No offense taken, I just came across it yesterday on a cooking site and thought it was a funny coincidence. Although I grew up on these types of "salads" I would never eat one now. I don't know why it's called "salad" either.

Cool. I've had something similar, I suppose, but not often and if my mother made something like it, most likely it used cream vs. coolwhip. I don't believe I've ever made a "salad" with jello like that anyway.

A little, lathered is usually used in reference to horses

Here's a scarier list of ingredients:

Carbonated water, citric acid, concentrated grapefruit juice, potassium citrate, potassium benzoate and EDTA (to protect taste), aspartame, acesulfame potassium, acacia, natural flavors, glycerol ester of wood rosin, brominated vegetable oil, carob bean gum.

This is supposedly for drinking. It's called "Fresca".

acacia?
glycerol ester of wood rosin?
brominated vegetable oil?
carob bean gum?

To drink?

I also count two kinds of nasty chemicals for artificial sweetner and two kinds of nasty chemicals for preservatives. Yikes.

I used to drink this stuff until I actually looked on the side of the can.

Mouth feel is also a component of enjoying food. I love how luxurious whipped cream is, it adds a particular texture, as well as flavor. If I'm eating a tart rhubarb pie, I love a dollop of whipped cream with it because it helps cut the tartness, which I don't like as much as some people. Sugar helps, too, but I like whipped cream so much more.

Dude!

I guess it really depends on what you are using the coolwhip and/or whipped cream for . . . .
