). I noticed in the full-size version of my avatar photo that the top of my head "sparkled" a little. Didn't realize I had enough for it to be photographically noticeable.
