Brick scheduled for tonight-45 minutes on the bike followed by 2 or 3 mile run. 50's in Chi-town, but will probably do it at the fitness center since by the time I get home tonight I won't have the motivation to get out there and do anything.
Have a great weekend everyone! Don't drink too much green beer

Boggs - That sux about your back. Hopefully the massage will be able to work some of it out.

Plan says I need to be a slug today so sluggin' I am. Only thing before Sunday's race is a short walk alongside DS's preschool parade float tomorrow and a one hour spin on Saturday afternoon.

Good workout last night, did an hour on the stationary bike, hill route, resistance level 15 of 20. That's the lower end of what I generally consider a "real" workout. Knees were giving me a few warnings, but not too bad, and today they feel good. Whew! I was a little worried.

Also worried about Dad, though my sister said he's showing small signs of improvement. Still, I didn't sleep well last night, so might take off early today to drive up to Seattle. Tri-Tammy is working on getting me a pool or gym pass so I can feel human up there.

Make a quantum leap today Peeps!

Hang in there Matt! We're still praying.....

LRR: WTH is your new avatar? I think I'm scared.

I had these issues in Nov/Dec. Here's what I did in Jan/Feb and continue to do that has really helped. I'd even go as far as to say changed my life.

Just 35min of this each evening. Best $10 I have ever spent.

http://www.amazon.com/Yoga-Zone-Stro.../dp/B00005K9PO

1700 yds in the pool this morning.
200 warm-up
400 drills
3x300 with 30 sec. rest
200 cool-down

I hope the massage helps Boggs.

Good luck on Sunday Hobey. What race are you doing? A friend is running her first ever 5K on Sunday. I promised I'd run with her and the other 15,000 people signed up.

Thanks Tammy! I'm running the 15K at PDX's Shamrock Run festivities. DH is pacing DS in the Leprechaun Lap. The RD said this year has over 14,000 participants. Which 5K are you doing?

I gave the office address (thinking it would arrive monday - only ordered it yesterday) and lo and behold it's here.

Amazing what a difference 10 deg. and no slop makes - Usual 5.1 mile route in 39:45 - about 7:50 miles. First time I've seen that in a lonngggg time.

Big swim meet for DK's this weekend (end of season league meet) - hence the avatar (team logo). Looking forward to see both of them swim hard and have fun. DD9 will probably do pretty well (seeds - 1:12.63 for 100 yd fr; 1:22.46 for 100IM; 32.82 for 50FR; 35.74 for 50FL), but I'm really looking forward to seeing DS11's swims ... He's feeling pretty confident that he's made strides in his fly and free, so it'll be good to see him get a PR or two.

Glad to hear that there's at least some improvement in your dad's condition, Matt ... Hopefully your weekend visit will perk up his spirits and bring more healing.

Reg.

Start of the 2 day taper before Sunday's HM. Masters swim tonight. That's it. Nutin else. Wasn't sure what to do with my free time so DW is going to fill it by dragging me to a horse show. Oh joy. Considering that she has taken up running & biking to be able to spend some time with me, I suppose its a fair trade-off.

Have a great weekend everyone!

2000yd swim since i pussed out and pushed my cert exam to wed. Another 5 days of me cramming incomplete information into a scattered mind. Just great.

Early:

90 minute computrainer ride. Strength: WU 20min, 20min gearing pyramid working into Zone 4 for then 3 x (3 hard/1min easy, 2 harder/2easy, 1min as hard as possible/3 easy)... Feeling pretty good considering the 4.5 hour ride yesterday

30 minute easy brick run, avg pace 8:30, zone 1, beautiful sunrise over the lake!

Lunch:
2900 yards, working on long sets at 90% IM pace. Longest, 1200y at 1:45. Slower than a month ago. I'm not quite sure what is going on. My base pace seemed to be quicker in jan/feb. I'm sure it will work itself out by race day.

Not really tapering for the HM Sunday, I'm training through it. I'll take it easy tomorrow though, short run.
