Congrats on the PR PC!!!

Sorry Crane, as my friend says all the time: "People...they're the worst!"

WTG Maples!!!. You know at the end of C25K, you're actually supposed to run a 5K race...what's your race gonna be? Come on, you know you want to, just to see how it is. All the cool kids are doin it! (really, no pressure, just kidding)

Nice run there Brandy.

Hope you enjoyred the group thang Voo.

Congrats Tiff!

Welcome back and woot! to Diane!

Congrats on the awesome PR Pacer!

Perfect conditions and a flat course made for a speedy little Duck today. 41:45 (6:45/mi) for a new PR by a minute or so. It was my 4th 10k and the first one on level ground. My co-worker/buddy Kenny (the former smoker) crushed his PR and ran 36:59 for 13th place. This really makes up for my bad day on the 4th of July and was totally unexpected. Race report later on, we're heading back to the Scandinavian Festival for abelskivvers.
Oh so you guys are going to pay to fly me to the next 5k you are running? Cool heheh

Ahhhhhh yeah folks ....great runs and super PRs to PC & Duckie. NICE WORK!

Melis - I feel your pain sista... let it out. Lots of a-holes in these parts (as you can imagine) who don't even try to get their shit into a trash can.

that's a pretty gross place for it too.... that must be how they do in chip alley...we don't do that in our cracker houses.

pacer: i am constantly amazed at how fast you are

Voo: good on you for that run, brother... i just got done painting my deck and i'm afraid that where i dripped sweat on it might screw up the finish....

crane: something i never thought about....

scratch: i am impressed with you, dude.

deck is painted, Roo is green and hungry. house cleaning to do INSIDE today and I'm hoping to hook up that biscotti.

anyone know how to get paint of my fingers.....?

Crane - yippee for you! So many people think such things but rarely have the balls to say something about it. I'll admit that it honestly wouldn't have dawned on me to clear the path, but I'm with Kris, if I saw someone else doing it, I would have probably thought "that ain't a bad idea". That runner guy probably felt really stupid afterwards. At least that is what I choose to believe

Off to sleep. Nighty night!

Amazingly, I woke up to no hangover. A little dry mouth and weird head but I got a drink of water and was fine. Puttered around the house cleaning this a.m. and am now getting ready to work out - upper body weights and run 3-5 miles on the treadmill. Too hot to run outside at the moment. Long Run planned for tomorrow.

Congrats Tiff! Way to GO!

Crane, I'd have been out there cleaning too, it's the right thing to do. You're putting good karma out there, it will come back to you.

Welcome back Diane! We missed you!

May be heading to Bay Beach today or tomorrow - ex had told DD he'd take them this weekend and he's a now show and not returning calls. grrr.

OK must get to it. Any QOW?

Great races Pacer and Duck. You boys are fast!

Off to the kid's carnival at the park followed by "Daddy Day Camp."

You know, Birmingham, and a lot of other places for that matter, are drivable from Oxford. I drove there when we went to a football game there.

Anyway, looks like your first close by opportuntiy may not be for a while. But that won't matter since you're going to keep up with this. So, you'll be in great shape for the Jiggle Bell 5K in Tupelo on December 1st. Look at it this way, the weather should be cool!

wow- speedy long runs and PRs at races. the 30's got it goin on today.

Maples your knees must be holding up big time...you are going to be in a race before you know it...nothing like the finish line man...no matter what your time is...nothing like the finish line.

Crane You are absolutely the goods...I agree with Brandy that loser better feel like dork right now.

Roo i doubt it is doctor recommended, but I use paint thinner on my hands and then scrub like mad in the shower afterwards.

welcome back Diane

congrats Tiff!!!

Got the lawn mowed in a light rain and good thing I did we are now getting much harder rain off and on..now time to fold laundry...yeeehaaaawwww

Guess what I just made?

Maria's famouse pink lemonade cupcakes. Haven't tried them yet but they smell great!

Congrats PC and Duck! Great times!

Crane-I had to laugh at Pacer's description of you yelling at other runners but you are right, it would be nice if more people were as thoughtful as you.

4 last night, did some arms abs stuff this morning, 7 tomorrow after the Tiger's game.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend 30s

Just got back from Rush Hour 3. Twas very funny. For once a sequel was pretty good. Beth will like it as most of the second half of the movie is set in Paris. Favorite line from the movie was early on from Chris Tucker to a woman:

Carter: "girl you need to get a personal trainer"

Woman: (thinking up excuse) "I can't help it, I have a thyroid problem"

Carter: "well quit eatin' 'em them!"

Oh and as I left the theater the temperature read 106 degrees at the bank. I knew that weather.com page was way off- it's says 97 now. There was nothing but hot air blowing outside. It's pretty bad.

Morning y'all!

It was a crazy hot day our there this morning and I did a 12-miler with a lot of walking with someone in my group that was having a hard time around mile 9.

Congrats on those PRs PacerChris and Duck!

Roo, you've been working too hard today! If it's hot there in OH like it is here, you deserve some rest and a frosty beverage right now!

