1600 yd swim this AM (30:30)

5.1 mile lunchtime run - about 46:30 - suckiest in a long time. Felt like lead legs churning through molasses. Only positives were that I ranst the whole way, and didn't trip over anything, pull anything, or stub anything. Blecch.

Hope your dad's okay MB.

Happy hour early Monday imaginary tri-pals!

Gator Girl left for Germany via NYC at 2:30 yesterday afternoon. At 6:30, the garage door went up and she was home! Turns out her flight to JFK was delayed because the preceding flight was delayed coming into Boston by winds. By the time it finally landed and they had a firm departure time, she was not going to make her connection to Frankfurt and there were no later flights so... Home again! This set off a small family celebration which meant...

Slept in instead of going to the pool this morning. Lunchtime saw 45 minutes going nowhere on lopsided circular device. I think my left shoe was leaking as the footbed on that side had a significant puddle when I got off. Either that or, in my advanced age, I'm losing a little control?!?

Phone-a-friend tri-peeps!

Feeling about 90% today, almost back, just a few body functions still out of wack, but still good enough to hammer away:

What a pain. This was done mostly in HR zone 1, but my legs felt heavy afterwards nonetheless.

I got to the track between some meetings:

80min track workout, 8 x 800, followed by 5 min of corners, starting at 3:10 and descend:
Seems ok for this time of year, first track workout I had so far I think. I wanted to get down in the 2:40s though. I recovered quickly back into zone 1 inbetween so at least I'm in shape. Left calve extremely tight. Hips very tight!!

evening: 45min yoga/swim strength.

great work everyone!

Nice long run, 4 Boys Mom - great pace.

Matt, hope your dad is okay.

1:20 with Coach Troy (Julie, I know you really like him, but he's starting to get on my nerves!). Just kidding, it was just a long workout. And, I had to spin today with Matt's new bike hanging in front of me. I was outbid on a bike last night on ebay, a Bianchi 928 carbon frame. Really pretty.

The good news is I feel stronger on the trainer these days. Hoping for an outdoor ride next week. Happy workouts all!!

So, that is what working out feels like. After way too many days off I hit the road for a 4 mile run. My excuse is a rough business trip. Back at it now....at least until next week when we are heading to Scotland for a quick vacation.

Forced rest for me. After my long run on Friday, my back siezed up. I don't think it was from my run, but from my trainer workout the day before. Anyway, all I've done since Friday is lots of stretching, core work and contrast treatments to try and loosen it up. I'm starting to get more mobility, so hopefully I'll be right as rain by my half mary this weekend. Anyone else doing Shamrock in Va. Beach?

3mi run, very happy that there was no pain, in the knee or foot. Hopefully it's all gone.

Good workouts everyone!

Alicia, it's March 10 in my time zone!
David, taper well and rock your race!!
Beth, if you're in a tri club, you can get a tech shirt at Black Bear for free, did you know that?

Not this year, but look for women in pink. There should be a large contingent of TRIgirls there.

Unplanned rest day, so I am already behind for the week.

Ugh - I was signed up for the full, but have to defer until next year due to shin issues - I had all of the symptoms of a stress-fracture wannabe, so I started seeing an ART therapist over a month ago and decided to play it safe as I don't want to mess up my HIM this summer. Good luck - I've heard it's a fun race!

Finished the day with core exercises in the basement.
Heidi was asking for a routine... can't name all the exercises, I have a mix from what I've seen in Runner's World, from my own experience and from various Internet sources, took me 25 minutes.

1300 very tired yards in the pool.

missed pool, but made my DT massage and then work killed me. Good news is that I offered to someone and she accepted, woot! And interviewed #2 and he is likely to, but we haven't offered. Very hopeful.

Taper has begun

Wow, lots going on here today. All kinds of swimming, races this weekend, first triathlons, half marathons. You guys are all awesome and truly an inspiration.

Me: Planned rest day today. My back and legs are quite sore from this weekend's running and body sculpting workouts. Tonight I did a 35min gentle yoga DVD and 10min of stretching to work out the "kinks, knots and blocks ... that's niiice ...". I am sure the narration of the DVD is going to get annoying but I like the music and the setting in Jamaica and our workout area in the basement now has surround sound. It's kind of sanctuary-ish.

Good workouts and good night to all. I am phoning it in to bed.

First full day back in Illinois after the Tucson camp. I preferred the weather in Tucson, although I can't really complain about temps in the 30's.

Easy run today, 7.1 mi @ 8:12 pace. I finally sent my coach my 2007 Boston race report (I had switched coaches from last year) and she realized I needed to toughen up my quads over the next 5 weeks. I only been saying that for the last 2 months. Grrr! So, it was easy hills today.

Matt - hope your dad is okay.

Scott - those are some nice workouts you've had. Keep up the good work, you'll kill IMAZ.

Stitch - nice job on the negative splits.

Hope everyone has a great evening!

Mike
