yaknow, I suppose I should have started a multiquote reply, but I didn't know I'd have so many things to say.

I'm sorry, I just have to interject regarding pure breds and rescues and mutts. Not all breeders of pure breds are reputable and therein lies the problem with illnesses. If you go to a breeder who knows their dogs lines, is extremely keen on the genetics of those lines and is honest, you will rarely get a pure bred with the illnesses common to those breeds. It's when you have dishonesty, greed and stupidity that the illnesses come into play. Also, someone breeding pure breds that gives dogs out to just anyone with no concern about whether or not the person can handle the breed is not a reputable breeder. I never believed in getting pure breds before buying one at a pet store (first mistake.) Then, after I got to know many, many breeders I learned of this entire other world. My first pure bred came from a puppy store via a puppy mill. She died of leukemia at 3 yrs. My second pure bred I rescued and this dog ultimately came from a backyard breeder who just didn't have a clue. We're still waiting to see what develops as far as illnesses. My next pure bred will come from a much more reputable breeder. A lot of rescue dogs come from homes that couldn't handle the breed and often times ended up abused, puppy mills, and backyard breeders. So you have to be careful. Mutts can be the most amazing dogs, as long as you get the right mix. And when you get too many mixes in a single mutt you never know when a certain characteristic you weren't aware of will come out, or even what illness lurks inside of the poor dog. Don't get me wrong, I have met tons of awesome mutts and I do not discount them at all. Sorry for the long rant.

I've been to one spring training game (Cleveland Indians). It was a lot of fun! You should do it. I haven't been down there just to watch practice or anything though.

You could always rewrite the story from the trainer's POV. That would be a fun read!

Interesting POVs on dogs...thanks all! I don't want to seem too nice to BF (he might start think I'll do anything just cause he says he wants it!), but I figured a nice September birthday present might be the way to do this.

Though I still don't know...maybe a fourth cat would be the better way to go! Our downstairs cat has taken to getting jealous of the upstairs cats - he's from a doggy home, so he would probably be okay getting a new friend of either the dog or cat persuasion. That might stop him from climbing the door...there are claw marks up and down the door in the stairway!

Heck, I'm going to take a nap.
