RR for Twin Cities - it's a long one! http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/sho...464#post272464

Mandaroo I'm sorry, it's not a total crock. Perhaps in your case it's a crock, but I have gathered enough scientific evidence to prove that yours is the exception rather than the rule. And totally unrelated - please let me know if you and your hubby ever split up. I'm just sayin', you got a lot of options on this board!!

Did you know that those that do it at least 3 times a week have higher immune systems and get sick less? Totally. serious. here. Try it this winter.

You can also lay on a weight bench and grip the top by your head with your hands. Lower your legs as low as you can and then lift them back up again. Just use your abs to contract and lift the legs. That is a great workout for them. Also, another reason to get a stability ball. You can utilize more of your core when you do a crunch on them.

We used to strictly use our ball to sit on at the computer. My Grandpa passed away in Jan and we got the office chair that we had bought him for his birthday. I miss sitting on the ball. You have to be conscious of your posture and be upright. Any slight movement causes your core to work. Core = from under your arpits down to your hips, front to back.

Yeah, about that, I bought two pumpkins at the gas station at least two weeks ago and I still have one upstairs. Have you noticed the info on the back?? I can't bring myself to eat the other one, knowing how hard I'm working to get back in shape. Oohhh, I could mail it to you!!

Hey, 9.5 years of marriage here, 2 years dating before that, and I think that is a lie. If anything, it has tapered off for him (he's 9 years older than me) and I'm the one dying over here. It all depends on the woman.

Speaking of exercise balls, I told a story in the PRT a few weeks ago about the gym and the ball. I was in the weight room doing my routine. I get a stability ball and I sit on it and I do my arms on it. You can also lay down on it (upper back) and use your feet to stabilize yourself. Do chest press and flies. Even tricep extension while laying like this on the ball. Then you can drop the weights, distribute your weight a little and start doing crunches. Then I flip over and do back extensions on the ball. I. love. the. ball. So, I'm doing all of this and there is this guy in there using the machines. He made some comment about how I'm really getting good use out of that ball and I gushed to him how much I love balls. I didn't even go there, until he blushed a shade I haven't seen in a long time. THEN I felt stupid. But good hell, I was talking about working out, he watched me on the ball and HE is the one who made a comment to me. I was just talking back.

Anyway, a really simple move to do on the ball for your core is to get by a wall. Place yourself on the ball, on your knees, so that you are balancing on it. Slowly take your hands away from the wall and just use your core to keep you upright. If you start to move a little (you will, you're on a ball!) then use your core to get your balance back. It will work all the muslces at once and it is fun and easy. I get weird looks all the time, but I don't care. I'm trying to workout. Does that make sense?

I have more great ideas for using the ball if you want them. But I feel like I'm rambling here and no one wants to hear it.

I got a run in today. And weights. I have a crazy day today and I have lots to do. But I had to shoot up my PRT drug for the day.

I think that's completely normal. Of course, I'm far from what anyone would ever call normal!

This part of your statement IS true! Notice there's no man on here trying to refute Pacer's report. You know what they say? The woman get's 1/2 the money and all the .....

Am I the only one thinking . . . sex??? Seriously.

Hey all –

I’ve been reading through the weekend and today’s threads. Lots of gritty efforts and nice PRs this weekend.

Congratulations to Michelle on finishing her fist half. Now that you’ve conquered 13.1, how much longer until you attempt the full enchilada?

A super effort from KrisE - a 60 second/mile PR is awesome.

Major kudos going out to the KP9597 and phdatc family on their respective 5k PRs.

Fanstatic efforts from Lora, Dom, Chris, Baggs, Bandy, Maria and Jen in absolutely brutal conditions. I’m glad to hear that everyone is OK.

Good luck to Maureen at Tufts tonight.

Baby Pool – 10/16 @ 11:30am

Good runs to all.

Hey folks-

Really, really glad to hear that Maria and sis are OK. Scary stuff yesterday.

Also, big ups to Dom, Pacer, Baggs, Lora, and Brandy for seriously gritty runs in conditions that were worse than Teh Suck. Much respect, folks.

Too much to comment on today, but I will say that there were about 18 different Friday references that I wanted to make, but since it's only Monday....

I don't think married guys are the only ones thinking hopefukly. Just sayin'.

Thanks Craney for being you.

Woot to Maureen in the Tufts 10K!!! Speaking of which, I peaked at the results, and my Mom was 6th in her AG at the same race. That's an amazing showing in a race with 4700+ entrants!

I posted the report from my 8K (and PR!) here.

Wasn't suggesting that you assist!!! She asked if you knew of anything to help with the core - especially the lower abs... It can be a good ab workout.... jussayin' <slinks away -- all embarassed now...>

The Gators have a bye week next weekend. Our next game isn't until 10/20, and like I said earlier, Maggie will be induced on 10/17 if the baby doesn't arrive before then. In other words, no Gator games will need to be interrupted for the birth of my child. I think we planned this mighty well.

One of my favorite beers is the Blueberry Ale at Boston Beer Works. Apparently blueberries have almost the exact same density as beer, so the blueberries they add float up and down in the glass. First time I had it, I was somewhat inebriated, and watching the blueberries float like that was quite fascinating.

Well, it's time for a Monday tempo run. Is it warm out? I haven't been outside all day. I'm supposed to do 13 miles, with 8 at tempo speed (which I've been trying to do around 8:15). This will not be an easy run...