[rant]
When I was injured for 4 weeks, nobody was found to replace me, so one of the site coordinators (the ones that have been getting on my case about pace the entire time!) and the pacer for the group that's 30 seconds behind mine (though I've seen them run and I can tell you that in reality I believe it's more like 45 seconds behind) would ride her bike to keep track of both groups.

When I returned last week, this site coordinator apparently didn't remember who I was because she was still trying to keep tabs on my group via bike. Later that day, I get an e-mail from her saying she didn't know that it was me and that she wanted to be on my groups e-mail list. Fine, great, whatever.

Then this week, only one person from her group shows up and she has her run with us and then she follows on the bike...again.

Now, I will admit that during today's run there were points where I was going a little too fast, but I was always mindful of it when it happened and I would slow down. It's still a little hard after all of that time off to remember the pace that well; it's a little like starting all over again and it took me a couple of weeks in the beginning to get it right anyway.

At mile 6, the woman asks me what time I've got. I tell her 1:08 and then she tells me that I'm going too fast and I shouldn't be doing that to my group on a day like today and that I should let someone else lead and just run in the middle.

...

So, let's see: an 11 minute pace would get us to the 6 mile point in 1:06 and and a 12 minutes pace would us to that point in 1:12, so I should have theoretically come in at 1:09. I was a minute off in TOTAL!

Aaaaaaaaaah! Aaaaaaaaaaah! I swear I can't take it anymore!

I don't think I'm going back. Increasing my long run mileage this fast isn't good for me anyway and being told I suck every Saturday is really not fun. However, I don't want to flake on my volunteer commitment...
[/rant]

I took a 4 hour nap; I haven't been tuckered out like that after a run in quite a while.

Afternoon everyone. Another nice day at the resort. I am going to head out to the pool in a bit and try to get some actual laps in if the kiddies stay out of my way. I am now feeling unmotivated, guilty and lazy. Not a good combination at all. I know the longer I enjoy being lazy the more I set back my running and the harder it will be to get back out there and reach my goals. Right now I just want to work up to 3.1 miles with out walking. That is all. Compared to some of you that is a warm up, but for a new runner like myself it is a challenge. I am still hoping to hit that distance by the end of August, but if I keep being lazy that is not going to happen.

Congrats Tiff.

Great job on week 8. One week left and you have finished the program. Great Job!!!

Congrats on the PR!

Great PR Duck.

While I can understand not wanting to back out on your commitment, maybe it is best. It sounds like the coordinators are more negative then positive about your efforts when you are doing a great job, and coming off 4 weeks of being injured the extra mileage could cause you to hurt yourself again.

Hey Gang -

made it home in one piece - EVEN after swimming with the 5 year old yesterday! (You people with children whom you are in charge of 24 hours a day - I bow before you. She wore me out after 30 minutes in the pool. . .dang. . .)

Managed to fly into the Cities in between storms, thank goodness - although I'm missin' the mountains right now. However, having said that, do you have ANY idea how much oxygen is in the air down here near sea level?!?!

Catchin' up on folks tomorrow - nice to be home, though.

Oh, Miss Winter, I tried to bring back cookies for you, but DH kept eating them. I will tell you however: sandwich cookie: chocolate chip cookies with chocolate chip cookie dough in the middle. . .Yep. That's right. My BIL and I agreed that if we lived any closer to each other, we'd be two really happy and fat people.

I had 12 miles planned for today. Headed out on the 11 mile loop I didi last weekend, and looked at a map so I could add a 1 mile spur to it. Tying up my laces, the weather channel says it is 49* out (was in the 70's last Sat). It is freakin phenominal out. Running weather can not get better. Cranking along, I feel great. Get to the point where the route changed, running on dirt roads past corn fields, along resevoirs, lovin life. Then I realize, I made a wrong turn. Farg. Took a while to correct because I was in a section of town I do not know. Get back on course, cruise on home. Map out the route that I actually ran, and I ended up adding 2.5 miles to it. I just had my longes LR ever - by mistake - 14.5. I feel OK too. Like I said, it was perfect running conditions.

Congrats Tiff, RN!!

Nice work, PC and Duck.

Nettie - you are volunteering and doing thenm a favor - if they are making it miserable for you, bag it.

Welcomw home McT - from the pics, you had way too much fun.

Thanks for being on my team, gang!! Now I'm having an Oscar's Stout so it's all better. Ahhh..I like beer. Can't drink it much, but when I do, it makes me happppyyyy.

It's OK to laugh, I must have seemed like the branch-picking-up police. I'm using your line next time, though, Pacer. You should hear what I say and see how my hands fly all over at ridiculous drivers. I know I'm going to get myself in big trouble one day. I don't know what happens to me when I'm running--I'm normally such a nice girl. Or, er...lady. I guess at 39 you are a lady. Crap.

Storming again here, I hope that means it cools off!

Hope you all have a great night. Nice racing today Pacer, Duckie and running out there in general, everyone else! Glad you are home safely, Tortle!

that's what vacations are for, right? I'm hoping tomorrow I'll get the rock star pics up! (GOTTA love going to a silly hat store with a 5 year old.)

I'm so proud. . .

Thanks Crane! (I wanted you to know that I did share your article with my family-in-law all of whom are in MN, and they were all very appreciative of your words. Well done!!!)
