OK, so I have exercised for the last 3 days---4 mile walk/run Thursday, 5 mile walk/run Friday, and a tough Spin class this morning. My quads are pleasantly sore, but I feel great. I know I have to build slowly back to running, but I also don't feel like I've lost as much ground as I did when I was injured in '05 and didn't have access to a gym. So, I'm feeling much better overall. The sunshiny goodness helps, I know.

Auntie Moe, I still think it's you eyes, glasses or not. That and you have the most amazing teeth I have ever seen.

Wishing good luck to all the racers this weekend, and those of you training for future races, and those of you working on crushes.

Happy weekend, everyone. I'm off to take my kids to the Pumpkin Patch festival. DH bowed out, so this may test the limits of my good mood.

Moe--you were supposed to have a good day today. Go back to bed and start over!

I have coffee. Holy cats, is this good stuff. I'm WIRED.

Time to run...can't wait to hear RR's.

i know who kerik's crush is...there is more than one. however, lest we think any less of our talented, intelligent and adorable K, he's also completely committed, so it's all in good fun.

Back from 4M not as easy as I had intended. I'm trying out some new shoes (Asics Nimbus 9's). I re-tweaked my foot during the race last week, and it's time to admit that while I love the Wave Riders, they don't love me back...Jury's still out on the Nimbuses, but I can already tell they're better for my foot.

Congrats on the 2 hour run, Scratch. Is that a first?

Welcome back to your running mojo, Diane.

Cool gift, Noni. I love me my 205.

Ugh, I know all about bad race pics, Moe, sorry. No reaper though, right? (Hi Mandy) No use crying over spilled milk, but spilled hot chocolate always makes me tear up.

Brandy: At CR I was....keriksen. And rope wise, if it chafes, you ain't doing it right.
Subliminal message: Nylon twisted. It's soft, softens w/use, and it's, ya know....twisted

honestly, I thought you were supposed to use silk scarves for that...not that I know.

No reaper...just a woman who looked all kindsa hurt on the way up the overpass...so at least in comparison, I looked ok.

OK, I'm done feeling sorry for myself.

That rocks! You're going to love it. They're great!

Hey all,

Just back from running and racing. Yes, it was a double. Part of my training group met at the race site @ 5:30am for a nice little 12 mile run, then we lined up and raced the 5K.

Wait for it...

Yes, a PR at the 5K distance after running 12 miles! I'll get a race report up, but here's the numbers:

12 mile training run - 1:37:53 8:09 m/m pace
5K Race - 22:33 7:10 m/m pace

Previous 5K PR was a 23:34 at this same race last year. So a one minute PR. I'll take that. Yeah!

Gotta go get ready to work on that bathroom project. Can't wait to hear about the other races.

Good luck to everyone who's racing tomorrow.

First off: GOOD LUCK to our racers this weekend!! Splendid weather for it.

I missed all of yesterdays thread. Maybe I'll scroll through there later tonight. I did peek in to see if BabyBob was born yet. And my prediction was for 9:45 this a.m. so I guess I'm out.

Watched "Knocked Up" last night. Anyone else see this flick yet?

So Good Morning and Gadzooks what a BEAUTIFUL Fall Day! I spent the first hour of it indoors in a spin class (getting addicted to spin class, love it), but I intend to spend as much of the rest of the day out of doors as possible. Tomorrow a.m. yoga at 7:30 with a long run to follow. woot woot!

But first I wanted to sit back and drink my scrumpy non fat sugar free hazeulnut cappucino (places that roast their own beans rock, it makes all the difference) and read and post with my fitness lovin' friends.

Noni, that is such a great gift! Yeah it's generous but moreover, it shows they really put thought into it. No generic engraved trinket box for you!

So it's 1647.30 miles from here to Tuscon. I pretty much always look pathetic. meow.

I'm off to make The Big Breakfast - OJ, eggs, toast, grits and sausage. yummo!

Happy Trails all!

Wow some good stuff going on this weekend too......

Back from soccer. Our first loss. 4-3. DD1 had two goals. Her best game yet.

Scratch - nice job on the LR!

Tim - Awesome. A speed PR after a 12 mile run. Nice.

I just got back from a little 4 miler in preparation for tomorrow's 20. Bob, it sounds like we're on the same plan, one day off. Unfortunately like Kris it was meant to be east but somehow it got away from me and I was too fast. Must of been the beautiful weather.

Off for a shower. We're heading to my neighborhood's Octoberfest. It's really an kid's version, and an Americanized version of that. In a big field, hay rides, hay maze, bonfire, moon bounces, pumpkin carving etc. More like a fallfest I guess. Fun for the kids nonetheless.

In some somewhat sad news.... Last night after dinner I took a pass by where I though the place was that sold the Bobbie sandwich near me. It's gone. The web site Theia linked me to yesterday said it was there but they must have closed it. When I went to the company's main page the location isn't listed. I'll have to make a trip to the one that's a bit further away. Maybe it'll be reward after tomorrow's 20.

