I'm planning on getting a run in after work but I'm wondering if it's healthy out here. We're getting a lot of smoke from the fires around Calif. It's very hazy out and smells like wood smoke. I can't see any blue sky, just white/brown haze, 85 degrees. The wind has died out which is good for the firefighters but bad for air quality. I'll see what it's like after work.

Have a great vacation tomwhite!
That race was fabulous Tamster!!
{{Labduck's foot}}

I know what you mean about running in all the smoke Ken A. Mr. Forward was called back early. Everything is burning around here.
I may still run after work, I'll decide then.

thanks!

I guess Penrose photography was at the race - I just never saw a photographer - although in that last pic I seem to be smiling right at him. He must have been standing by my DH because I think that is about where he was after I started and my DH took my pic. The first one of me is godawful! blech. what's with that expression?

http://www.finishshots.com/racerresults3.php

oh, I guess that doesn't link you right to my pics. I guess you have to select my race "Humboldt Redwoods Marathon" and my bib number was 353, if you feel like going to all that bother just to look at a few small pics

Nice pix, Tamster,......... but you'll have to crop that skeevy dude out of 'em

awww, but I like skeevy dude!

Tammy, that is a profoundly dreadful picture at the top there. At first, I couldn't quite parse it and wondered why on earth you were carrying a shopping bag under your arm.

Good thing the next two pictures are greta. You rocked that race!

I'm so glad I feel comfortable enough with all of you to link you to that horrid picture . . . . err, profoundly dreadful more aptly describes it I guess!! LOL

I like the hot dood in the picture too, Tammy. You both look fabulous!
tomwhite, bon vacance. Steeplechasing sinks is not recommended for the hip, though.
Ken A and Ilene, those fires are scary. My Big Bro is in San Diego and is being sent home from work early; he works downtown (!) It can't be good for your healthy lungs, so careful. Hope the fires are under control soon and those winds abate.
Pro, if you run east for 45 minutes, aren't you in the Atlantic?
Mrs. Labduck, SNORK on the Disapproving Rabbits.
Speaking of which, I disapprove of the bullying, L-Brainers millbot and Labduck. I'll get to it ... all in good time ... all in good time. Chill, it's good for you.

13.7 at about 8:04 clip. Warm and windy. Beautiful.

Glad to be back on the plan. I felt like I was tapering. Ate like a hoglette the past several days.

ETA: Okay, so maybe the photographer missed your good side on Picture 1.

Hey, Tamalina! Looks like the photographer caught Johnny in two of the pictures too. Very nice. Congrats on a great HM! You rawk

he's actually in all three. That's him in the lime green singlet in that last pic - sort of off to the side and behind me (the ONLY time he was behind me the whole race). In fact, I think that is where he said to me "don't get all jacked up now Tammy and go out too fast". Of course, 2 minutes later he passed me . . . and kept gaining ground the whole race. LOL

Oh Tammy, you may have slaughtered my half marathon time, but I beat you hands down in the "profoundly dreadful" race photos (repeatedly, I might add!).

riley, I've been quiet but I'm cheering you & your PT progress.

tomwhite, geez, quit whining and just go on vacation, will ya?

labduck, I think you're doing fine...the pain only graaaaaadually subsides (like over a year) and running is part of the rehab. The schedule your doc put you on is remarkably similar to how I ramped back up last spring.

Tomwhite, have a greta vacation! (Take care of that hip...glad it's cooperating).

Tammy, the last 2 race photos are good! I think it's hard to get a good race photo, unless you're one of the elites. (But I'll bet they don't like theirs, either).

Hi, Econo. How's it going?

Labduck, I'm so glad Econo weighed in on your foot concerns. Even though mine was a different injury, I struggled with the same question about whether I was doing too much. Now that I feel about 95% healed, I look back on that time and think the pain/discomfort was all part of the healing process. And can you believe I can still feel a little tenderness in my hip after a strenuous run? (It's been 6 months).

Evening all.
SS - nice pace on that run
Lab - I am still feeling tenderness and light pain a year after the first injury that actually put me out. You've got to monitor and make sure it's "healing" pain or "injury" pain. Only you can determine that really. I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. Jut listen to the body.
Tamster - good pics; good run.
Hello and good runs to rest of you kicksters.

6 miles this morning. Hot, humid, begging for a breeze.
6 miles this evening . Cold front blew in about 9:30 a.m. 25 - 50 mph N. Winds. Temps dropped. Tonight warmed back up to 70 with steady 25 mph winds. Suppose to get into the 50's tonight. Opened up the house. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!

..... like a summers day up here in the frozen north.. very odd! I tend to rest on mondays, but I was seriously tempted.... but the old legs need their rest these days...
Hi Marie!

I have an important project due last Friday. That's why I'm here! heehee

ETA: woohoo, I'm a miler now!

3 easy recovery miles at 11mm pace. This was the first time I've run the day after a hard race, usually I take a rest day first, it felt good though.

that's great Johnny! I wish I could get in a lunchtime run tomorrow, but the dentist demands my presence . . .

I've become more sore as the day goes on. I'm walking a bit more gingerly now . . .
