Hey Litch, i never heard of anybody ever refering to themselves as a hockey geek before, glad there are more of us out there ( even if you are a Rangers fan )

Hey all, quick lunch time check in. Just wanting to post my own military brag. My dh is an F-16 crew chief. Pretty damn cool job. He's gotten to travel quite a bit with it, although not always to happy places. I'm really proud of him and the work he does.

Check back tonight if I get a chance....

Not unusual for the calf to be crabby for an extended period of time. Depending on where your pain is, there might be very light blood flow to that area. I like your out-and-back plan x whatever works. Good luck and drink up on fluids - it's hot again.

I am getting my own room, but I'm not sure whether I'm staying Sat and Sun nights or just Sun. Dear Beaker is letting me stay with her for part of the time (all of the time, except that I'm freakin' out about getting in a nap. I have my priorities straight! )

Nettie, do you have a plan???

I don't know if this is an offer for a roommate, or just general information, but I haven't even begun looking for a place to stay, flights, etc. I'm currently trying to get my life in order before making big $$$ commitments. I am still looking for a roommate, and I'm not picky about whether it's a guy or a gal. I was thinking of arriving on Friday and leaving on Monday. If anyone wants a roomie, please let me know. In crazy, exciting news. . .I have a job interview! It's scheduled for October 25-27. I don't know how likely it is that I will get the job, but I was thinking to myself the other day that I may not get a tenure-track job this year, but if I don't even get an interview. . .Well, now I have the interview, so that hurdle is passed, and it's been such a psychological boost. Of course, my phone died shortly afterward, and I have accomplished nothing besides being excited for the last two hours, but I deserve it after being bummed out for most of the last couple of weeks.

QOD: I have a Forerunner 205 and I like it very much, but I think it's too long. It's not heavy or anything, but I can't do calf stretches (against a wall/door) without turning my wrist a weird way on the door b/c the Forerunner cuts off my circulation if I try to do them the regular way. I think this is a small price to pay.

QOLongTimeAgo: I'm going to Philly as a reward for meeting a dissertation goal. I'd like to set smaller rewards and goals, but I need ideas for things that don't involve spending a lot of money, which I don't have right now. I do reward myself with a monthly massage, just because.

Must go buy a charger for my phone.

Good afternoons, everyone!

Howdy,
Quiet morning for me. I slept in a bit and then took the morning slow with coffee and some work I brought home. Now that I am actually at work, I wish I hadn't come at all

PRAE Big Ups for You!! I remember my first interview and it was exciting and hellacious both. Good Luck!

Speaking of rooms in Philly...

Best Western drives me bananas. The only reason I'm booking with them is because I have a gift card that will cover most of the cost. They gave it to us last year when they screwed up our honeymoon night, putting another couple in our room and then letting us in the room where we walked in on them in bed.

So I look online with BW and they show one rate for the weekend of the marathon. I look on Expedia, another rate. I call the hotel direct, another rate. And some sites showed it available for this night and that night but never the same nights on the same sites. Why can't the info be all the same!

I booked friday night and sunday night at the Center City. Saturday night was unavailable so I booked at the BW 2 miles away. I asked to be put on a waiting list for saturday night, in case someone cancelled. They said that was unlikely but even so, I'd have to keep calling them back (long distance, mind you) to check. Grrr.

I just checked Expedia again and there's another, cheaper rate. So I booked sunday with that rate. Why not, it's $40 less. I called to cancel the previous reservation for sunday and they got snippy with me. Well, frig...if that rate is available I'm taking it!

I don't know if this has ever been posted before, but you need to watch it.

Prae and Solitude...why don't you guys plan to room together...I'm being complicated (as usual) and I'm just not sure what I'm doing yet. Don't forget that $50 credit if you book with Travelocity though!!! Let me know if you end up at the Club Quarters!

And when I called the hotel they said they didn't have any rooms open. The website said they did. So I called the main BW number and there were in fact rooms available.

Once I use this card, I'll never stay with them again.
