by race time it was pretty good, but a few hours earlier, look out!

I got up and looked out the hotel window (in Cambridge) and the rain & trees were blowing sideways - wind must have been 40+ MPH

Well, as I recall it was over 60, which to me is too hot. Enough for me to get calf cramps around mile 20 and have to back off the pace, anyway. I'll take cold and rain over 60+. At least, if I'm trying to PR!

BTW, I replied to your post about ING Georgia in the PRT. I'm also thinking of running it as a Boston tune-up this year.

Yes!!! Any and all help is needed!!

As of today there's exactly 14 weeks until Boston. So I finally started training again yesterday. That's plenty of time for me.

Anybody planning on doing the Eastern States 20 as a tune up on March 30?

Sounds like a bunch of people will be in town watching the Oly Trials on Sunday. What about a lunch gathering on Sunday after the trials so the runners can do their own thing later that evening? I think it worked out well last year from what I recall. Yes? No?

Lunch Sunday could be good.

Hi all,
I hope nobody minds if I butt in. I'm an ex occasional poster (but daily lurker) at Cool Running. (I went by the name "slimfastshady" there but changed for here having realised that i'm actually not that "fast" and as a white Irish guy who doesn't see any sun for about 7 months a year , "shady" was probably a bit of a stretch too.)
Anyways...I'm coming to the States with a couple of friends to run Boston next April and it would be really cool to put faces and say hello to some of the guys whose posts I have been reading avidly for 3 years.
Whadya think ....would that be ok ?
derek

Anybody want to do a nice little long run with me on March 30, three weeks out from Boston?...

http://www.bataanmarch.com/

I just signed up and got my airline tickets and hotel room! GULP! Yeah I'm a marathon maniac. Or at least I'm going to apply to be one. Maybe I should start doing some long runs, eh? Actually I've had a rough time getting motivated but the Bataan March will definitely motivate me. So the next few weeks my longs will be: 12.5, 15, 17, 15, 20, 15, 23, 15, 26.2 (Bataan), then three weeks until Boston.

Just joining in at Kickrunners! (Former CoolRunner as S Agsten). I'll be running Boston as well. Got my airline tickets and hotel (Waltham?) I'm currently scouting out the best place to watch the Trials on Sunday. Has anyone set up a meeting location for Kickrunners to gather near during or after the trial?

Doctor Wu, I think I'll pass on the Bataan march as my final long run!! I've heard interesting reviews about that race!

Cool. I saw that race, and briefly considered it -- it definitely looks like an experience to remember, and my mother-in-law lives near there, so it would be a chance to visit. But then I looked at my calendar and realized I'm going to be at a conference in Atlanta that day, so I'll probably run the ING Georgia marathon as my Boston tune-up.

You have your MM strategy in place? 3 in 3 months, I guess? Warning: it is addictive... after joining, you will suddenly see yourself as a lowly one-star, and start scouring the race calendar and making plans to rectify the situation.
