Feel better Maria! Good luck at the doc today.

You too, Tom.

I second the foam roller recommendation for the ITB issues, Tiff.

Theia: Relationship yuckiness kept me up last night. Your softball team sounds a lot like our old softball team (The Ultraviolet Catastrophe....there's a really, really nerdy pun in there I'm too embarrassed to explain, but "Catastrophe" was apropos). We considered it a major victory if we escaped the first inning slaughter rule.

Jill: It was an amazingly cool run. I just wish I had been in better spirits for it. You're getting really speedy, btw.

Litch: My nips chafe brutally after about 8 miles. It'd been a really long time since I'd run that far before last Saturday, and I completely flaked on the Body Glide. That was an unpleasant shower. The worst though is my Camelback, which gets my lower back really badly. Talk about sneak attack shower pain!

PC, your DD must have been doing some serious consoling this weekend.

When I went to Fleet Feet to get my shoes this summer I noticed body glide on a display. I bought a stick and put it on the counter with the shoes. The guy who helped me said he had run like 38 marathons in the past. When he scanned the body glide stick he paused for a second and looked respectfully at the stick and said "that's a life saver" and then scanned the item. That stuff is very good. No problems whatsoever if I use it. Bear in mind I don't cover the distances that most of you do but still no chafing problems.

Ok back to sick sleep land.

Do you wear shorts in this weather? Is it possible to chafe with pants on? Just curious....And I think you should call your thighs meaty. Delicious.

Regarding the Body Glide thing, I've found that Astroglide is helpful for the armpit area...I soak a little into the shirt's armhole opening and helps keep it, well, slippery. It's a little too runny for the crotch/thigh area, though. Also wonderful for wetsuit put-on, as long as you're prepared for the strange looks....

Ummmm - thanks.

I was on the TM, wearing a pair of shorts that I have worn many times before. Still a little tender down there. Body glide and compression shorts for tomorrow...

Tim you are by no means alone in this...My thighs aren't fat but I still have to either wear compression shorts (love the nike 2-n-1 shorts - other companies have 'em too but haven't tried them yet), use lots of body glide or experience the searing pain that is chafing.

Back from 10 miles at lunch in 1:30:02 (9:01/mile). Not a bad run. Very solid one, actually. And the sun came out for me as well, though I was slightly overdressed and got a little cool from sweating too much. The only problem with the run is that I pushed the pace a bit and was still slow. But, it's just getting the miles in at this point. I reckon I've done burned up all my speed. And I'm just glad to put this one in the books.

Man, we had a company coed softball team here for a couple of years and it was ugly! I think we won one or two games in two years and one was a forfeit. We did win the Sportmanship Award both years, though.

I remember one guy in particular, actually he's one of my fellow reporters, who I was afraid was going to break his leg just running to first base. Not that I thought he would trip. But just watching him run I was waiting for something to snap. I don't think he'd run in 20 years. I'm pretty certain he hasn't run since.

We had this other guy on our team who looked like Mike Tyson and had some pretty impressive arms. He was our IT guy. When he got up to bat, everybody on the other team backed up. He would then proceed to dribble one to the pitcher or maybe pop out to the shortstop. I don't think he ever hit one out of the infield. He had just never played the game before.

Maria, I hope the doc tells you what's up...hopefully it is just muscular like everyone is saying. I had a similar type of symptom and swore I was having a 4-day long heart attack, but it was chest muscle and they gave me some muscle relaxant shot that made it all go away... Please take it easy until you feel better (like stop lifting weights, maybe?)

Biah - nice to see what you look like

Sorry, LH didn't mean to embarrass...I'm just a girl who likes a meaty man-thigh Sorry you're in pain....

Thanks, KP. I figured it was about time...

Tonight I have a sprint workout with long intervals...Going for my first ever 8:30 mile (I'm normally ~11) in a set of 4 total miles....I'm scared but I have a new outfit so maybe that will help...
