Good going Annie! I woke up early this morning and went to the pool before work ... step one in restarting an exercise program now that I'm finally at the end of my cold ...

KZ, you crack me up. Welcome back!

TB: Where are you?

Alright, have to do step two now ... get on Mr. SB (stationary bike!)

Cold again...

I made a decision last night... to keep things exciting, I plan to try these three sports next (hopefully this year): Speedskating, wrestling and diving (as in Alexandre Despathie).

Ran last Sunday, Monday had the shoulder poked and prodded, Tuesday, tm run, Wednesday shorter tm run, Thursday, faster tm run with loud tunes, sweat flying all over the place.
Today, no running, core and fizzio exercises after work. Not a lot of mileage but did what I could, hopefully next week I’ll be able to lengthen my distances. Also seeing a sports medicine doctor about the results from my shoulder.
DR
Have a good weekend all.

Thanks Merc! I was thinking JELLO (always room for JELLO!!) but what the heck, mud could be fun too!

DF: Who are you going to see? Lacroix? I like Sun.

Going to an intensive Yoga session on hip/lower leg stability this weekend...

After consulting my massage guy, I (he) figured out that my knee issues are coming from higher up the kinetic chain... iliopsoas (hip flexor) attaches to T12-15 and if it is tight, compresses the nerves that send signals down to your VMO to activate so your VMO, no matter how strong, won't react to keep your patella stable (since running action causes the Vastus lateralis to pull the patella outwards). Prescription: Strengthen the hip flexors (psoas and illiacus), then massage, then light stretching. Today: no pain.

Believe it or not, by tuesday and wednesday, temps will be above 0!!! Ice cream time!

Df7 whohoo good to see your out and about. Maybe we can get out for a run on the mountain soon with the group.

DR It's amazing (I'm finding out) just how much one injurry can effect the overall functionality of the body. Case in point, according to the Osteo guy the partial dislocation of my shoulder 2 years ago may be resposible for the stifness I had on my spine, which can have an impact on my back ect. ect... Any way I am now a believer that even if one only runs we function as a whole unit, upper and lower body and we need to maintain strength and harmony with both to continue to function with minimal injury.

... Next thing you know, you'll be hunting for a "life coach". Whole unit, man ! An ostheo once told me my occasional knee pain could be related to mis-aligned jaws. I offered him my best Shane Macgowan smile. Be septic, like a tank.

Could the sore knee and mis-aligned jaw have anything to do with the strain of foot in mouth...

Damn we have are own club.

COOL!

I'm about to head out for my run but not before half a slice of cheesecake and a bowl of ice cream...

Back from Calgary. A short and intense trip meeting the client for the first time. Naturally, many take away issues along with additional work accumulating on my desk during my absence

Fortunately the medication worked and my flu/cold/bug was under control.
I was able to run both days during my absence on the treadmill. Nothing special but 30 minutes at an easy pace. The heart rate at this easy pace was that of my base pace. Dang, this bug had me on the ropes.

Ran for 45 minutes this morning at an easy pace and the heart rate was under control. Tomorrow will be my first outdoor run in 3 weeks. I'll run for about an hour and hope that things do not fall apart.

I just confirmed my registration for the marathon this October. Now the 9 month journey begins...

DR: Oddly enough, I didn't have any beef but we went out for sushi.

Have a good one

Am I posting in the right thread???

I'm just emerging from a series of rushes that kept me silent and doing nothing but work and run (running is the only think keeping me alive at those times).

Alas, I missed the big party last Saturday. We arrived in Mtl not late enough to miss it all, but after driving in the snow around Drummondville, we felt like going directly to bed. And I had to work Sunday too. Sorry about that SS, I'm sure it was a blast.

But I have this weekend off

And I just come back from the mountain and I had a great long run. You know, those kind of run where you feel great, nothing bothers you, you just enjoy the sun and fly. I just love it.

TB: which marathon R U running in October? BTW happy belated birthday and say Hee Haw to your good health

RG: Thanks for the kind words. The best gift I could receive for my b-day is a full recovery from this bug. The plan is to run the Marine Corps marathon in Washington D.C. on October 26. No motivation like having Marines yelling at me to keep me moving to the finish line.

Ooh, I think I'll just hang out on the treadmill tomorrow.
