Cripes, after all the food we ate on vacation I feel fat too. Let me do an official scale check and if it is ugly, I'll join.

Do mid-week weigh-ins count?? I hopped on feeling light and virtuous after my 8 mile torture TM run at the hotel and my 7.3 mile tempo run last night... this morning I'm up 4 pounds. WTF??? I know I know... it's temporary, but demoralizing especially when I can't tie it to any extravagance recently. I went out to dinner in Anchorage but had shrimp and scallops, sauteed with spinach by special request (I asked for light prep, no cream sauce, etc). Hmph. It feels like having a hangover without the fun the night before.

yah, well, I made my weight goal supposedly on Tuesday, but then successfully gained it back. grrr! I guess Monday's modest goal is not in the bag for me after all.

I hear ya' sister! I had that 1 pound gone a few days after the challenge started. Even ran a 18 mile run that should have help cement that 1 pound victory...but noooooooo.... I'm up 2 pounds as of today. What the heck??? There is no way I'll make goal tomorrow with pending Easter brunch on the horizon today. I may take myself out of the challenge. Seems since I decided to lose weight, I've gained.

I won't make it to the gym to weigh myself til Tuesday, so I guess I get monday as a starvation day to lose whatever I'll gain today! LOL

I still got you beat Sherie!

(Remember, weekly's are better than daily's)

Step away from the daily scale.

This coming from a girl who weighs herself every single morning at the exact same time.

I'm posting my contrarian stuff in this thread so as not to contaminate Econo's fresh start:

It's not about today's weight vs yesterday's. It's about long-term trends. I can fake a weight shift just by timing drinks and bathroom breaks. My scale weight fluctuates by +-3 pounds over the course of a single day. Just take your weekly measurement (if you must), drop it into Excel, and don't look at it again. Keep an eye on trends over multiple weeks, not days. This is a long-term project....

Read the previous post with bagpipe music playing in the background, while you imagine Mustang Sally standing tall on her soap box, the Canajun flag flying majestically behind her... your Kickrunner pride will swell to new dimensions, and bring a geeky tear to your eye.

I wish I could convince DW of what you say, MS. She is losing weight, and she lives and dies by the daily readout on the scale.

Rock on, Mustang Sally. Rock on.

Hi Erika!
thanks for the warning. wouldn't want to mention food in a weight loss thread. oh my no.
any particular kinds of food? I wouldn't. for example, mention cola products. oh my no.

Hi Econo! yep, very clear. it's just, I haven't been around much. my sense of 'threat' is a bit dulled.
