Hey all - got in a 30 min lil bit of everything workout yesterday (core/cardio/squats/stretching). Going to get to the pool tonight for a swim...or maybe if the sky is clear, I'll do a little run with the lunar eclipse a goin'

TimLH - that sounded like a great run. And sorry to hear about that Maria - that sounds a lot like how I felt last Saturday night when I came down with whatever I came down with (no fish that I can recall, tho.)

QOD main: I gotta' get back to training regularly first (breaking in the orthotics now, so we'll see how that goes) and then the calendar will be filled in accordingly. A very tentative schedule for me:

early-May: Eugene
summer: assortment of tris and short races
mid-October: Niagara Falls (full mary maybe?)

QOD secondary: gut feeling for me. I just take into account my training up to that point and my goals for that race (if any) and go from there.

QOD 2 redux:

This is sort of my view on the race thing. I wouldn't mind a PR at every race, but that's not the ultimate goal, and I think a lot of that change in viewpoint has been dictated by injuries. At the Pig, I wanted to survive 13.1 without too much more tweakage to a bad ITB, and at Philly, I wanted the camraderie (running with Maureen & Frankie) and time wasn't an issue (especially with a tweaked knee and the fractured toe.)

Another is newness - I did a bunch of trail races early last year, so I was learning the ropes there. Also I had my first tri, where my simple goal was to survive the swim and the bike and the run would take care of itself. I had a loose time goal of under 2-hours, but wouldn't have been shattered if I didn't make that goal.

Biah - funny and semi-apropos dream; I'm in the market for new tri-shoes for my bike Don't know one wit of which model I should get, but I guess I'll figure it out soon.

As far as the trail racing, I'd start small first unless it's a course that's mostly on flat trails or fire roads - I got into the trail scene at the 17K distance and then the 20K distance. Should've stopped there - a 25K race kicked my butt.

Woohoo Mary! Congrats dear!
