On this day in 1879, Albert Einstein, the Nobel Prize-winning physicist and one of the great thinkers of the ages, was born.

6.5m with the M-Dawg this morning. We picked up "T" at 2.5 and she'd run the next 3 with us. Found Ironboy around the next corner, recovering from his sprint back from an earlier rendezvous gone awry, and had him with us the next two or more. Ran through some police activity (Ron - you been running again?) before turning for home. Nice mild 32F out - spring is coming!

It's all relative tri-peeps!

Back is still stiff and I have twinges when I move or bend certain ways. Tried to run a little yesterday but could tell my posture was not relaxed and natural. If I still feel this way tomorrow, I'm going to have to bag the half mary on Sunday. I hate to do it, but I know if I decided to muscle through 13.1 it would just cause more harm. We'll see tomorrow.

Today--I have a massage this morning, then I think I'm going to swim because that's the only thing that seems to make my back feel any better.

I love sql. No really, I do...

A gentle hour-long recovery spin for me this morning. My training schedule says I have a 5 mile run at lunch break. Let's see if my work schedule says the same thing.

Boggs - sorry about your back. I know how frustrating it could be.... hope massage helps!

70 min. trainer session including 50min. at tempo. Well, couldn't bring HR to the tempo level, but I believe it is still a quality ride. The end of 3rd week of build up. I survived!
Massage later and 4-5mile recovery run in the evening.

Have a good weekend!

The pool gods are against me today-so no swim. Wonder what I should do, if anything. Coach is traveling so I can't ask...well, I could call her...

Anyway-RACING tomorrow First tri of the season. Indoors 20min/discipline. Good stuff. And I'm racing against the chairperson of our dept and another hot shot faculty member. We've been trash talking each other all week. Sure would be sweet if the secretary won!

Sounds like a much needed rest and recovery day for some. Kate - I hope you are feeling better soon. Boggs - sorry about your back. healing vibes your way!

1:30 hour easy spin on the trainer planned after work. Hoping to cruise through today with no major catastrophes and into my week vacation. Whoo hoo - can't wait to not use my brain next week! We rented a stump grinder (which I have to pick up on my way home) and there's 8 yards of dirt on the driveway waiting to be spread.

Happy Friday everyone!

Did a brickette last night, 30 minutes on the stationary bike and 10 min treadmill run. Bike was moderate intensity, 10 min warmup at 98 rpm followed by a resistance ladder losing about 1 rpm per resistance level but maintained >92 rpm throughout. Was on a phantom bike which reported a speed of 15 mph regardless of cadence or intensity. Ran at between 8-8:30. Rest day today. Good Luck Sparty.

Solid stuff happening on the boards here. Keep up the GREAT work, all.

Boggs: Damn. Sorry to hear. Healing thoughts. Because that's a fun event!

Spar-Tay Girl: Your race competition sounds fun. And it reminds me of my sister in law, who's a decent runner and, to put it in context, still to this day has records at her alma mater. She has a position pretty high up in the Boston Fire Dept. The BFD also, by the way, has many little road races where firefighters try to one up each other. So when my SIL upon first taking the job mentioned she was going to show up at a race, the firefighter runners and even non-runner participants thought they screw it to her by beating her and rubbing it in. Little did they know that in spite having 4 kids she could still run pretty fast. They no longer give her crap. The cool thing for me is that when I do a road race with her and the mayor is there, I get to hobnob with the vocally challenged king of the city.

Me...

7 (?) mile run early this morning. Missed meeting point to hook up with LRR and turned the run into a few pickups trying to hit different meeting points. Finally hooked up for a few friendly and fun miles with LRR, the M-Dawg, and T.

Blew off swim to hit Home Depot to pick up a dehumidifier and off to old house to install.

Great day, peeps!

Fishbowl for me this morning. WU 500, MS 500 drills, CD 500. Dah, whatever.

Then a short run. I got my new shoes in the mail and was dying to try 'em. Two laps of Last Chance. 2.14m, 18:14, 8:32pace.

Busy weekend ahead. Going up to take care of Grandma this afternoon. Coming back home for work/run Sat. Quick swim/bike Sun, then back up. Coming back home on Monday. It'll be busy, but glad I can help out!

Servers are down, means I can post!!

I am so excited! I am doing an unscheduled two-a-day run. Went out this morning for 3 miles in already 36-degree weather. Hasn't been that warm in the predawn darkness in a long time.

Then, while getting ready for work, I heard that it is going to be 50 and sunny this afternoon, so I grabbed some shorts--SHORTS!!--and a short sleeved shirt, threw 'em in my bag with a pair of running shoes, and I am going for a run after work, in the sun, in shorts, in 50 degree weather. Woohoo!! Length to be determined. I am so excited about this, I can't even tell you!

Get out there today peeps and use some energy to move your mass!
