Hey all:

Up and out early this morning prepping for an interview today.

Last night was 10 miles with 40 minutes at 6:00 pace. That kinda hurt. MP, my a**.

We're supposed to get a little snow this afternoon so hopefully I'll be back by then and can get a little run in during the snow.

Good runs today everybody.

I was actually doing a 6:00 pace last night... six times... for about 10 seconds each. I did my run on the TM. The schedule called for striders, and I did those six bursts of 6:00 pace to simulate the striders. I might be able to keep that pace up for a mile. (i.e. six minutes). But 40 minutes? No freakin' way...

Today I'm supposed to meet up with my neighbor for 5 miles or so. This is the guy who's a lot faster than me, so I wouldn't be surprised if we do the run around a 8:00 pace. Of course, it's supposed to snow a little tonight, so we'll see how that affects things....

Have a great Wednesday, folks...

I have a few miles after park on the schedule. I'm so glad the days are getting longer and I can go run after work. So ready for the time change as well.

Great run yesterday, but nothing on tap tonight except more painting.

Plus I've got the cool new boots on... so my feet may be a little sore

Good Morning!

Okay, here we go, I have INTERVALS today. See, you never thought you would see me type that. I'm going to try to get to our local, abandoned, scary track if I can get DH to go with me. It's warm out today, but not record breaking heat so I don't think that will hinder me too much.

It's supposed to be 9 miles with 6x600 at 5k pace...it doesn't look too bad, but I'm tempted to make them an even 800's so I don't get too confused. This is where I would love to have someone who knows what they are doing to go with me.

I always laugh when I read Daniel's book where he calls MP part of the "easy" runs. I tend to think your true, this is the best I've got with a taper for my big race pace, MP is fairly challenging during training (and this is what he says to use with his Vdot tables). I was working hard during my 2 big MP runs last go around and that was when I thought MP was slower than what I ended up running in my race...last weekend I swapped out the race for my first MP run--I'm already thinking about the 2nd one. I think it's 15 miles at MP which Daniels puts me at 7:18, that is going to be hard!

4 miles this morning on the mill. My legs must be tired from the weekend still. The felt like they were made of lead.
Hank will put in about 45 minutes on the mill himself today. We've got snow....

We did about 4 miles last night with lots of hills. It was quite icy, though, so the footing was tight. The coach slipped and fell hard on his hip...ouch. He didn't let on that it hurt, but it sure looked painful.

On monday they brought in a pilates trainer and my abs and obliques are killing me still. At least I know they got a good workout.

Another run later, not sure how many miles is on the schedule.

So, 3x1 mile intervals on the treadmill at 9:13 pace (10Kish pace) went ok. I did not fall off the treadmill, but the last one was pretty hard. Gonna do some core and stretching tonight.

Morning all - 9 cold (19*, 15 mph winds) but beautiful miles this AM. Watched the moon set and the sun rise over LI Sound. The sun made me think of solar . At one point, I was on a cinder trail, coming up a slight rise. The sun was just coming up - about 2/3s still below the horizon. And the sun was smack dab in the middle of the trail off in the distance, with all sorts of crazy colors reflecting off of the sound, and the view was perfectly framed by trees. Felt lucky to be there. Wish I had my camera.

morning

I did 10 last night at the dome. First 12 laps (of 25) were slower as I was running with some other people. We were doing near 11 min miles. Last 13 laps I brought it down and finished with an average 10 min mile...so that is ok.

I went to the gym this morning and did a 30 min core work out and then a 30 min progression run. 445 is a little early to get up but I got COFFEE with lots of espresso

Registration is open for the Gary Bjorklund Half is open today! It's time to make some choices.

Okay guys, give me some input for the rest of my year...I love to have things planned out way ahead of time. I also love feedback from people who have done these races.

Summer:
1) GB 1/2, take my chances and try to get in...this would be my for sure if I knew I could get in.
2) Grandma's full, 7 weeks after Boston...won't be fast but it would be fun and I'll be up there anyway.

1/2 goal race?
1) Mr.JenRuns said we should go to the Philly Distance Race while working a trip to see his grandma. I have a bunch of friends down here that went last year and said this is a great race. Is it a good race to try to get a good time or is it too crowded?
2) Another 1/2 somewhere?
3) Just have fun with some hot arsed tri's down here?

Fall/Winter:
1) NYC--I can get in with my 1/2 times, but I'm a little overwhelmed with the thought of going to NYC and it seems insanely pricey. Plus side, big important race and it would be fun to run with so many fans...I guess it's a race everyone should do once in their lifetime.
2) Philly, a group is going from down here but I think it falls right around T-Giving...that really doesn't work for me as I host T-Giving for both our families. If I do the 1/2 up there, then I really wouldn't want to go back so soon for another race.
3) Something else?

Alright invisible friends, what would you do?

What a beautiful image to wake up to. Thanks for sharing.

As for me. I'm hoping to get a run in this evening, indoors or outdoors, I'm not sure. It will all depend on the temperature. 3 miles either way.
