Bicep work is done. Only tri's shoulders, abs and chest left.

Quick question... for those of you who routinely run when it's in the teens (F), do you find that a simple pair of leggings is sufficient to keep the legs warm? Radioyada and I are doing an event on Saturday, and right now, the low for the morning is 18. (The race is at 8am, so I doubt it's going to be much warmer).

This Georgia girl thinks it's cold when it hits 35.... 18 is going to be a bit of a shocker, and I really have no idea if my leggings are going to be sufficient to maintain some decent warmth once body heat kicks in during the run. Core/head/hands are taken care of. It's just the legs that I'm concerned with.

Thanks!

Theia - I was about to ask you for date/location of the Iron Girl tri, 'cause I'm looking into which one/s I want to do besides the LBI Endless Summer one in September, but then I saw your second post about it. EEK wasn't the reaction I had. My reaction was less suitable for posting...

And you know how much I looooooooooooooooove hills after Sunday!!!!

I'm not sure how hilly the run course is. I know Columbia, MD, where the race is held, is notorious for its very challenging bike course during the annual Columbia Tri (Olympic distance) in May, and I think the Iron Girl follows much of the same course.

Theia - that wasn't a hill on Sunday, that was a wall.

Ailarie- tights should be fine. Double up on shirts, cover your ears and hands, and if you feel the need (esp if its windy) a jacket you can take off and tie around your waist if you get too warm.

I see a low temp of 5* here for Sat. Pleasepleaseplease let that be Sat night, not Sat a.m. I have a 5K myself.

Today, yoga then a short run I think.

At those temps I wear a thicker, pair of Under Armour tights along with a pair of wind-resistant tech briefs. I'll also wear a similar thick compression top under a lightweight running jacket on top (along, obviously, w/a hat and gloves, etc.)

what she said.

Ailaire - I am gonna have to determine my clothign requirements for Sunday as well. At race time, the temps will probably be in the mid teens (maybe 20) and dropping through the day. With 20 mph winds, gusts to 35. I do not foresee a stellar time.

Looking at wearing tights (may have to purchase wind resistent briefs) for the legs. For my top, I will either go with two LS tech sirts, or one with a nylon running jacket I have. Leaning towards the jacket, because I can adjust the zipper front based on how warm\cold I am.
