Morning y'all!

It was a crazy hot day our there this morning and I did a 12-miler with a lot of walking with someone in my group that was having a hard time around mile 9.

Congrats on those PRs PacerChris and Duck!

Roo, you've been working too hard today! If it's hot there in OH like it is here, you deserve some rest and a frosty beverage right now!

When I was injured for 4 weeks, nobody was found to replace me, so one of the site coordinators (the ones that have been getting on my case about pace the entire time!) and the pacer for the group that's 30 seconds behind mine (though I've seen them run and I can tell you that in reality I believe it's more like 45 seconds behind) would ride her bike to keep track of both groups.

When I returned last week, this site coordinator apparently didn't remember who I was because she was still trying to keep tabs on my group via bike. Later that day, I get an e-mail from her saying she didn't know that it was me and that she wanted to be on my groups e-mail list. Fine, great, whatever.

Then this week, only one person from her group shows up and she has her run with us and then she follows on the bike...again.

Now, I will admit that during today's run there were points where I was going a little too fast, but I was always mindful of it when it happened and I would slow down. It's still a little hard after all of that time off to remember the pace that well; it's a little like starting all over again and it took me a couple of weeks in the beginning to get it right anyway.

At mile 6, the woman asks me what time I've got. I tell her 1:08 and then she tells me that I'm going too fast and I shouldn't be doing that to my group on a day like today and that I should let someone else lead and just run in the middle.

...

So, let's see: an 11 minute pace would get us to the 6 mile point in 1:06 and and a 12 minutes pace would us to that point in 1:12, so I should have theoretically come in at 1:09. I was a minute off in TOTAL!

Aaaaaaaaaah! Aaaaaaaaaaah! I swear I can't take it anymore!

I don't think I'm going back. Increasing my long run mileage this fast isn't good for me anyway and being told I suck every Saturday is really not fun. However, I don't want to flake on my volunteer commitment...
I took a 4 hour nap; I haven't been tuckered out like that after a run in quite a while.
