Be well Kevin!

4boys - Maybe it's time to look into a home pool?

Me - Gonna try another double today. Gym at lunch, running at home. I'm getting to run with my older son again. He doing basketball and soccer in school. His speed and stamina have dramatically improved. And he's really having a good time, too! I'm so proud I could burst!

It was tough to figure... perhaps if you'd mentioned that cheese curds were your post run recovery snack of choice it would have been clearer?

I still can't comprehend the weather some of you are dealing with. Sunny day here today in California - a nice break from the rain we've been having. Relatively cold in the mid 40's (for us wimps) but nice running weather, with zero wind.

Just 7 easy miles with 10 strides. all very uneventful.

hello all -

Everyone is busy already.

Hawk - good luck with the work schedule... Did you see RW daily quote today??

My feeling is that any day I am too busy to run is a day I am too busy!
John Bryant, deputy editor of the London Times, 1994

Not sure if I can follow that but it's good in theory.

Tonya - have a wonderful time at the Opera
kfuller sorry about the house of germs....

Everyone else good to hear about your days.

I ran last night late outside and actually it was warm. Ran outside last night and it was tough. I had to push thru it. Made mental commitment to really keep as many runs outside as much as possible weather permitting.

Today another 5 outside but it is very very windy. Figures the weather would turn as soon as I promised myself no to do the TM.

Good morning everyone. I am back from the gym and I got in 5 miles in 41:20. Later today I have a chiropractic appointment and I hope that it will help me feel much better. I assume it will. Keep up the good running and tomorrow I am hoping to get in a run outside. I think we are scheduled for snow again on friday. I had 10 or so minutes of shoveling snow today. Anybody want some snow?

I will take some as well! 6 - 12 inches would be great.

4.22 miles for me over lunch. Was scheduled for more than that, but it was -5 degrees (-15 wind chill) and the little tiny slit of skin I left exposed (between nose & eyes) started throbbing from cold so I hauled it in. I'll probably run again tonight (treadmill after work) so I'll make up for it.

When I ran yesterday it was 47 degrees with a 41 windchill, and today it was -5 and -15 respectively. Holy crap!

Same here, Nirvy. 15 degrees right now with -1 WC. Not as bad as yesterday, but still pretty chilly.

Decided to go ahead and run today. I have a VRAA team to support, you know. I was going to do speed work, but quickly realized that the speed work I have planned is going to take too long for a lunch hour, so I decided I'll just do that tomorrow after work.

So while I was running my 8.26 miles today, I saw a commercial for the SuperBowl and realized, hey, I am scheduled for a 22 miler this weekend. Guess I'll be doing my two favorite things on Sunday afternoon! HELL yeah.

Hey ya'll,

I don't have much time to reply right now, but I'll get through everyone's stuff later this evening. I got in 3 miles yesterday around a 9:20 pace, was supposed to be 6 but my boyfriend and I cut it in half because he insisted on running about 5 hours after giving blood. He's stubborn I ran 4 miles today between accounting and microbiology lab. 9:25/mile average today and no ITBS pain.

Time to get some more work done and I need to memorize the 20 primary amino acids and their structures for my biochem quiz tomorrow. Have a good day ya'll!

I got back from a late afternoon indoor workout a little while ago. Temperature here is nothing like what some of you are getting and I thought about switching up today's cardio workout with Friday's recovery so I could be outdoors. But in the end I decided to stick with the plan and I'm glad I did.

So I went over to GMU and tried emulating a spin workout on a stationary bike; it worked pretty well! I used the interval program, cranked the intensity level up to 12 and went at it hard for 45 minutes. I even did some "standing climbs" out of the saddle -- I think the riders next to me thought I was nuts. Anyway I got a pretty good read on how far I go in these sessions.

48 minutes total including short cooldown, 16.33 miles (20.7 mph), 580 cal. 153 MHR (right in the 85% zone for me). And oh yeah I probably forgot to mention but I did buy a cheap HRM watch at Target a couple of weeks ago. It's uses some kind of "EKG technology" instead of a chest strap. The good news is I was comparing its readings the whole time with what the bike monitor was telling me, and at least compared to that, the watch was spot on. Not bad for $50 watch!

Great runs everyone. As for me, almost time for basketball. Go Hawks!

Great runs thus far today! Thank you all for the nice welcomes in yesterday's thread

David- incase you didn't see yesterday's thread, thank you again for the encouraging words. I did a 5k in the fall and ran 23x can't remember. Kind of disappointing, even though it was about 4-5 months from when I started running distance. Currently my runs are anyway from 8min pace-7:35 pace depending on the distance. I hope I am as successful as your former training partner. I'd really like to get my 5k down to 20 minutes and my half marathon down under 1:40.

Today is my scheduled active off day from running (I either cross train or just lift one day per week and take one day completely off) so I lifted today. Tomorrow will be 5 or 6 depending on whether or not we have to train the women's soccer team at 8am.

Enjoy the rest of the evening! I'm off to class for the next few hours.

Afternoon report.

30 minutes on the stationary bike and a 30 minute core workout. Now I'm ready for one of those Supersets that you guys were talking about earlier.

I've got room for some snow here fuller.

Vashondan-- I think the rain you are getting is turning into snow by the time it gets here. Just hope the weather gets colder up there.

Some shin pain that didn't ease up after 2 miles. So two miles in 19 min today.
