SS: Thanks for organising the Hurley's soirée yesterday. It was nice meeting your friends. There was a good turnout and it was fun catching up with Truxx and KJ.

No running this morning for me; I was lifting weights

Interesting article of Olympic marathoners wearing shoes made of rice:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/11/sp...agewanted=1&hp

Have a good day everybody.

NO weights for me this morning as I ran another 3.5 miles.

DR I went back to running in the morning I found no difference except I prefer morning runs. I now alternate between standing and sitting at my computer so far this has been the best for the stiffness I suffered from sitting all day.

Gro Angie will divorce me if I try and add another fitness machine in the basement.

Very interesting offer Gro, but Eliptical's drive me

Perfect running weather this morning: nice and cool with a slight breeze. With weather like this, it's hard to believe that we had to suffer through such hot weather last weekend.

Ran with PS and PB for 1h15m route off the island and back. Ah... if only everyday could be as nice.

Looking forward to supper this evening. Chinese on Taschereau. I'm glad I ran this morning.

Today, I did some cross training. Went up to Mt-Ste-Anne on a perfect day for this. Gorgeous. I thought of the Grollies and the joy of running a mountain (I felt like I should try it, really, no joke), but still wondering how you can run on a slippery slope. Do you use a stick?

Good morning all.

It's Friday

Ran yet another 3.5 mile in 29:20 a 5.1246 min/km pace. Felt comfortable, no problem with the legs, back and hip. (fingers crossed)

Roly

Roly: Good stuff. Slowly but surely, you'll regain your form.

Ran intervals on the treadmill this morning. Forgot that I had a third set, so I returned from the locker room to complete the last one. Ugh... how embarassing. Need a nap. Is it 5pm yet? TGIF.

Have a good day.

No, I don't want to regain my old form, I'm working on the new and improved one.

What's an interval.

http://www.courir-saint-bruno.ca/GVDS2008/index.htm --- can't find the start times quickly...weird. I wish I was going..oh well.

Its Friday - yippee... fly

Roly: For your reading pleasure:

http://www.drmirkin.com/fitness/interval_training.html

This is how a person develops any latent sado-masochistic tendencies they may have.

Thinking about it, at some level, this mornings training must have been so difficult that my mind resorted to tricking itself into ending the working prematurely.

Despite the pain, lots of fun though, I feel, "sharper" following these workouts. It's a welcome contrast to the, "dull (numbing)" effects of long slow distance runs.

3rd day off, due largely to moving, but my foot can use the rest. It's still burning. Actually, just got in from an orthotic's fitting from a Kinatex expert who took the time to explain what my foot is doing, what it should be doing and why it's hurting. He then showed me what he was going to do and proceeded to do the mold. Very interesting actually. I've had orthotics before but never using his technique. For those in the hunt, he's Francois Blondin at 550 Decarie, across from Du College Metro. Don't trust anyone else!

Good luck weekend warriors. Truxx, I presume you are doing Mt. Bruno. Do us proud. Any others? Df? Where you been hiding?

How do you like Rosemont Merc ? Good to see you are taking care of your foot.

Anyone run today ? How about particpation in the Standard Life 10k ?

Grommit - you settled in somewhat ?

KZ - everything okay on the homefront ?

Roly, I will tell you about the races here, once I have settled down. Yesterday, I stumbled already over a Running-Room store. And some weeks ago, I already checked that there is a local marathon.

Chops, if it is unfamiliar territory, you should come and look. Beautiful scenery around here. I just passed the afternoon in the sun at the shores of Lake Ramsey (A larger one of more than 300 lakes in the city; and conveniently located in front of my hotel).

So far I managed to run twice this week. I have to go easy since I recently pinched my sciatic nerve. I hope, however, that I can increase the volume slowly again (am I ever going to stop using this phrase?).

Over the week I managed to solve my single most important problem. I found an appartment. One shouldn't think so, but this is a serious problem over here. Anyway, as my stuff isn't going to arrive before mid July and I am not going to move into the appartment before end of June, I will leave the city next week, I will do some days of camping and then drive overto Montréal. I would be happy to meet some of you for a pint. Grommie, you still in favor of the Ole Orchard? Take care

Ralf
