Good evening, everyone. I've been scrambling with work and single-parenting the past couple days, so have gotten behind in Kickland.

Ken!

Cheryl, I hope your running club buddy is okay.

Susan, regarding dressing for cold weather, here's a rule of thumb that helps me: When you're warmed up and running it will feel 20 degrees warmer than it is. So if it's 40 on the day of your race, dress for running like it's a 60 degree day. (This rule doesn't work so well if it's rainy or windy, though. If that's the case you'll have to make sure you keep your extremities and joints warm.)

I took a rest day yesterday. Today was my first treadmill run since last spring. (I got home this afternoon and didn't feel like braving the windy 40 degree day). I did 4 miles, progressive at 1% incline: 10:57, 10:10, 9:30 and 8:56. That last mile was hard, but I held on. I added 1 mile of walking for w/u and c/d.

Millbot, you lucky devil...no troubles with your teeth. I went to the endodontist yesterday, who confirmed that I do need a root canal. He offered to do the same thing my dentist has done twice in effort to numb my tooth. I told him I didn't have a lot of confidence he'd have any better success than my dentist, so he referred me to an oral surgeon. Long story short, I'm having my root canal under sedation on Monday. I can't wait to get this over with!

My DH gets home tonight. I'm so looking forward to it...I don't know how single mothers do it because after 4 days I'm exhausted.
