Yeah hally, I noticed that thread. I gotta go back read through the responses and maybe ask guru Jim a question.

JJJ, thanks for sharing your adventure. Those ice baths are magical, aren't they?

I hope you feel better soon, tomwhite, even if it means diminishing profits from the ... um ... new business venture.

I was trying to figure out what an electric jump rope was too. Welcome back to running, Todd. Hally, thanks for the link to the BQ discussion. Even though that's not any place on my radar, it was interesting reading. TripJay, you crack me up! Re ice baths: our tap water is plenty cold enough for me this time of year. No ice needed!

I really enjoy running in different types of weather (preferably on the cool side of the spectrum). Monday's run struck me as silly due to the cold horizontal rain in my face. Today, I ran the park trails by the Yellowstone River mostly to check their condition for a possible long run there with Jen on Sat. 80% of the trails were completely bare but there were still spots that were treacherously icy -- even on the main trails. I could barely walk safely over these spots let alone run.

Today, I decided to venture off on some of the narrow single track trails for variety. In one spot there was this bump in the trail about 3' tall with dense brush on either side. The dirt trail was completely encassed in ice and I could not find any traction to get up the hill and the shrubbery was so thick I couldn't really walk up the side of the trail. I didn't want to turn around and go back so I finally had to resort to pulling myself up the bump by clinging to the branches. Too bad I was alone as that would've been a good laugh to share with a friend.

Hi Kicksters! Looks like everyone survived Christmas.

Jessies post was a hoot. Thought I was the only one that hauled so much crap up in the mountains, but I think I got you beat. Long run gear may include as follows; Fanny pack, water filter/bottle. mp3 player, camera with 2 lenses, Forerunner, pocket knife, toilet paper, first aid kit, plastic trash bag, silver blanket, lighter, moleskin, ibprophen, extra Cliff bars, aluminum foil, cell phone, benadryl, rope, light, topo and a few other things. Enough clothing in the event I have to walk or stay. On occasion a fly rod.

Todd sorry that your injury set you back so much. Happy healing! Good Runs all, Larry

Still sick as a dog - officially diagnosed as bronchitis. I won't be running for at least another week. Coughing feels like I'm going to dislodge a lung.

argh......

Susan, who simply must get better before Saturday!

7 mile run this afternoon. Was hoping for more, the heart was willing but the legs were sluggish. Will head to the gym tonight and knock out 3 on a treadmill, do some elliptical & school my boy in some raquetball.

Dennis, get out there and do another mile to join the Crazee 8s: mike, Peter, perchcreek (heal knee!), mari (TBA), gin (with a sore calf?? EZ, girl!), lyndensweetiepie, and choovie.

I feel like such a layabout doing only 4.4 miles at 8:45-ish pace, avg HR 149.
Notice anything different about me (fluttering eyelashes)?

JJJ, epic Christmas run. Are the feet speaking (softly) to you? I'm liking the Sarcasm shirt. We need to come up with a Taper Tantrum tee.
OM, Sally ... oh, YEAH!
millbot, is there anything you don't know? I wonder how many, Canucks included, know the real meaning of the day. Heckuva run there, dood.
Marie, make it sans oats. You can always add them later.
Opie, wish I could have seen your expression. Kooky!
ToddEP, were you able to do any x-training in the 4 months? We can all relate about disappointment with pace, but you know it will come back. Hang in there.
(((tomwhite))) (((Susan)))

Todd - ouch!!!

tomwhite - I have some crud to fight as well - so no run today, but will run tomorrow

Hi Perch! hi Tory!

Had to get up at 5am this morning to run 6 miles before Caverjen went to work. It was 28F and foggy. I ran a sluggish 6 miles. Runs the past couple of days have been harder for no reason I can put my finger on.

Kids have been playing with their new Wii all day. My arms are a bit sore from boxing with them.

I thought an electric jump rope zapped you if you missed, like shock therapy.

1500 yds in the pool, steady 53s laps, then 60 min on the stationary bike. Then PT exercises and stretching.

1800m in the pool today, with 12x100m steady in the middle. The last one came in at 1:38. I'm quite pleased. I swam two of the 100s with hand paddles on for the first time and found it disconcerting. You have to be really careful making flip turns with that kind of leverage on your front end or you find yourself surfacing two lanes over to the left of where you started.

Susan, and all the other sickies, you just be getting better now.

Sans, you're already off and going. Must be all that XT.

Hope this crudbusting works for everyone who is feeling sick...
>>>crud<<<
Today MrF cut stuff up with his chainsaw and I made piles. I kept telling myself hill climbing is good for the legs. Thankfully it will be raining tomorrow and I'll get to run because he doesn't want to work outside in cold rain.
JJJ, cool shirts, and even cooler run yesterday.
SS, lovely!
tomwhite...I could be rich....
Opie, I don't think jumpropes are as addicting as Garmins. Be safe!

Geez I can't really say. All those sparkling gems and polished metal of your crown are kinda blinding me right now

Those miles are starting to look goot.

Okay here's the Tee.
Still battling my cold but I think it’s starting to get better, definitely not bronchitis like Susan. Hopefully I’ll be back to running in the next couple of days. I feel like I’m wasting my vacation time…plus IRC to boot!
