thanks runNY and just jim! was so nice meeting you too, thankfully you look just like your photo. hope to cross paths again! flounder, i was sad i didn't get to say hello to you. hope you enjoyed spectating this one... it was a crazy weekend! my race report is up on my blog

Nice write up Shellerz - funny how you thought it was hot, I thought it was cold! (although I did no running of course). Perhaps I should have avoided your report for now, reading it has done nothing but fill me with dread for my own little jog this coming weekend

I still have a vehicle full of midges!

jim, you'll do much better than i did in the brain department, don't worry! you are a more experienced runner than myself. one has to remember that i've only been running period for less than 3 years, and this was only my 8th ultra. i've a lot to learn and a ways to go yet. you'll be great!!!

What a fun weekend - All the athletes were awesome - Some a little more than others - But I saw a lot of great efforts out there - I am so Happy for Serge to set a nice PR and Connie for the amazing run. It was a blast to see the race unfold and Phil - who had suffered and looked like a pile of poop the 1st 12 hours, figure out his issues, get them corrected and get it done for 2nd. The youngster Nick Coury - getting it done ... wow 22 years old.

Anne was so patient and strong. Then there was the fun of the race for 3rd OA for women - Deb coming on strong, Anna bearing down and holding her off - In the end. Anna got it done. Deb fought brilliantly, but not her day.

Then all the stallions that wnet big, but burned out early -

But one of my favorite parts to watch are the althletes that just go about their business, work hard, struggle and fight all day and night ... relentless forward motion.

Congrats to all the althletes!

A big thank you to Roots who helped me out in the wee hours to take care of my ladies ... It is always great to see you!

Jim - it was great to meet you and good luck next weekend.

Shellerz - I remember seeing you, but I do not think we spoke? I was in the tent area right before Jill Perry with Deb Horn and Phil McCarthy, Roy Pirrung and John Geesler were on the other side.

I read your blog about the race - The battle is always tough and I always have great respect for all that continue the battle to the end - Congrats on a nice race!

thanks flounder. i kept looking for a guy with facial hair who looked slightly crazy, as it is the only photo i've ever seen of you, at the tail end of world 24 hour. i saw no facial hair, and the only crazy looking people were the runners! our tent was the screen tent right next door to jill's just after the bend in the course. no matter - glad you had fun watching everything unfold. i know how different it is to spectate. almost as exciting as doing it. a whole lot less painful it's a small ultra world, we'll cross paths again!

Sounds like it was a great race. I'm sorry to have missed it (backing out after Burning River) - but hope to meet all y'all soon!

Shellerz - congratulations on digging deep and getting it done!!! I read your blog - what a journey! Interesting point about the weekly mileage... something to consider!

great run Shellerz and nice write up. Now I know who you are from your shuffle at the end. You're one tough cookie. It was an ugly run for me. I sweat like crazy and dehydrated quickly on Saturday. Dumb not to realize it before my stomach hardened up and just made things worse. I was one of those unlucky folk emptying their stomachs on the side of the path about 10:30PM. I chose to stop and let my body rebalance a couple times overnight (first time I have ever slept in the middle of an ultra). Finally felt good again by 6AM and the temperature was wonderful - didn't even need a shirt - so I finished strong. I eeked out 70 miles (still getting my results fixed for the last 20 minutes) which is far short of my 94 from last year. I'll try again for 100 next year. And find some way to stay ahead of Leo (the 82 year old).

If anyone has any suggestions for the race, let me know. We'll be having our post-race meeting in a couple weeks and figuring out what we're doing next year.

Not sure - Things went pretty smooth

* I appreciate being able to come up and get some h20 as I did bring 8 gallons, but ended up crewing for a few extra people than I expected.

* Seemed to be a couple of issues with the timing and people were missing laps - Its hard to tell if someone took a break or missed a lap - I would have a backup system - Maybe record the whole 24 hours at the start line to be able to go back and review if needed - I would hate to have a record disallowed or the wrong person delcared the winner.

* Good location for logistics - easy hotels, easy drive in and out

* The lake scares me a bit - weather can be unpredictible - But has been amazing 2 years in a row

* Race director, staff and volunteers very helpful and approachable

Tell them thank you for another great race!

we were bummed about the missing chiropractor as well. Our running club prez and his wife are chiropractors. They helped last year for several hours. This year they had family commitments which kept them away.

I'm a little worried about the lap tracking as well. I heard plenty of comments/questions throughout the day and my results still need fixed as well.

Thanks for the good comments. I'll pass them along.

oh yes, my friend greg didn't have his first 6 hours of laps counted! luckily he was wearing a garmin and my husband was marking a checklist for us everytime we came through, but that was a big source of stress for him as he was constantly wondering if he was on track after that. i really don't understand why that happened or how it could be remedied.

Another hopeful to add to the list Flounder - I witnessed a fantastic performance from Mike Morton yesterday, who was a solid ultrarunner a decade or so ago, but hasn't run much since. (He won Western States in 1997 - the first non Californian to do so apparently). He returned to the sport with a bang.

In gruelling 97 degree conditions on a course that is not flat, and with quite a few areas of deep sand, he hit 153 or 154 miles or so. Absolutely fabulous performance. He hit 100 in 13:14.

Amazing run - 153.89 per website - Who knows what that would be in great conditions - Maybe he is a camel?

A little sigh of relief if that is the official number - I am hoping my 154.48 holds up.

I know Scott has said he is not coming to Brugg in 2011 - But it sure would be cool to have 1 guy @ 160+ and 4 more 150+ in qualifying on the team.

So if Scott comes back the buble spot is 153.89

More likely the buble spot is Krogmann's 140.1

But there is a lot of racing left
