I just sent you the URL to the obituary. I didn't go here first to see that you already knew... Very sad. I'm glad he had a full life though. It sounds like he had a wonderful family, and a wife of 51 years. He died doing something he loved, which I think we can all take solace in, but at the same time that doesn't make it any easier.

I will say this, his life inspires me, to go out, and live a good full life. A complete life with friends, family and of course running.

Just got back from the gym but wanted to check in before dinner.

TY, NB or anyone else who may be familiar w/ comparisons for running, I would greatly appreciate your opinion of my workout and if you think it equals 10 miles of running. Timewise it is pretty close but IDK.

I did 3000 yds swimming in 50 minutes and then 15 miles on the bike in about 45 min.; I just couldn't make it to 20. Got a late start and had to get home to finish dinner. Also, can anyone tell me if you increase the resistance on the bike, do you go "faster"?

Thanks a bunch! Will catch up and try to get some shout outs in in a bit!!

Hi everyone. Happy Easter!

Doesn't reallly feel like Easter with so much snow left on the ground but at least it's sunny. My dds got up at 5:30 to look at their Easter baskets and lucky for us they went back to sleep until 7am. We took the kids and dog to the beach and let them all run around for a while. It was odd to be at the beach when it's 32deg out but it somehow made me feel hopeful for spring/summer being at a place I love so much. I made a sand snowman - just a tiny one - just seemed right considering it's still winter here. When we came home I had to give the dog a bath - not my idea of fun but he was a mess!

I ran yesterday and my knee felt pretty good! I did a 30min run/walk with 2min run, 1min walk repeated. It hurt a bit at the beginning but felt good at the end. I also swam 1200m and that was a nice workout, too. I think this will be my last week of PT - woohoo! I'm signed up for a 10k on 4/29 and then the VT relay HM on 5/25 - I hope I'll be ready!

thats all for me. I hope you all have a great rest of the day! time to go eat.

Suds - I'm so sorry you didn't get into the race. Breaks my heart because I know how much you wanted it.

Evening everyone. Ate WAY TOO much at my parents. Then played some baseball with DS, and my brother and I hid eggs for the kids. Now I have a headache and am ready for bed

Hi to everyone else

Hi, guys! Hope everyone had a great day.
Thanks for all the well wishes. I'll just have to focus harder on the upcoming marathon and then find something else to run.
I'm glad John and Marianne made it in.
If you guys need any advice or anything, let me know.

I officially took myself off MAF yesterday. Wanted to try out my new trail shoes and I knew that would not work out so I figured I've got my 12 weeks in at least anyway, so now I'll just try to manage my zones. But yesterday was nuts. The trails I wanted to run, where we used to walk the dog, were literally rivers of ice and hard pack snow. Very little room on the edges to try and dance around it. I was laughing when I first started running them because it was so crazy. But several ankle turns, and about a dozen near death experiences a few miles later, and I decided maybe yesterday was not the day to cut my teeth on trails. The Montrails were nice on the trails, not so much on the roads, and absolutely useless on ice. I used the stock inserts which will be history for the next run. I am so spoiled on the sof-sole inserts now that I can't run on anything else. I got in about 4 on the trails and 6+ on the road. No my best day running.

Suds, I feel guilty for getting in to the lottery. I honestly never expected to make it in and really just did it because you were all talking it up so much. I am so not worthy of it right now. I have much work to put in before I am ready. A little hill work and trail running yesterday had me at a pretty elevated heart rate. I'm not even sure I can really make the race logistically as it is a good 7 hours away and I have to get a hotel room etc. I may be making the trip on my own just because of the time of year. But now I kinda feel like I need to carry on since you didn't make it in. Once in a lifetime shot right>?

Hey Heather - sounds like you had a nice day! Hope your headache goes away soon.

I live about 2mi from a nice beach and about 20min away from our favorite summer beaches. It's so nice to be able to get to a beach in a few minutes with small kids!

Thanks Suds. If you don't mind, I will have some questions. I've been thinking of it a lot, obviously, and although I have been making a conscious effort to raise the inclne on my TM and get out on the hills, I really need to get more serious. I feel really badly that you didn't make it b/c I know how much you wanted to get in and how hard you've already worked towards it. I am determined to go for it strong, in part out of respect for your desire to run this race. Does that make sense?

John ~ I didn't realize that you made it in. Wow. I hope it works out for you!

Johnny & Cho (and I can't remember who else!) - been thinking about you guys. My "check engine" light came on yesterday. Yay. Dropped the car off and hopefully they can work it in tomorrow.
