Compression socks: I use Recovery Socks and I love them. Not too tight. They make me feel warm and cozy and good after I put them on.

TCM training thread: Yes, I'd participate. How many are doing it?

Way to go MrJenRuns on his furthest distance! Jen, those "slow" paces that you are running would likely be around what me and the mystery guest (is it a secret??) would run at Urban Half. I think you should do it if you are feeling up to the distance. You could register under a fake name so you wouldn't be embarrased by the time in a race!

boB - sounds like it was a great morning! I can't imagine running on a tarmac in that heat.

Crane and BigG - nice work in brutal conditions today!

Hi Dan! (((((Dan's hammy/glute/hip))))

KP - nice run! What sort of plan are you following?

Tonya - nice negative bike split! Just barely is good enough!

Brandy - how was Hyland? Were there tons of deer flies? I was at Carver and they were horrible.

I should have started my run an hour earlier. It was horribly hot when the sun came out. (77 and full sun by the time I was done). Goal was 13 w/ 8 at MP. I finished with 13.5 and 8 at MP (8:16 - 8:32) . BUT - I am quite sure I didn't run the MP miles the way Pfitz envisioned them when he wrote the plan. I had to do them in chunks, with ultra easy miles mixed in between them. It was just too hot to do 8 MP miles in a row. Plus I had MAJOR MAJOR GI issues mid-way through my run, so needed to stop (but couldn't find a porta-potty until 2 miles after the issues began). The deer flies motivated me to run fast, just wanted to be done. Brutal run.

Cindi, I'd love to drive down and run with you guys but I can't justify a trip down there if I can't race. Too many logistics with the dogs and not having a car.

I'll be in Duluth for a seminar Sunday Aug 1 - Tues Aug 3. The seminar is sponsoring a 40 mile bike ride, but say runners are welcome too. From noon - 4:00. Any chance Mr.JenRuns wants to bike and you want to run something slowish with me? Not sure how far Duluth is from where you are or if logistics would work, but if it does, let me know.

I got 5 slow recovery miles done. A little sore from yesterday's LR, but good in general.

Duck - that is smokin fast! Congrats!

Nettie - 14 miles on the TM?? No AC?? You are hard core! Why did you TM it instead of going outside? Heatwave in Chicago?

Congrats to Jill on a great 21k trail race!
We were going to spend this coming weekend in Duluth, it's just over 2 hours from here, maybe we'll do it next weekend instead!! Let me know your schedule on Sunday and where you are staying (we'll stay at the marina right by the bridge), we would need to head back late Sunday so MrJenRuns can get to work on Monday. I'll be in Duluth this Friday afternoon, too.
