Nice running again men! Love that St Therese race.

Did another nice run this morning along the lake for 80 minutes, pain & burn free! All this without orthotics. As I run I am focused totally on the foot as I wait for it to start up but now it doesn't seem to. Only time will tell. I do have plans to race soon though, maybe next Saturday in Shelbourne, VT? It's a half!

Just beat out the humidity this morning. It was actually raining for most of my run and as I finished the sun came out, the wind picked up considerably and the humidity as well. Whew!

.... nice work boys

my puppy is giving me the eyes.... he was with me for 3 hours of hills on sunday and today we hiked to the summit of Mt ste Anne ... . . . . .... . and then ran down as fast as our legs would carry us (=trashed quads in less than 15 mins )

loving the weather . . ..

Sounds nice Gro.

Hip hurt bad after a short run yesterday so this morning I went out and did 5 miles on the rollyblades. A little wobbly for the first time out but boy does it work the hips muscles and glute. Good cross training for me and I have already found a race in October if I can stick to and get good. The race is 128 km tour around Montreal. Also follwed up with a 20 minute tempo row. Hopefully I can work up to get my marathon rowing pin in August /September when I attempt my first row marathon.

Enjoy your day.

Try rowing around the island of Montreal Roly. When you get to the Lachine Rapids, you can stop in for a beer!

Tonight I will run with Phoenix at the Jetty. It will be the 2nd time in 2 years!

Roly: your rower might not float but join my training/eating program and I can guarantee that YOU will!! haha...

I am starting to enjoy running again... after I finish my runs.

Last night I got to run with some new people, all of whom played nicely.

I did 4 x 7:30 @ 4:12-4:20 pace. It felt tough, but I am fighting a cold - sore throat, so I'm happy with the effort. Funny how some people race in their training.

If I'm feeling it, I may do a harder run tomorrow, but the rest of the week should be easy and long.

So any huge Bairu fans in here?

Thanks. Didn't know Bairu's result... how about Solinski... wow... the size of the guy... built like a triathlete

http://www.letsrun.com/2010/solinskyvideo0502.php

It's hard to imagine that Solinsky actually lost a lot of weight in the last couple of years. Reminds me that I could definitely lose a few pounds.

Bairu on the other hand has the typical distance runner's physique. Biggest juxtaposition on a running cover: Simon Bairu and Priscilla Lopes-Schliep. The Beauty and the Beast.

KZ: I'm glad that you're having fun with Dorys and the group. I ran that workout last week. We ran 3x10minutes at the 1km loop behind the statue on Mont-Royal Tuesday night. Despite the fatigue having raced on last Sunday, I felt good and ended up running harder than I should have.

I'm excited about the Ottawa race weekend. All events are sold out! Wow, it's been years since I've run there.

This is the hardest training week. Despite the fatigue, I feel good and I'm looking forward to finding out how my body holds up on the 3 hour run this Saturday.

Take care,

It seems that at 161 lbs he is the first runner to go sub 27 for someone over 141 lbs.

http://racingnews.runnersworld.com/2...marathons.html

Yes KZ you need to lose weight. Me I'm getting comfortable at 210 +.

TurtleBOy and King Zissou: Congratulations on the great run over the weekend. Good work on the PB!\ It sounds like it was a great race! I am glad you both did well.
I have not been posting for awhile because of computer problems, but I think they are resolved now. The trainig here is going well. I ran 4 out of the last 5 days, so that is pretty good.
Well, I hope everyone is ready for the weekend. We'll see how many miles I can squeak ot of it...

Just came in from a 50 minute run along the waterfront of Lachine / Dorval, Heart rate averaged 162 so it was comfortably hard. No foot issues to speak of and except for Wednesdays Jetty speed repeats where the foot burned like crazy, everything was under control.

Wed., we did 2 x 500 m and 3 x 1500m each with a 500m jog rest. I haven't trained fast like that in over 2 years so I found it very tough and the HR showed it being about 175 for each repeat. I was running 4:00-4:10 min. / K pace and I was really tired at the end.

I really have to modify my stride length considerably and increase the turnover otherwise my foot will continue to burn bad. I tried that tonight and it seemed to work although I was on grass most of the way. I have that typical 10K stride that is difficult to change after so many years but it has to happen - oh, and no orthotics any more, ever....full stop!

4 miles on the skates this morning followed by a hard 30 minute row and now off for my run Then off to meet the family to have breakfast with Mom.

The inline skating is really good for activating those glutes.

Enjoy your week-end.

Strange Roly. I do a fair amount of in-line skating these days and I feel it most in the groin (both sides) and the shins-which really ache both during & afterward.

Maybe your glutes are already active! For someone with no ass that is where I feel it after I finished. I do also feel it in the shins and groin when I start off.

"Know what primary muscles you use in skating.
