Why? Just curious. Not about the running water...

I enjoy making old things new again. I love the sounds of rivers and streams. Many of my favorite people posted in this thread. That makes me feel good.

Great. I knew the Colorado river looked a little lower lately. <img alt="mad.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/mad.gif"><br><br><br><br><br><img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif">

No, in warm seasons when my windows are open just crickets, leaves rusting in the trees, and birds. I live in a very quiet rural area (minimal road noise). I love camping near running water, but silence is nice too. You can't shut off a natural brook. This time of of year does not matter anyway, my windows are all shut due to cluster fly season. Bug screens do not do squat for keeping them out and they are really bad this year. Winter time my house is shut up too. I can hear jet skis and motor boats on Lake Champlain in the summer time though, which is about 0.3 miles from my house. The motor boats themselves are probably a couple of miles away, but sound really carries across open water.

Ditto the only when raining comment.....of course since I live in the PNW we get to hear it a fair bit.<br><br>
I have a fountain in the garage I want to install in the yard. I'll need to install conduit, etc. and find the time to actually do it - its pretty low on the priority list, but running water in a yard is a great way to mask city noise.