Holy moly! My jaw dropped when I saw this. What an excellent gift, and what cool friends!

The skirt looks fab-u though (and you in it)!

Today's run felt terrible. Ended up with 4 miles in ~51. I was debating about running the extra 9 minutes, but my back hurt every time I went up a hill and I was demoralized about how slowly I was running. When I got home and logged the run, I realized that I was actually faster than my 60 minute run last week and my 2 3 mile runs this week. Now I'm pissed I didn't run the extra 9 minutes. I just felt like I was crawling for most of the run that I just wanted to be done. Well, now I am and I'm peeved at myself. However, I tripped early into mile 2 and now my knee is a little twingy, so it's probably good to rest it.

Food, vacuuming, shower, shopping, etc.

Excellent job, man!

I saw this in the theater this summer and really enjoyed it. There's something about Judd Apatow that I love, though I'm afraid that I'll hate Superbad, so I've put off watching it. Loved Freaks & Geeks and had a warm spot for Undeclared. Plus, Seth Rogan is exactly the kind of guy I want to snuggle up with.

I see the results of our three lovely 30s ladies who ran a 5K are posted....

I hope they don't kill me for posting their times.

Awesome job ladies!

Theia - 25:02

Heather - 30:50

Jill - 29:28

Jenn - Just noticed your post. Funny I rented "Knocked Up" last night and watched it. DW had already seen it. I thought it was very cute. I laughed mostly at the roommates interacting with each other but laughed VERY hard.

Mornin' Gang. . .

Painting the basement today. Why? Not exactly sure. Seemed like a good idea at the time?!

Other than that, it's beautiful up North.

I'm looking forward to reading all the race reports from the week-end!!

My lack of conditioning was evident today. I was in trouble from about the third mile. I fought through until mile eight and then jogged it in the rest of the way. Somehow, I finished 98th OA out of about 3,000. Don't know my time, don't care. Racing plans for Philly are on hold as I'm taking some time off (I'll still run, just not all out). I'll probably just start focusing on Boston now. Gah.

Nice. You don't know of any brides looking for another bridesmaid, do you? I'm fairly well behaved and am willing to follow directions.

Careful with the foot, Kris.

2 weeks ago, I ran 10.6 miles and went over 2 hours of running time. But it's definitely been a big week, Tuesday and Thursday both my runs lasted over an hour and today's was over 2 hours. But tomorrow is just going to be a short easy recovery type of jog to finish getting the miles I want in.

I will say cooler weather makes a big difference for me, maybe. I was surprised at the pace I set today.

I do need to be careful though, my right calf is twinging ever so slightly. I don't think I'll do any sort of speedwork next week, just run everything at easy pace.

Back from family pictures...

I was up and out at about 5:15AM - to get in 19.5 miles. Overall it was a pretty good run. I started off at about 8:30 pace, and over the course of the miles eased into sub 8's... then for mile 16-17, I ran Fartlek and dropped a 7:15 min/mile. I eased up to 7:50 for mile 17-18, then totally slacked for the last mile and a half, and ran a 8:45 followed by a 4 min half mile. Probably my best almost 20 miler (for training purposes I'm gonna call it a 20 miler ) all year.

Off for now - gotta go to a birthday party with DS. Good luck to all the racers this weekend!

Ummmm, so I guess I don't have to post now! Very crowded race, beautiful course, great crowd support, and HORRIBLE nutrition by Yours Truly. Ugh. Missed a PR by nearly a full minute. Meeting the lovely Jill and seeing Heather's GORGEOUS house made the trip worthwhile, though. I'll get that PR next time.

<sniff>

Congrats to Scratch! Everyone else, have a great weekend! Much luck to my girl Natascha B, Mrs. Soul and my hubby's friend MC who are Ironmanning in Kona today.

Great. Now I'm being chewed in effigy. angry9:

Congrats to Scratch, Jill, Heather and Theia!

I ran with the group this morning and felt good. It's really purdy here today. Should be a great day for the football game. I'm writing this from my office and I'm headed up to the stadium in a minute.

As Theia said the place was packed! Jill and I run this course on Sunday's so I am familar with it and I really wanted to break 30 (my 5k PR was really at Broad St 29:46) but this ended up being my fastest actual 5k race. The start was slow because of the crowding, even though Jill and I lined up at the 9min marker. I messed myself up because I stopped at 1.5 for a few seconds because my Morton's Neuroma kicked in and I thought I could shake it out but alas I couldn't and my foot was asleep the rest of the run.

Splits were:
9:44
10:16
9:44
8:13

Overall I'm happy with my results. I didn't plan on PRing so I wasn't disappointed and I even got over my fear of the big bad 5k (a little). Not to mention the lovely company!

I have another 5k the weekend before Philly and I'm actually excited about it and hope to do even better.

Hope everyone else's races rock this weekend. Hugs to everyone!
