I used to have sore throat/crud symptoms occassionally, but if I got a little goldenseal on it pronto, it often stopped it in it's tracks. If not, 7 days of anything usually worked.
Our congestion concoction is tea of catnip, mullien, coltsfoot, maybe some boneset.
Ooops... i missed that comment the first time through. Well?

I guess I should explain about the chain saw...

I want one SO badly, but I have absolutely no need for one. I just want to "play" with it! (and wear a hockey mask too! ). But Mrs. Labduck is wise and keeps me away from them. But I still really, really, want one.

Me too, Lab. It will be utilitarian, and fun.
Don't worry, SS, it will only be used to clear dead wood...
and the occasional tree or large limb that falls across the road. I don't want to be stuck by myself with MrF away and no close neighbor, and not be able to saw my way out!

Finn, I'm sending help.

(You can't see them, but they have really nice socks too.)

......are they ''Planking??''

JJJ, stop biting those nails now. Peeling is much more satisfying.

Soooo ...

These days, doing all my workouts at the rec centre, I have to pack a fair amount of stuff for the walk over (only 10 minutes). To save time and space, I put my gym stuff on under my pants and top.

So I did my row, weights, abs, planks, stretch ... dum dee dum.

Changed into my swim stuff. Tried to run in the therapy pool, but there were three disabled adults and their caregivers in there having quite a bit of fun. Went into the pool and "ran" medium effort for about 15 minutes, but I really wanted to weight-bear on that calf today so ...

Hey, Pro, you still awake?

Changed back into my pants and hit the trail, up the logging road to the lookout, gazed down on the growing town (MAN, they've built up to THERE already? ). Started back down.

Hit the urban trail portion, soft and leafy and slushy, so I just picked up my feet and, yeah, I ran. Not far at all, really, but PT really wanted me to do the therapy pool running for a bit longer.

No harm no foul. It really was such a meagre distance. But after 4 weeks and 4 days (gee, probably 4 hours and 4 minutes too), it felt damn good.

(Oh, yeah. I forgot to pack my gonch, so with the gusty wind today, it felt cool too. )

BTW, thanks, choovie and FF, for the suggested reading material. Runin', you do not want to get me going on that subject. For now, I'll just continue my corny responses to yooz guyz and not get into agri-industry rants.

Congrats, SS, you're on the way back. Now get back in the pool.

Who's the kid in Ilene's avatar photo?

It's been ages since I ran in the cold and dark. Sometime last winter, probably. I was injured back in August when the days were long and warm, and what little running I've done since then has been during daylight, so I'd forgotten that these runs in the darkness can be really enjoyable. The world contracts to a small cocoon, and you're more aware of the sounds, like the click-click that my orthotics make in my shoes, or the slap of a swan-wing on the river. I did four untimed miles, and was so glad to be out there that I did one a little faster, maybe 6:45, and it felt good to open it up a bit.

Okay, Cassad. You too.

One ... two ... three ...

Now be careful, please? We want you to stay back.

Aw, youz guyz are just so sweet today -- SS tippy-toeing through the slushy woods, labducks putting up Xmas decorations early for the benefit of their happy cats, and....

I just love this smilie:
I want to post him everywhere!

I ran 3.5 miles as planned, gradually building up. This was back at my regular easy pace, or pretty close, @10:14. It was 43 and very windy, so a little bit of a struggle at times but not as bad as I expected. In the midst of my regular routine, it would have been harder, I think, instead of after the break I had.
I wore the tights for the first time this season, but I didn't hear any wolf whistles, I guess because it was dark.SS-I know what you mean and I'm happy for you.

After work I went to the gym and did 35 mins elliptical, then some bench presses, planks, and lite abs. Then a little stretching. Everything felt pretty good, and the coup of the evening is an Eric Clapton Crossroads Festival on TV tonight. Plus 3 hershey's kisses.
