Zappos is the sponsor and I thought it sucked that we didn't get either a coupon or something from them. Boo. I also have a shoe problem.

We stayed at the Orleans, which is off the strip. Rates were $100 a night on the weekend night (saturday) and $35 a night otherwise. We flew in early on Saturday, went to the Expo, stayed thru Monday. It was perfect. Day for the race + nap afterwards and Sunday to goof around doing Vegas stuff, which for us was drinking at Margaritaville on the Strip!

The Orleans has a shuttle to the strip. The rooms were big and neat. Nothing uber luxurious or brand new, but clean and comfy. I'm not picky on stuff like that. Give me a clean decent bed, a working shower, clean bathroom, and I'm good.

If you go, we'll totally meet up. My friend and I want to do the half again.

Dougie! Thanks! I love upbeat, dance-y music. That's what gets me going most of the time. If it has a good, fast beat, I like it.

I downloaded a fast upbeat Hannah Montana song the other day. Color me embarassed.

Yeah, the race was Sunday last year, too. But you have to get there on Saturday to pick up your packet at the Expo. I'd totally meet up!!

Definitely. I saved all the playlists from all the gigs I did when I used to DJ ski parties. I'll see if I can find any more. I also need to see what I have on Rhapsody for playlists.

My old ski club asked me to DJ at the end of the month. I don't think I can stay up that late nowadays. It would be fun though.

Great lists so far! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who still dusts off the 80's music from time to time. While I was more into alternative tunes, I have to admit I still love the hair bands and some heavy metal.

Some of my favorites to get the blood pumping:

Sun King--Cult (Pretty much anything by the Cult)
Lunatic Fringe--Red Rider (can't hear that without thinking of Vision Quest)
Anything by Josh Todd and/or the various incarnations of Buckcherry

2 recent favs: I don't run or ride with music, but these 2 songs often pop in my head while doing both.

Pretender--Foo Fighters (they play this @ every Capitals home game just before the players come out on the ice, gets the crowd all crazy)

Paralyzer--Finger Eleven (I think)

They're playing locally, opening up for Tower of Power. I'm trying to convince DS11 (a decent sax player) to expand his musical horizons and see some good soul/funk horn bands, and at $20 a ticket, figure you can't go wrong ... So far he's hemmin' and hawin' .

Reg.

I was in Cinderella for a day ... alright, maybe two, maybe four hours.

Story:

I went to art school with Tom Keifer and Eric Brittingham. My band ["Bent Cement" - skate punk] shared a practice space in Norristown with Cinderella. One afternoon, we were just fucking around - as punk bands do - and the big hair guys came in for their practice. Eric was late, so I plugged in and provided the thumpthumpthump bass lines as best as I could.
I may have contributed rhymes to some songs they were writing, but I can't be sure. The Seussifier was still very experimental then.
