Several comments from people directed my way that it is becoming more like the CH. Parody threads, personal stuff. I'd hate to single out people, but by saying that I guess you can gather that certain individuals are being singled out.

There does seem to be a lot of subtle, and not so subtle, poking each other recently. It involves people that are pretty obvious and others who arent.<br><br>
I have no idea how to fix it though.

You hit it dead on, I think. There's this thinly veiled nastiness that's just "icky".<br><br>
Hints and intimations of things, nothing that I can put my finger on...<br><br>
I wonder if I should just call it and see what the reaction is? Perhaps wait a day or so before doing that.

From what I have seen, the initial issue was a comment by the #1. Then it snowballed from there. Its continued to escalate since then. The problem has been that some others are taking sides and joining in at taking shots. Its not been pretty, although its been pretty subtle, sometimes. I have pm'd briefly with one of those people about some of it.<br><br>
But its also transcended that one issue. It didnt start there. Thats where its ended up. (today anyway)<br><br>
I have also noticed that its gotten more pronounced since the recent influx of ch'ers. May not have anything to do with it though. I dont know.<br><br>
At this point, I dont know that doing a thread is going to anything but piss of both of those folks. Maybe thats ok though.<br><br>
Maybe just a sticky about the expectations here? I dont know, but maybe that would just serve as a reminder of what we have here.<br><br>

I really do not know what to do about the growing situation. I have noticed that the PRT is CHpart2 lately and have not read the bulk of the threads after the good morning thread. I read some here and there, but most of them i have avoided cause i hate all that CH drama and whatnot.<br><br>
I am not sure if there is a solution. Seriously. I do not know if there is one. If there was one i'd tell ya <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/images/smilies/sad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Sad">

I've been seeing it too, and it's bothering me <b>a lot</b>.<br><br>
Not just that particular conflict, but an overall change in culture. More drama, more innuendo, more jabs, etc.<br><br>
I really miss having real people talking to each other like real people. Seems like a lot of games going on right now and it makes me not want to post there any more.

I've noticed the weirdness too, but apparentally not as much as some of you, as I don't open every thread in the PRT. Regarding community standards and ettiquite (sp?) I think that most of the users "get it." But perhaps a sticky note will re-emphaize the community's goals and desires for all to see. My guess is that most users will not take offense to a reminder and that the bad apples will too "get it" with a friendly sticky post.<br><br>
I will say that the massive thread count in the PRT is annoying.<br><br>
Lastly, I had to revisit the PRT narrative:<br><br><i>The PostRace Tent Here's the place to just hang out. All non-running topics are welcome here. Grizz, I dont know where it is. I looked back and it only goes to August. My guess is that Rich did a pruning during the hacking issues.<br><br>

I've been racking my brains about this too, so far with minimal success.<br><br>
One question I've been asking myself is what each of us can do individually to improve the atmosphere. I've not been the most exemplary citizen, though probably not the most complained about. In general, when a thread goes south the best I've been able to come up with is to walk away. That's pretty passive and I wish there were some better way to be active in a "neighborhood watch."<br><br>
The only idea I had that might work a little (but would be way complicated) would be to give Griz an intermediate step: a sort of "group ignore" feature. Those of us who prefer to be gentle souls could check a box in our profile, maybe even make it public that we've done so. Then when Griz "ignores" the thread, it would disappear from all of us who have the box checked, but anyone could subscribe to the thread as an override.<br><br>
The point of the complicated scheme is to avoid the huge drama every time Grizzly moderates: the thread is still there. But people who don't play nice will realize that half of the users just walked away. Used fairly often, it would also cut down on the clutter for those of us with the filter turned on.

One crazy thought I had is for a "community-oriented" board, with stricter moderation, and an "anarchy-based" board for those who like the more lawless approach.<br><br>
And you would know going in what the deal was. If you wanted a more PG rated place where you knew that stuff would be dealt with, you know you run the risk of being moderated if you get out of line.<br><br>
And if you go into the Realm of Lawlessness, well, you asked for it.<br><br>

I know that I feel uncomfortable being quiet watching people being poked and poked at (3 different posters recently, and one left over it) but I don't necessarily like to confront about it either.<br><br>
Just as an aside, in our household, the rule is that you don't go anywhere online that you'd be embarrassed to have someone else in the family read over your shoulder. If the PRT gets to that point (and it has done that too often recently), I'm not going to be able to keep hanging out there.

oh boy. i do not read a lot of threads and i think i miss out on a lot of this drama. That is probably a good thing, but i may need cliff notes on all this stuff.<br><br>
i know of some nastiness that has gone on and i think it is just stupid and pointless. I like the super ignore feature. Not sure if it can be a reality. Why can't people keep the CH in the CH? Is the CH being blocked by people's work but Kick is not? isn't that originally why Miss Les came here? I think some others as well mentioned that.

First things First - Grizz - you're doing a great job!! I read the post about the pancakes or something and the 'stink' about you merging threads.... The users moderated themselves and you did right.<br><br>
Members need to understand - we DO moderate.. You didn't delete, you merged. It's the same thing that got the masters upset when I did the same thing. And, I'd EXPECT you to merge two threads with the same title and the same topic..<br><br>
Next - on the clubhousification of the PRT - I'm not around alot, but I do disagree with this statement. As long as people don't make personal attacks; pile on a user who may not express themselves in a particular way; or start intentionally stirring the pot, then the PRT is the PRT and there will be times when the topics seem to be more innuendo or 'sharper' than normal. That's gonna happen by the shear volume that we're seeing.<br><br>
We've got clear rules and guidelines set up for moderators - that I believe work.. Stick to those and, if necessary - remind people of the rules of the site.<br><br>
As to the post about the 'rules'.. that is now part of the 'READ THIS BEFORE YOU JOIN" - I posted those as the "I AGREE" part of registration. If you'd like, I can pull it out of there and either post it on the front page or somewhere else for easy referral.<br><br><br>
Let's face it, with the number of people we now have - some run out of things to say - and will post just to hear themselves post! That's ok!<br><br>
I don't want to 'force' people into thinking one way or 2nd guessing whether they should post..<br><br><br>
Again, it appears the users have moderated themselves, and Grizz did a great job with it...<br><br>
I'm open to your input if you feel we need to change anything - but unless there's an overwhelming voice to do something differently - I'd like Grizz to continue in the manner he has.<br><br><br>

I have been too slammed at work lately to do more than check "my" forum, post in the Good Morning thread, log my VRAA stuff and a daily run report and maybe on a good day scan the thread titles in PRT.<br><br>
That said, I've noticed more things in the PRT that used to annoy me and clutter up the CH: lots of call-out threads, parody title threads (a total waste of space), and threads that could go in other forums (like Side Line, Water Stop, Training Station).<br><br>
I simply can't keep up with the PRT right now, which is too bad as I genuinely like a lot of folks in there, but that's the nature of it as this site grows. Kudos to you Grizzly for holding down a job and moderating the forum! I think you are Mod of the Year.

Tonight's SRL callout thread is a good example of bad behavior (though not nasty behavior). It starts out as a nice gesture, then ....<br><br>
Recently I was asked to moderate some overtly sexual comments by Sunyurbuns in the 30s, but as I explained to the complainant, she wasn't breaking any ground that DrChris hadn't already broken long ago. And I certainly didn't want to be seen as treating females differently from the men. It's just not easy to keep the playing field level and not play (or be perceived as playing) favorites, and that certainly extends out to the PRT with its regionalism and long-term friendships.<br><br>
