Great race SS.

Sunday

4 mile warmup, 9 times 400 meters hard with 1 min. jog

Walk 8 miles

Monday - run 7, walk 7

Tuesday - run 7 miles,,basketball 3 hours, walk x

20 min. one on one against an 18 year old.

Fred - that's a nice 3 days of workouts

I love Joanie

2 mile warm up and 4 miles at just sub M.P. Temps 68 and 91% humidity. Race time temp Sat will probably be about 55 and 50% humidity. Hoping that makes pace feel a bit better!!

Have good 'un

Joanie age grade is 95.5% World class

SS was around 76-77% (?) just a few percentages below National Class

two very fast women!!

Thanks, guys, but it's not really what I was shooting for, which was 3:20. I was on pace through 30k. Then some wiseacre tied a Volkswagen to my caboose. Legs became leaden and the last 12k was not pretty. That's the fickle marathon for you. Still, 3:24 ain't bad at all.

Pretty stoked that Jacqueline Gareau handed out our AG awards. It was a really wonderful weekend with people I care about, and the weather came through when it counted.

I still haven't given up on that 3:20. The Beer Miler, who won the half marathon, still thinks the old carcass is capable of achieving that mark. But that's for another time. For now it's on to other adventures!

Great race SS! That`s a terrific time and age grade. I would not have known what to say to J.Gareau, difficult to come up with something not trite. Best just to thank her for the award I suppose...

Very strong pace on your long run, Evanflein, was that an MP run?

Rad a very slow 11 miler with my son yesterday, he is much betterat sticking to his easy pace, probably because he has done some ultras. I am too impatient and always subconsciously spped up. He has entered an 8 hour run to be held on an indoor track at York University on Dec.12th, limited to 58 runners because otherwise the track would be too crowded! A variety of distances are offered as well as the 8 hour you can chose 50k, 43k, 30k and others allthe way down to a single kilometer. It is a charity event, only about 20 entries so far, oddly there are 3 others from the very small town where we live.

Simon.

SS, you're still an inspiration, even with a VW.

4 M on the TM for me. In the 2 tempo miles, HR averaged 141 and 152 bpm, so I think I'm recovering well. A nice confidence builder for my Half this weekend.

ETA: I think SS was in 11th place on the Age Graded scale, which was reported on the results page.

Wednesday

Run 10 miles, walk 5 miles

The right ankle bone is swollen from last Thursday's fullcourt basketball. I assume that the incredible soreness

after basketball will lead to greater fitness, but that may be an illusion.

I can never be as fast as I was at 40-44, but at 62 new basketball skills are occuring, so what other choice is there?

What the heck is a basketball skill?? Dribbling? Tossing a ball in a basket? What good are those? You need something that will save you from a wolf attack.....like speedy running!

Ran a 5k on Monday for Columbus day, too good to pass up on a day off, even if I am in taper again.

My support crew has the marathon bug! Fastforward will run his second ever marathon with me this Sunday.

Mr Forward is going to be a marathon maniac if you keep at it.

Ilene, that is tres cool. Wish I was as lucky as you, to have someone to travel and run with!

Not good, Ribs or Fred. Well, good on the increased b-b skill, but if it gets in the way of running, fug it.

FO! Thank you for that stat. That makes me really happy! How about that Gwen McFarlan, though: A new world record for a 76-year-old in the marathon at 4:01. And you can bet she's probably ticked she just missed a sub-4.

90' vinyasa. That felt really great, esp targeting hips and glutes.

ETA: Something for you dudes to shoot for:

Male 70-74 1896 3:06:06 2:20:21 90.38% Herb Phillips

But I'm losing my support crew! Instead of waiting on me all sympathetic like, now he rolls around moaning and begging me to rub his legs.

Yeah, Ilene, that might be one of the reasons I'm sekritly glad mr vanflein isn't into running much. Well, can't really now. But he'd be hard to replace as a support crew.

Simon, that's a good to easy MP for me. I'm not looking to PR my next one by any means, but I'd like a nice solid BQ to use for 2012. Probably should've picked a less hilly marathon, but oh well. Hills actually aren't a bad thing for me. I love the downhills and find the variation easier than 26 miles of flat. My PR pace is 8:07, but that's not happening this fall.

10.5 miles outside in the snow and ice tonight. Actually, just the first 1.3 miles or so were sketchy enough that I needed my Spikies. After that, I carried them in my waist pack. Temperatures dropped though, so the return trip had more ice whereas the outbound trip was just kind of wet. I think it was about 30° when I started, and 26° or so when I got back. Temps vary so much around here though depending on elevation so it's hard to tell.

brrrr Erika. I won't even tell you I'm going to wear throw away sweats Saturday before the race. No, I'm not going to tell you that.

5.5 shake out miles at 7:45 pace this morning. Leave tonight to drive half way to Saturdays' race. Will run 20 mins Fri afternoon after packet pick up. This race had about 75 runners last year so should be able to get everything done in about 5 mins.

Going to spend next week around Big Bend National Park, hiking and historical sight seeing and just chillaxing. Hope my cell phone doesn't work too much out there. I'll try to post a finish time for myself and the lovely and gracious

mrs ccrunner.
