WD GIN!! Hardware, who cares who was there. And Lab, glad you showed some restraint and are happy with your results.

29 miles on the bike, it was in the high 30's. I was dressed ok but I need better gloves. 14.4 avg pace 154 avg HR. I went with a faster group then usual and kept up OK cept for the hills.

Lab, Gin ... nice racing!

Tom, having a daughter in college just spoils some things for me

Some cooler weather going on out there .... good for running.

This morning I rode my bike to crew for Mrs hup in our local half M. She ran better than she expected to run. I'm proud of her!

Here's my sweetie

Once we got home, I went out for an easy 45 minutes on my own in a steady drizzle.

I think I'm going to make a pot of beans this afternoon

I understand, Tom. My work and running buddies give me grief for it constantly.

Sweet racing for Gin, Lab, Mrs. Lab and Mrs.Hup! (hope I'm not forgetting anyone???)

Today is a beautiful day in So_Oregon and my son went to the movies with a friend this afternoon, so I felt like I should have taken advantage of this and gone for a run . . . instead I made homemade brownies (no boxed brownies here) for DH, banana bread for DS and and mixed up homemade pasta sauce for baked ravioli for tonight. Now my feet hurt from standing in the kitchen for 2 hrs! But I have tomorrow off, so I'll get in a long run tomorrow.

Enjoy the day everyone!

Good job labduck on your successful return!! and an extra special shoutout to Mrs. labduck as well.

congrats to gin and mrs. hup also

Rinda- I guess there's no stopping you now!!

Finally, after 2 weeks of this freezing fog we've been having, a great day in southern Oregon. Blue sky and puffy white clouds all around. Typical southern Oregon rainy season weather is either rain, or, if not raining, cold fog. The day after the rain stops is always nice and then the fog comes in again.

Anyway low 40's t-shirt weather warming to low 50's by end of run. 1st long run with the Garmin, I could go wherever I wanted, so I ended up starting at the gym and doing a couple miles on a usual route and then going down and crossing over the river, running down the bike path behind the fairgrounds, and then along the Redwood Highway bike path down to the college before turning around and coming back. A whole new world was revealed.

15.05 miles in 2:24:04 9:34 pace 139 average HR and ending with the last 1.05 uphill miles in 9:09 (8:43 pace) 157 average HR (millbot fast finish™). The goal was to average a 9:45 pace, which is near the middle of my McMillan LR zone, so I need to work a little more on holding the pace I want. I think I've come up with what I want displayed on the Garmin screens now, overall pace big, overall distance & time small on one. Overall time big, avg. lap heartrate and avg. lap pace small on another, this being the one I'll use in races and for most of my training. I've got current pace & heartrate along with time of day on the other, but the current pace is constantly changing, I don't think it's of much use, so I'll have to come up with something else.

One thing I noticed was the HR stayed pretty much in the mid 130's the first 9 miles, then crept up into the low-mid 140's the next 5. I'm thinking this was because most of the way back is overall uphill, either that or I was tired. I really need to determine my max HR, I understand that a good time to determine it would be during the last hard run portion of a set of intervals. Just go all out and see what it says.

I see I've obviously turned into a Garmin numbers geek, sorry . I should have got this years ago, I'd have it out of my system by now.

What fun it is to read about all these good runs, races, and number-crunching opportunities.

For me, just four EZPZ miles down to the marina and back, skipping all over the little urban byway-trail I ran with her Souciness a few weeks back. I sure like this running healthy stuff. Long may it last.

(MC, the contrast baths did the trick. I'm weaning myself off, hoping I've knocked that little bit of ugliness on the head).

I have tomorrow off and will celebrate by jumping into the pool with Coach's training group at the crack of dawn. *sigh*

Yay, Mrs Labduck! Awesome 1st OA
Cheers to the other racers, too! A good weekend.

Really nice 12-mile run with my son today (he was rollerblading). He had to negotiate the bike paths carefully, as the leaves kept getting stuck in his wheels, but I loved it. Felt strong and ended with a very fast mile (Garmin says 7:30, which I don't believe, but hey...)

Hi there! I am lurking in your threads. I have been told I can find some good, dirty racing tips in here!

Tamster, your house must smell soooo good! My mouth is watering just reading your post!

some might not call the aroma's of banana's, chocolate and garlic "soooo good" - but, yes, I think the house does smell quite scrumptious. Especially after I had been outside for awhile and then came back in. mmmm. going to whip up some bruschetta with our dinner as well.

Hi Nettie! Welcome!

Hi Nettie, I'll try to think of some dirty racing tips.

......I think MustangSallys ''Trip 'em'' might qualify.......

by the way - forgot to mention it, but nice route John. I didn't even realize there was a bike path that went back behind the Fairgrounds from the direction you came from. I only ever start the bike path right there at Albertsons and go down towards the college.

Nettie, it was Econo I had in mind when I responded to your fine RR (and great result!), but there are other Masters here that are sure to share their dirty secrets. Careful what you ask (wish?) for.
