Good Morning Kicksters!

I got up for an semi early run. 6 slow Sunday miles in 28 degrees. It was actually very nice, no breeze. I was nearing the end of the road I tripped on Friday and I thought, Look - no hands (aka - no fall) and shortly after that, I tripped - but luckily did not fall. What the heck is up? Must pick up feet!

We'll be off shortly for my son's indoor soccer game and then off to watch UCONN in the Big East Finals for soccer.

Happy runs & x-training to all!

Wow, be careful out there, Pink. The strangest thing I have tripped over (so far) was a tangle of fencing wire sitting in the road.

Ilene, Marie, hippo, & hup, I hope your races rocked your socks.

Go Patrick! (Maybe he's done already.)

Go Susan!

On tap for me today: Ready, set, rest!

Morning everyone,

3500 yards in the pool in a bit over an hour. Fortunately you can't trip and fall there. I like it when a guy jumps into my lane, passes me on his first or second lap of his 1000 yard workout, and then starts to realize that hey, swimming is tiring. Reeled in a couple dudes that way today. For some reason, wimmin don't play these games.

Another year to gnash my teeth over yet another loss to Ohio State. Grrr.

Good morning.
I never got around to doing my run this morning and now I'm at work early to open the library until my replacement arrives. Dave, while you can't trip and fall in the pool I used to bang my head on the end of the wall from time to time usually when doing the back stroke. Guess I am a slow learner. I also had a head-on collision with another swimmer who was sharing my lane -- her fault of course. hehe. That head-on collision really hurt.

Pink, I'm glad you didn't get hurt this time. Since you didn't, I have to chuckle because anyone who has ever seen you run knows how light on your feet you are! Yes....pick up those feet!!

I did 9 miles this morning. I ran 2 miles of the Turkey Day route. I always love the Sunday before Thanksgiving on those streets. I'm not kidding when I say I saw around 20 or so runners, just in that 2 mile stretch! Everyone is so friendly and it puts you in the mood for the holiday! I can't wait! Now if the rain they are forecasting would just pass.......

Pink, I hate roads that jump up at you!
My very good friend just BQ'd in Philadelphia. Woohoo! I have a Boston room mate now, if I can stay healthy that is.
Well, today nothing hurts. I did 4.21 so slow I felt I could go on forever, but I didn't. That makes 21.51 for the week, a nice odd number.
Sorry about the game CassadAAmius. I saw a guy wearing a shirt that said "Lower carbs, eat Wolverines." I wanted to take him out for you but he was bigger than me.

Pink, I was sure you would check in today with a swelled up and sore knee. Glad I was wrong.

More X-training today (raking leaves).
I always weigh the same, which is always 5lbs more than I wish.

No spoiler...
The Revs are playing Houston for the MLS cup, right now! 12:30 - 2:15.

Hi everyone!

I'm hoping to walk a couple of miles today - I'm pretty beat up from yesterday.

The event was a 12 hour run on a trail around Carkeek Park in Seattle. The loop measured at 1.93 miles but there were lots of ups and downs and stairs. Many runners complained of knees and most quit after 10-14 loops. I managed to go 18 loops but had slowed to a crawl by the last, quit after 10:15 and felt like a wimp for doing so. I think there were only 2 still running when I left.

Depending who you ask, my 18 loops added to 7,000 to 8,500 ft of elevation gain/loss.

Time to recover and then get into regular training so I don't turn into the Michelin Man over the holidays. I'm also praying for SS' speedy recovery. We need her back!

20 mi 7:53 avg incl. 10x800m (800 jog) 3:18 (3:53 jog)

target times were 3:20 and 4:00, so i was happy to be slightly under them. ran 8 miles warmup first, then workout, then 2 miles cooldown. maybe a little silly, only one gel and no water. about to finish one gallon post-workout already... it'll be another two gallon day.

here are detailed times:
3:18.5, 3:48.3
3:20.8, 3:44.7
3:15.4, 3:47.9
3:17.5, 3:48.3
3:22.9, 3:51.1
3:18.0, 3:54.7
3:17.1, 3:52.9
3:12.5, 3:48.8
3:13.6, 4:00.6
3:21.5, 4:07.5

had company from a great runner the whole way, and another faster guy was maybe 1/2 mile ahead during the 800m repeats. my partner ran the recoveries faster than i wanted to, and i ran the hard parts faster than he wanted to run, so we kept each other motivated. the 2 mile cooldown, upwind, in the sand, was brutal. glad it's over. next weekend's easy 21 miler will be a cruise.

Hey all, rode 35 miles with a local bike club near Mom's. It started raining 10 minutes before we were done, hope Philly had the same luck (noon)

Have no broadband at Mom's, only dialup. I am in a coffee shop. Will be spotty around here this week, behave yourselves

Interesting workout mc. How did you determine what pace you wanted to run? I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before.

Nice run lynden. I'm glad the legs loosened up towards the end.

I was scheduled to run 5 miles today, but my foot is still hurting a great deal from Friday's run, so I biked 30 minutes instead with an average HR of 132. I'm really getting tired of this foot still hurting most of the time. I'm considering taking the rest of the week off from running, but I'm not sure that will help much since when I took seven weeks off the foot was only marginally better. My podiatrist was very confident my foot would be better by now, so when I see him in two weeks, I'm going to find out what my next options are.

Hey all,
I did the turkey trot in a respectable 35.59 given the fact that I did 5 intervals of walking (to spare my recuping calf). I'll try to attach a pic; unfortunately it doesn't show my new hairdo. I ran with another nice woman so it was a lot of fun, and the weather cooperated as it was about 40 degrees instead of the snow that was predicted.

lab, the fast ones were target marathon pace, the slow ones were easy run pace, so supposed to be 6:40 and 8:00. it's like a fast finish long run, but broken up into intervals... it was a weird one... seemed harder than a fast finish.

Hello all, 16.17 miles @ 9:48 pace, 140 AHR, with a 1.17 mile millbot fast finish™ uphill into the wind @ 9:03 pace (all I had left). Finally got the low bat message on the Garmin, but it still worked for an hour and a half after the message appeared. 67° in town at 11AM, which is at least 20° warmer than normal.

I've been using an over the counter orthodic made by Sofsole (sp?), it's a thin graphite with a pad glued on. I usually remove the pad and stick 'em under the sockliner. They've been becoming increasingly harder and harder to find. Recently I ordered some on line and they''ve changed, the arch is way too high. So based on some advice from Hippo, I've been using the kind you warm up in the oven and then put in your shoe for a custom fit. Today was the longest I've run in them and they worked fine, so it looks like I've got a good subsitute for the Sofsoles.

Next week is step back week, good.

ETA: Forgot to say, the competitive runners handbook came in the mail the other day. I haven't had a chance to look into it a whole lot, but it looks like it's going to be invaluable. thanks millbot, good call.

Few prune-y lookin' doods in here. That's some swim, Dave; holy moly, Hippo ... take the week off for turkey's sake; mc, that's an intimidating windy sandy run (but the planks are not, just so you don't get carried away )

Nice ride, hally.
Hippo, 10:15 is not wimpy, especially on that course. I wonder if anyone went the full 12 hours?

Nice brutal workout, mc.

Susan, that picture is a keeper!

Nice long run, Johnny. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. I still refer to it regularly.
