I did my spin workout earlier, around lunchtime and have been in meetings ever since getting back. Finally I'm at my desk waiting for one of our program managers to call me who I need to talk with regarding a project...but she hasn't called me yet. All of which means I've now got some idle time to catch up on today's posts.

Not much noteworthy about the lunchtime workout. Just another ride to nowhere but with good music. The instructor and I had a laugh when Average White Band's "Pick Up the Pieces" came on...we were jamming to it but all the young'uns didn't even know who these guys were. And yeah, that one's on my iPod, too. I normally do weights and core after spin but didn't have time today...had to scurry back to work.

Tomorrow is my long run day since Saturday we will be traveling. 22 miles is the plan but I still need to map out a run. I've got an idea what it will be, just need to see if it will work. Since I'll be starting early it will be dark which means all roads for at least the first hour since I don't have a headlamp. Hopefully I'll have this workout all done and dusted by 9am so I can then have some breakfast, get cleaned up and work from home the rest of the day starting around 10.

Favorite workout -- I'd say I have two. One is the 8-mile tempo run, which can be all at one pace, or done as a progression run (gradual, thirds, DUSA, SFF). I do one of these every week; it really is the main staple of my training. The other is my 2-4-6-8 track workout...200, 400, 600, 800, 600, 400, 200, all run really fast. I don't get to do this workout that often, but when I do, it always feels good; I get to let the dogs out, yet not be too exhausted afterwards.

RichardC - have a great anniversary celebration tonight. Sounds like you really know how to do it right.

4bm - sounds great about the Brooks order. Is that Nite Lite jacket the neon green one? I've seen in the store many times but it is pricey. Still I could use one of them. Maybe I should get that code...

Phill - umm...you might want to stay away from Mexican at lunch.

Tonya - hope you enjoyed the run with your new running buddies. Don't worry about going a little slower with them. Besides I know you'll make it up on you're own (yes, I can say that out of personal experience because I do the same thing). And that's definitely cool that you have a network of off-street trails and such for running. Northern Virginia in general is pretty good with that, a lot of bike trails that link up.

Well, phone hasn't rung yet for my scheduled phone con...sigh...guess I should quit goofing off and leave another voice mail.
