I have the pink flames. They are cycling shorts and buttery soft! I bought them the night before a 2-day 210mile bike tour. I wore them on the first day. Uh, you know about never doing anything that you haven't tried in training??? I had NO problems with them. While they are cycling shorts, I have run in them. I'll probably wear the pink flames for my half iron in August.

I have scoured the site and couldn't find anything about medals for the relay. Maybe someone else can.

I like the shorts. How long are the VTFU shirts we are going to be getting? If mine is long enough, I'd wear the shorts.

Wait.....they're not padded-ass shorts, are they? I gots enuf padding back there!

Errr...ummm...I don't have anyone to watch my kids that weekend.....

If it's anything like Glass City (Toledo), then no, the relayers do not get medals (I was on a relay team with some fellow KR/30 types there this April.)

I volunteered the longest leg at GC partly because as the person with the most speed on our team and I knew it would help get our team as a whole under the time limit. And it turned out to be a good call, as it was hot & humid on race day and lots of racers in general went slower than their projected times because of that.

It sounds like a lot of fun being planned - good luck and good racing to you all

OK, VP---since you're the ringleader here, email the race director and ask. NO medal = sucktastic marathon.

You DO want to make the time cut so we get our nonexistent medals, dontcha?

I wouldn't be opposed to doing one of the longer legs, the 5 or the 6.....if, that is, I was going.

DrGenie, I'll email.

But, I have really bad news. I may not be able to go. I just checked our appointment book here at work, and my manager will also be out those days (Friday and Saturday). Saturday is our busiest day, so I'm not sure I'll be able to get off. She is currently out so I won't be able to plead my case til next week. They are very reasonable, but just 2 people to man our showroom on a Saturday is not so good.

This sucks.
