Hey all --
Not caught up on the thread yet. But I did see Winter's new avatar.

Big snowfall this weekend -- in Seattle!!! The whole town freaked out. Then, it was all gone by Sat. night. Today, there is so much rain, flooding has begun. Lovely.

Although, it did provide some good comic relief. Wherever there is a good dip in the road (intersections, storm drain areas that are overburdened, etc.) - gigantic puddles are forming. Taking DD to school this a.m., I see a guy standing at the corner of an intersection. HUGE puddle in front of him. Both lanes in front of me are taken, so the car nearest stoogeriffic has no choice but to drive partially through the puddle! 8 - 10 foot spray of water COMPLETELY covered the dude. Felt kinda bad for him, but it was his own fault.... DD couldn't stop laughing. One of those deep belly laughs that just FORCE you to laugh along... Goodness.

Scratch - I used to go see TC and the Young Rumblers at a local bar on LBI...

Near misses always suck - the thought of what almost happened is pretty nerve racking. It's better than the alternative though. Glad to hear you're okay.

(HH's reference to Office Space)

Actually, I'd rent a huge excavator, tear my house down and build what I want. I don't want to change where I live (5 acres on the side of a field - [I have a big porch]) - the construction issues with my house continue to beat me up. I'd also design in wind/solar (renewable) energy.
Then, I'd throw a kicking party and you'd be invited!
Other things....make some serious donations to my favorite charities, further DD's college fund, and maybe invest the rest.

Good question. I like Winter's answer...very charitable and right up my alley. Good for you.
I got nothin' here. I can't remember (big side effect from sleep deprivation).

I have not eaten today because I can not breath at all through my nose!! So when i try to eat I get all winded and it just sucks!! Phewey!!! Luckily I am almost done for the day.

Dh called to tell me he sat next to the Phillies owner at dinner last night. Said he was a really nice, very personable guy. Makes cheering for them that much more enjoyable, knowing the management is not a bunch of D-bags!!!!

I just realized today that I have vaca days left and just might be able to swing the whole week of Christmas off!!! Yipee!!!! Never had enough days for that before. But rumor has it vacas from now till March might get axed so we shall see!!!

I just talked to DS#1. He is complaining because they have already shoveled the deck and porch twice and they have to do it again. It has to be done before hubby gets home. Apparently the snow falling didn't click in their minds that maybe they should wait to shovel until he is almost home.
Actually......

I think it's hilarious that you enjoyed this enough to post. Makes me love you even more!! Very Calvin-esque!

Last year, during our only snow-storm, a bunch of us gathered at the window, and just . . . waited. There was a big hill, covered in ice. BIG-ASS sign saying "Do Not Enter - Snow Closure" Huge sign. Every single one that ignored it ended up sliding backward & crashing into a parked car, or another crashed car that had preceded it. Dumb. Ass.

Too funny.

speaking of seeing bands before they hit the national scene.

I used to go see a band called the Verve Pipe all the time in MI....either at Michigan State, or kalamazoo and I saw them in chicago at the cubby bear......I haven't seen them in years....

I caught 311 at the Hurricane in Kansas City and I used to go see Uncle Tupelo then Wilco and Son Volt when they still played in dives around St. Louis. My most favorite Wilco show EVAH was when they played at the Red Lion on Lincoln in Chicago. Tiny venue (since demolished, I believe); like Jeff Tweedy was singing just to me. swoon

I saw Dave Matthews in a little 2000 seat place (The Orpheum, for you Bostonians) in 1993 or 1994.
I saw The Mighty Mighty Bosstones downstairs at The Middle East (in Cambridge, MA...maybe 300 people?) later in '94.
