I think I love my orthotics. Yesterday was the first day since August where my foot did not hurt with every step. I think it's going to be a bit longer before I actually run in them since I'm still getting used to the devices (I don't think you break-in orthotics, they break-in you), but just knowing that pain relief finally is a possibility has me believing that I'll be running again soon. That makes me less cranky!

Today we got our year-end bonus at work. My company had a good year, and I had a really good year. Mrs. Labduck gets a new car next year. She deserves it after having to put up with my elevated crankiness level the past six months.

There's a house near the turn-around on one of my usual runs where I've had the exact same thought!

If the site goes down again and anyone's wanting to connect, there's always e-mail. I checked mine two or three times yesterday.

Holly, I'll take care of the beers for you tonight ... enjoy the game!

Did everyone see the sock/shoe poll? Weigh in!

No run for me today. I did 30 minutes of yin yoga via DVD. I was supposed to be doing what the demonstrator was doing, but you wouldn't know it to see me .... oh well!

Have a wonderful and safe weekend!

today is DD's 22nd birthday ... she is away at school. Every year we take a silly picture to send to her. Here is this year's

now let's be clear senator mitchell, i'm not accusing active.com of hacking kick. at least not until i get a new login from them...

yesterday ran 12.5 with 8.5 at 6:34 pace. felt great. but yup, still can't get the old heart rate up where i used to. finished with a 6:11 mile and hr was only 156 average. i think it means my legs are tired and whimpy and my aerobic system is in shape. got four more weeks to sharpen them up so they can torture my aerobics. feeling good about my goal workout of 23 with the last 5 at race pace on sunday. and i think some 400m repeats would work next tuesday...

felt completely wasted this morning and slept late (maybe it was the two double cheeseburgers i had for lunch?) so i'm planning a lunch run today.

stay with the pack ksrunr! at least for the first 10k, then let it rip.

Nice bonus! Mine was only $500 but it made a good dent in the cost of Christmas presents.

I've been wearing orthotics for about 16 years and I absolutely depend on them. I get them replaced every 4-5 years. I put them underneath the spenco-type of pad in my running shoes, and I wear them alone inside regular working shoes. When I don't use them (like if I wear high heeled sandals for some event), my feet hurt a lot afterwards. I just wish they were cheaper.

Thurs day. Feeling better -- 6.8 mile EZ run. Weak sun peaking through the clouds, so I rolled up my sleeves for some REAL light treatment.

There is a state of the art gym in my apartment building....new as of last February or so. Gym quality equipment, 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals and 2 recumbent bikes( I would have preferred regular), a univeral 3 station gym and a full set of dumbells with bench. Also cable TV. And it's almost always nearly empty. And it was NASTY out last night...So.... I did 20 min elliptical warmup followed by 30 mins weights all while watching my favorite show from 5-6 Cash Cab. In my private gym

Choovie and hopeful - those were funny. You can tell clean jokes and laugh. whodathought?

McSolar. I hope to have a pack to run with (hang on to) but generally the elites spread out pretty quickly and turns into one long line. I can't run with the few elites we have so usually run by myself or training partner. Looks like you've got some strong runs in lately. I think I'd like to train with you for a while. Could only make me faster or kill me.

Finally I'm back.. a few days with not Kick access. [rumor mill on] Nice to see Kick survived the Active attack [rumor mill off]

As CassadAAmius mentioned he had a trip to the DC area and I had one too. We ended up across the street from each other! Small world.

Here's a picture. I can't remember if it was pre- or post beer?

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...andPerch-1.jpg

That was really fun since we've been virtual friends for so long and helped each other out so many times.

6 cement filled leg miles with Tory this morning. Still feel effects of hilly tempo miles on Tuesday.

Hi all -

Is it acceptable etiquette to post that i will be going out for a run at lunch time today? I need to commit to it to somebody so I actually do it. I went for 6 on Wednesday, and I don't think I've gone that far since..maybe last summer. If I don't get out there today to keep it going, it might be Tuesday before I get out there again (Nor'easter bearing down on us for the weekend).

Posting my swim w/o so I have an excuse to ask Econo about light box treatment "Bad sunburn on places normally covered up". I have this vision of you pirouetting nak...umm, maybe you should just clarify. Preferably in relentless detail.

oh yeah, O was late to the pool so I had 1000 yds, 20 laps, in 20:20, 61sec/lap. Good for me.
Then, all fresh, she pushes me for 100/200/300/400/300/200/100. Whew.
2600 yds in all. A new swim w/o PR.

Brian, I do it all the time. Just ask anyone. In fact, I'm committing to run 3 easy tonight (weather permitting, even getting to the Y), although I had planned on a rest/XT day. I've changed the rest of my weekly plan and will hopefully get back over 40 miles, all easy.

You guys that are hording all that rain/snow... please send some down our way..

Check this out.. our reservoirs are drying up!

http://www.newsobserver.com/1181/story/745683.html

Just a rest day for me but it's nice seeing all you regulars out here . Happy runs, rests, and swims/XTs to all!

millbot is very observant.
Happy B-day Kelly!
Yay for Patrick and the BOMF group!
choovie, I meant to thank you for that Bogata cycling link. Very uplifting!
Lab, you lucky duck! I'd be over the moon for a simple raise every five years, but a big fat bonus!?!?
ksrunr, let 'er rip. GL to Ilene, Pro, and evanflein too.

I ran 30 minutes yesterday, with 2-min walks in between 10-min runs. I really, really, really want to run today. Doug wants to take a look at how I'm running tomorrow. I'm following that Pfitz link, perch, you put up not long ago, so thank you for that.

Thanks to Rich for getting the site back up and running. BOO HISS on the moron hackers and steroid users.

Non-running related, but I think I may have to stop eating fish because they're so darn clever. (Don't eat farmed fish anyway, but ...) "C'mon, lads, let's go for it"!

Well, about that light box treatment -- I'm not sure if it's like a tanning booth or not, 'cuz I've never been to one. Well, anyway, I stood there in the booth with a grocery bag over my head.

I'm serious. Stop laughing.
