I'd immediately take a look at the extra bike computer and, if it recorded HR and speed and all the basics, and it recorded them over time, not just average, and if you could download the data to a computer, I'd immediately box it up, address it to a guy named Thor who lives in North Reading up in Massholeachusetts. That's what I would do. Or I'd give it to my running or riding buddy who's been asking about the same.
I'd fess up. I'd call them and tell them what happened. If they said to mail it back and would pay for postage, I would. I couldn't live with the guilt otherwise. On the other hand... If I told them a couple of times and they couldn't get it together, then I could keep it guilt free.<br><br>
I had a similar problem on a utility bill once not too long ago. They recorded a payment twice. I called them three times to try to explain this to them. Then gave up. They never figured it out. I no longer feel bad.
Hmmm. Thor. I bet you have a bike computer.<br><br>
I have a cheapie I can give to your friend once the season's over...<br><br>
You've turned Mikey into a drag queen. He asked when Uncle Thor was going to buy him solid pink tires.<br><br>
He wanted a boa to match, but I said it will get caught in his chain.<br><br>
I know how the mishap happened...I'll get one tomorrow and one whenever "smartpost" USPS shows up.<br><br>
I guess that's what happened when you have a certified thingie that said they got it on the 31st...you give them a week and see nothing. Then you call and they say "We don't see anything in our records...we'll overnight it."<br><br>
Then you get ANOTHER confirmations saying they've mailed it via USPS.<br><br>
Hmmm.
Since you didn't click send it back I'm assuming you're selling yours on the black market.<br><br>
I can only say that b/c as of yet no one clicked that.
LRR...the stories I could tell you about computer #1.<br><br>
First...in July they sent me the WRONG one...the polar w/o cadence. I ordered cadence.<br><br>
So-they "overnighted" it, I needed it for something important...oh yah-a TRI I did...and they fooked up and it went ground. Didn't have a computer for said race.<br><br>
So-I eventually get it...the cadence went in and out...then during IMFL I had no speed or distance. I thought maybe I pushed a button, but reset my settings on the thing and no luck. Even had the LBS look at it.<br><br>
So-I send it back...<br><br>
I'm a pretty honest person...I like your suggestion to call and see what they say.
Usually the cadence is related to the distance between the magnet and sensor, if you move it a little that will often wake it up. Sometimes it you slightly wiggle the computer in the mount it will help the contacts reseat, they are pretty low voltage and a little dirt or sweat on there will cause problems.<br><br>
Sorry I did not play by the rules of the survey. My 5 year old took and small and virtually worthless part from the trailer store last summer and I did not realize it until we got home, I suspect he was just fiddling with it out of boredom and had it in his hand. In any event, we had to drive all the way back to the stupid store so he could return it and apologize to the owner because we don't take things that are not ours.<br><br>
I'd be kind of a heel if I didn't at least try to live my own life the same way and make every effort to return the stupid computers to the idiots that misshipped it.
I had to constantly fiddle with the cadence sensor...it even fell off my bike 2x. It was the correct distance from the computer part.<br><br>
You can still click on send it back ya know.
When I was about 4 years old, I took (or stole) a battery from a store. When my parents saw what I did, they took me back into the store and I returned it with an apology. To this day If I am given extra change by mistake, I will tell the cashier. I am not sure if it is some big moral thing per say. I just can't look at myself in the mirror or believe that I deserve anything great in my life unless I try my best to live with honestly and integrity. Plus I have kids and that is what I try to teach them.<br><br>
Thats one of my better qualities.... Bad qualities??? I act like an a**h*le most of the time. Hey nobody's perfect <img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif">
OOOoooohhhh <b>NICE</b>!!!! Where's that huggy-kissy-face emoticon when you need it???<br><img alt="notworthy.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/notworthy.gif">
I voted, I'm with JR/LRR. Let them know of their mistake. They want it back, they send a call tag. I'd not spend more than 5 min on the phone though, this is simple. You want it, here it is please feel free to come get it.
I'd let them know but not send it till the other one is installed and you know it's working.<br><br>
Of course, I would have bought that from my LBS to begin with and had Doug install it for me, had it not worked right I would have popped back in and they would have made it right.
A trick I have also had excellent luck with is using a stronger "rare earth" type magnet in place of the little ones that come with the devices. You run the risk of damahging the reeds in the sensor, but I have never had problems.
My LBS doesn't carry polar...I got it on sale over the internet...I actually originally got a great deal on it. School teacher needs to find deals. She buys from LBS when prices are decent and always gets her repairs there.
