Work is sucking the life out of me this year.

Happy Birthday to Tiff!

Still can't see most pix at work, so I'll check out the new ink when I'm home, LL!

I'm drinking my chocolate milk after my runs. I don't care what anyone says. But, to be fair, the nutrition guy did ok the idea when I told him it was skim milk and about 30 mins, usually, after my run...

Hope everyone feeling icky or achy or ploppy feels better soon...

PTom - Minor existential crisis passing through today. Stand clear.
Ok?

And an early good luck to all our weekend racers! I'm running an 18 mile race Sunday, but I'm doing it as a training run, so no PR goals for me...

I would like a Theia brownie right now. Thank you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIFF!!!

Ya know, I'm so impressed with the collective knowledge of this group. If we really put our minds to it, I bet we could do somethin' cool.

Hey, Mary - one of my kids just told me she wanted to try that novel-in-a-month thing... I told her I had a friend doing it

Don't tempt me. You're too close, I could really do that, and I'm likely to walk right outta this place with an offer like that.

Wooo hooo, come on up! Little sis and I are going to get us some good viewing spots EARLY that morning and we can save some extra space for you.

Happy Belated Birthday Tiff!!!

Funny Timr1 - your story is similar to mine. If I tried to enlist, they would've rejected me as well for being colorblind and other medical stuff. And yep, I'm surrounded by it as well:

My Dad served 20 years in the Navy and reached the Chief rank; an uncle of mine followed a similar path (served on board the Enterprise pretty much his whole career) and an aunt also enlisted with the Navy for a short while. Another aunt of mine enlisted in the USAF and married a fellow airman of hers. And my Mom has also pretty spent her life working as a civilian at various military installations - she's now currently working at the JAG division at a Coast Guard installation here (the film "The Guardian" with Kevin Costner was partially shot there.)

Too bad...I can't make it to the trials being over here. Do you think this high feat of athletic achievement will be a good substitute?

DON'T MISS: 2007 RockPaperScissors Tournament

One of DH's co-workers made it to the national finals this year in Vegas. It was on ESPN2. It didn't go so well for him though, he (and I quote) "Lost to some fat bitch from Ohio in the first round". Then proceeded to lose $800 at the tables.

Oooh! Are we bragging about military family members? My cousin's husband just retired from the Marines (at 41, lucky dog!). He retired as a Major and was one of the pilots for Marine One, the presidents helicoptor. Just thinking about some of the missions he was one and some of the places he was stationed still gives me goosebumps. I am amazingly proud of all he accomplished in his career. EVen more proud that the day after his retirement ceremony (and many many beers) he ran an impressive time at Broad St.

I've got a Garmin Forerunner 305. You may have seen me post the google maps that I get from it (via MotionBased.com). I love it, and wouldn't run outside without it!

Heh. And now your avatar has changed to show that, eh? Better watch out. The Rangers are being picked by many as the team to beat. Don't get your expectations up too much. I'm not saying they won't win. But if they don't, you'll get your heart ripped out again...

Meh. As I've been saying, I knew the Gators would have to lose a game sooner or later. We're not going to win every championship from now until the end of time. Frankly, I expected our first loss to be in Baton Rouge, not at home against a team that lost to South Florida and Miss St. But whatever. We've still had a good couple years, and I won't let one loss to Auburn (or even a second one to LSU) ruin my mood...

Oh, and Happy Belated Birthday!

Time for a Hot Pocket...

Happy Birthday Tiff!

SemiSpeedy, I posted a story about my Grandpa Here that you can read about. He was a fighter pilot in the AF. He retired after 30 years.

Hi Cowboy. What are you talking about?

I have the best 3 year old in the whole wide world. She asked me if we were going to the gym so that I could work out. I told her no, she was sick, and she was sad. But, other than that, she has been very pleasant so far today. (fingers crossed)

Perhaps it is just me....but isn't that what hockey is all about? Supporting your team till your heart gets ripped out?
It happens to me most years. Happened less when I was a Canadians fan, back in the day....

Welcome to the life of the Sox fan.

I think I've mentioned an elderly neighbor of mine died about a year ago and in his obit, the family mentioned that he'd lived to see the Sox win 3 WS. 1917, 1918, and 2004. His casket was lined in Red Sox fabric.
