afternoon peeps

YIPPEE for missy and little tiger!! I saw the arrival on my iPHONE but couldn't post on this forum.

Great runs to Moonie (dude totally is a doppelganger for Voo!), Bob, PC, etc. forgive me if I miss someone but I am totally still sleep deprived.

Ragner went great minus the horrible weather. WI/MN was very soupy the past couple of days and unfortunately 2 of my 3 legs were in the meaty part of the day where us fair skinned northern folk wilt.

First leg was a 6.8 straight shot on the highway near Pepin WI. Not scenic, not shaded and not supported. I carried some gatorade with me but with the effort level, heat and the concentration of the gatorade, my stomach was SHOT after 4 miles and I started to feel really really ill. I walked 3 times that last 2.8 miles because I had no choice...NONE. It was either walk or pass out/throw up carp myself. blah. I was passed 3 times. Ended up with a 9:47 average.

Leg 2 was better quality but still not a good leg. I started at 5:22 am but ran mostly through Hudson WI so no really night running. Leg was short at 3.8 miles and some of it was on sidewalk (boo). At a little over 1 mile to go, I saw another runner ahead about .25 miles and I basically hammered the carp out of my quads down the massive downhill. I was near throwing up at 400 meters to go and tucked behind her for 200 meters just to catch my breath. Then, I kicked and flew by her right before the chute. So, passed 1 person, and was passed by a guy. Average 9:02 - last .8 was at a 8:18 pace.

Leg 3 was BRUTAL just due to the conditions (hot and humid again), time of day (starting at 2 p.m.) and the fact that I was wrecked from my downhill hammering. Course was the most scenic of the 3 started at Crosby farm park in St Paul and running along Shepard Road. After 1.5 or so, we descended into the trail system and it ended at Hidden Falls on the Mississippi. A member of our running group was biking along the course and picked me up right before the trail head and chatted with me the rest of the way. Man that really helped. I kept a good pace 9:31 and roadkilled 2 MEN (woot!). One guy did pass me but the leg was a net positive!!

The relay was a blast. We had a great van of girls (6 girls in a van for 24 hours and NO fights

), a lot of silliness and some good running. The weather was not good. Between the heat, humidity and then the FOG at night, it was pretty sketchy at times but we didn't have any big issues and I didn't hear about any major incidents race wise.

I slept over 14 hours and I am still tired now. Man. I lifted at 1 and was sure that they upped the weight on all of the exercises. they did not. I am a wreck! I am going to go and nap now
