I can't speak to all corrals. I do know that a 3:09 qual time was 4th corral in 2006 and 5th corral in 2007.

Still curious if fox-runr will ponder the EWS.

Huh. With a 3:08:50, I was expecting to be in the 4th corral. I've been in the 5th corral twice with a 3:12:18 time (5200, 54xx). I guess we'll see. Is it my imagination, or are the corral cutoff times getting faster?

I am happy to say I will be there. It is the first winter in a few years that I haven't been able to do all my training outside ... I would rather run Mt. Washington again, over & over for my training, then get on the treadmill for one more workout! See you in April!

Any more news on a Sunday meetup? Also there are a number of people running Boston who haven't happened upon this thread yet. Are we going to let them know?

Training is going great.

Predicting what corral one will be in is not an exact science. But in general I would assume that there are fewer people under the 3:10 range each year. For me, using my PR of 3:27:10 from October 2006, I should be in the 11th corral with a number somewhere from 10,000 - 10,999. If I'm not mistaken, it's actually the 10th corral if you don't count the first one which is for the elites. The one thing that seems constant is that there will always be several thousand people filling corrals with qualifying times from 3:10 - 3:25. That's my goal, to get a new PR this year under 3:25 (and I'll be an old fart of 52 YR'sOA in May!).

Wow, 25,000 entrants and sold out, eh? (why am I talking in Canadian?) That makes this year's event one of the top five races in the U.S. in entrants, right?

It's still seven weeks away, so I'm sure we'll get more than enough people wanting to meet up for Sunday lunch or maybe a spectator group for the women's trials.

BTW, I'm a bit behind on my mileage but will be ramping up to the 50's per week this week with a 20 miler on Sunday and with much anticipation, the Bataan Death March Marathon 22 days before Boston.

If I remember correctly it sold out last year, too, just not as early. I remember someone on CR desperately trying to talk BAA into letting them in. I registered the day it opened just to be safe.

Going pretty well. Mileage is great (most weeks around 100 miles I've ever had - this will be my 5th since the new year - and I'm doing it on 6 days of running) but I'm much slower than I would prefer. Very unsure of what is a legitimate goal for the marathon right now. Hopefully a couple of races will help me out there. Competition has been hard to come by, but I should have a good half marathon later this month to push me a little.

You?
