nothing of importance to add today from my neck of the woods. It's unseasonable warm but very windy here today. It would be a good day for a run, but I'm feeling old today. My shoulders and neck ache to the point of pain at times. Hurts to turn my head sometimes and I get stiff quickly. Not sure what's up with that. I'll take some ibuprofen and do some stretching/yoga moves to try and loosen up. I think I'm going to go back to taking glucosamine also. I wasn't sure it was doing anything to help, so I've been off it for about a month now and even after my 10 mile run yesterday, my knees felt a bit stiff going up and down the stairs in our home. Normally that doesn't bother me. So, maybe the gluco was doing something beneficial.

nice racing Riley, nice long run Johnny and good runs for everyone else also. sounds like a good bike ride, Hally. Glad to hear there are a few folks resting today also. Lab - sorry to hear you are still having some pain from friday's run. I'm hoping it's just taking a bit longer to heal than what your podiatrist thought.

....tammy//......1600mg.......90-day minimum to get results on glucosamine.......

full stomach, plenty of water.......

(and this is what I do on my Day Off??)

It's always nice to have a pharmacist on staff, tomwhite.

Great photo, Riley!

I have no idea what those numbers in mcsolar's post mean but they are impressive. Hope you have fully rehydrated by now and are ready for more

I never did get around to running today but did attend a running club Thanksgiving potluck. Yum!

Howdy folks

Great, Great run MC. I would have guessed the recovery to be slower. That speed and distance just boogles my mind.

Glad that the new soles are working out, Johnny. I might be a candidate there. Nice long one.

Well DD, SIL and my new GrandDawg arrived a day early for the Holiday
Her name is Molly but I call her DevilDog. Here she is giving me a loving tug on the beard.

When I woke up my legs felt like logs of rancid Spam.
I knew it would be tough, logistically difficult, if not psycho-physically, to do a second run, so I bumped the morning run up to 13.
Tammy, I quit taking the glucosamine/chrondroitin (sp) right after the kidney stone incident of last June, haven't noticed any new knee pain, so I'm probably going to stay off of them. I don't know if they ever did anything or not. Probably losing some weight did more for my knees than glucosamine ever did. NOT INTENDED TO INFER THAT YOU NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT, as I've said many times, you look fine, quite hawt actually. Whew, glad I added that statement before I sent this, I'd be hit with a brick or something.

Riley, congrats on the 5K and a nice picture of you.

Nice picture of the GrandDawg, JJJ, with those blue eyes Devildog is a good call

I read the above and said to myself "oh, johnny is saying I need to lose weight eh???

but then Johnny quickly saves himself from death by brick. And even scores himself a few extra points by using "me" and "quite hawt" in the same sentence.

Hi guys!

17 km (that's 10 mi and a smidge for you Murkins) on a lovely magical rail-trail with DS keeping me company from the company of his bike. I ran most if it nice and slowly but ran the second-to-last mile at 8:35 and the last at 8:00. Now I be tired, although a nice white-chocolate peppermint mocha went most of the way down to my toes in a most lovely sort of way.

Coach has scheduled another recovery week for next week. I've stamped my little feet, but she Will Not Be Moved. I'm hoping for LT numbers tomorrow.

Hmmm. What to make for dinner? How does roast breast of goose sound?

10 uneventful miles today, but the weather was lovely.

5 1/2 miles for me which is a milage PR for me! A couple of walk breaks and a visit with a neighbors dog and it took me a little over an hour. about 11:30/mile pace for the running segments. 10:27 pace kick. 144 avg HR, 160 Max HR.

Riley/Susan...isn't that your inaugrial first ever race run? Great picture.

JJJessee...Is grand dog a Siberian Husky? They had an episode on Animal Planet about them and the Ididarod. Great dogs...lots of energy and stamina!

Howdy, everyone. It's been a whirlwind weekend and I've just scanned over what I missed here.

MS, I'm glad your Storm seems to be feeling a little better and I'm praying for a better diagnosis than Cancer.

My DH and I ran the Living History Farms off-road race yesterday. I haven't put together a race report yet, but I will. The short story is that it was fun, but extremely slow due to the enormous crowd - almost 7000 people. There were lots of places that the pack slowed to a crawl while runners at the head of the line negotiated obstacles. I had to warm back up several times because the wait to get moving again was long. It was only 6.8 miles but it took me something like 1:35:XX to finish. I expected a fairly slow time, but this was way slow and mostly due to all the stopping and starting. Now that I've done this once, I don't feel compelled to run this race again. I enjoyed the fact that it was cross-country, but it didn't feel like a race because of the crowd. (I know, I know, if I could just run 6 minute miles I could be in the lead pack and not have to deal with crowds ).

JJJ, can Spam actually go rancid? I didn't know that was possible...

"I'm late!"

Nice to read all of the Sunday action. Plenty o' good workouts going on.

mc - I've used the Jack Daniels training program and he has a few TLT (tempo/long/tempo) runs that end up being 20+ miles.
So, today was a long run ..... 17 on a hilly road near Eastman Lake. It went fine, with a fast last downhill mile.

Yesterday's Turkey Trot 5 miler was fun. I ran faster than I though I would, which is always nice. I was shooting for 35 low something, and came in in 34:13ish getting 14th OA and first master. (in a very small field!) The best part of the day was the post race raffle. They were giving away the usual fare .... Starbucks and Jamba Juice cards, gift certificates to local businesses, etc .....
My friend Myron and I stood in anticipation of scoring a fabulous prize. They called Myron's number, and he sprinted up to the podium and was presented with an item that every runner needs .... a plastic barn owl

Here we are posing with the cute little fella

Fun stuff!

Take care
ROAR! "What every runner needs." Well, maybe it will keep the Canada Geese away so Mustang doesn't have to eat the vile things. Congrats on the AG win! This group is [French] formidable [/French].

Um, Sierra, moving that thread is forbidden unless the Mover includes her very own Desperately Dreadful Photo.

yeah, but the taste is about the same.

Ken, Yes DevilDog is a Husky, not sure about region of origin, I'll ask DD tomorrow

Riley/Susan...isn't that your inaugrial first ever race run? Great picture.

No, I've run a couple before, quite a bit faster (30 mins, 31 mins). First one with a chip, tho! The winner yesterday was a boy about 18 years old who ran it in 15 mins.

This was posted over at that other board so if you've migrated here I wanted to make sure you saw it:
You know what I figured out? It's much more fun to brag about my son than about myself. Maybe there's hope for me after all. We just got back from the soccer tournament. His team won!!! The final was so exciting we were all about to come unglued. There was no score when a friend called from the Tulsa half marathon, and while she was trying to tell me about it, our team scored. It was so loud, and my friend is from Venezuela so she understood. Just enjoy the game, she said, and we said goodbye. That was the only goal. We went out for pizza as a team after the awards ceremony and it was fun.

You know that old saying, when one door closes another opens? I think I just experienced that. If I had ran the marathon, I would have missed this today, the first tournament they've won. and who knows when it'll happen again?

I'm glad you posted that here Opie. I did read it over at CR and I think that is such a very very cool thing - a wonderful way to see the silver lining and the potentially missed opportunities and memories because of missing the marathon you wanted to run (but will still be able to run again another year)

Hey, you lot. I got busted for shooting geese in a two-day-old thread. I'm pretty sure it was the two-day-old thread part I got into trouble for, anyway.

Hamish says, "When" (boing) "can" (boing) "we" (boing) "go" (boing) "hunting" (boing) "again" (boing) "???" (boing boing boing)
