FO - I would be afraid of hurting an ankle playing VB that close to a race. Just saying.............

Go for it, FO, and enjoy. No fear. Have a wonderful time at TCM and a great race. Give Ribs a stout hug for me, please.

How's that ankle knot, ksr?

Hi, Fred.

Ran yesterday

Yoga today

Think I'll hit the trails tomorrow. I'll be glad when the marathon is over and I can start getting some elevation, roots and rocks into the program. A bit bored with the road currently.

Great lunch yesterday with Fortunate One and his lovely wife. Also saw divechief, Aamos and husband, the Buehrles, Breger and wife Debbie and a bunch of folks from RA. Great time.

I'm ready to go. I'm doing a live TV interview at 7:30 which ought to be fun. Gun is at 8. Weather is perfect, but not yet for this Texan. I have on a long sleeved T I can throw away at 5 miles or so. Aamos gave me the tip of cutting a V notch at the neck in front and on the bottom so I can tear it off like Superman. Hope I run like Superman too. Spareribs

Good luck to all those racing today!

My month ended with a bit under 200kms, about 120 miles, so a bit better; and I am planning to improve to about 150 miles this month. Off to a good start.

Our son came back to visit this weekend, which is nice, he ran a pretty fast 32k or 20 miles yesterday, in 2:45, while I was at work. Not something I am ready for yet. I do wish my wife would start a walking programme or something as I have no doubt she needs to adopt a more healthy way of life.

Looking forward to the Commonwealth Games tomorrow.

Wish I could know what's going on with the TCM. All I could find for tracking is texts. Don't have a phecking cellphone, so I can't track. Anybody?

Hope Ilene and Fast Forward are having great races as well.

Fred, that's beautiful. Similar looking to the last really memorable trail run I took on.

Simon, nice build. Good for your son. Looking forward to the games too; hope they're safe.

Off to the urban trail for an hour.

Not what the STOOOOPID tracking site said, they had him at 4:02 and plus I didn't get text messages I signed up for!

Hally, thank you! Waa-HOO, Ribs did it. So happy for him. Wondering if he and FO ran together. Hope Byll had a good one too. jjc paced with his usual precision, I see.

I emailed the Finish Line Coordinator earlier in the week (we were team mates at HtC last year), asking him, if possible, to make an extra fuss (like Ribs needed it after his weekend as a celebrity). I hope that happened.

Chip time 3:58:36, the best-planned, best-executed and easiest marathon I have ever run. Perfect conditions, and because my plan was just to get under four hours, I managed it so that I would do just that. Followed the 4 hour pacer for about 7 miles so I wouldn't go out too fast, and then ran pretty easily from there, with a lot of help from both Fortunate One, who broke me out of a logjam, and Prime Rib, who ran me in from 18.5. All we did was check the total elapsed time at every mile and subtract it from 4:00 and calculate what we needed to break four. At 22 miles I was 3:19 and small change and I said to him, "We have almost 41 minutes to run 4.2 miles. Unless I blow up, we're in, and I'm not blowing up."

I had almost even halves, 1:58 first half, and the only reason I slowed a bit in the second half was that from 20.5 to 24 miles there were lots of hills. I could have run longer today.

FO was so much fun to run with! You guys think I talk a lot huh? There were thousands in this race and FO talked to almost all of them! I lost him somewhere around 17 miles which was disappointing because he was a big help to me. More on that in my report.

As to that Athlete Tracking, my guess is that the server got overwhelmed and because this is the first year they have had this feature they didn't plan on it. I have seen this happen with other races. Very few people got any text messages. Also, they sent out a text after you signed up and you had to reply with a "y" to say yes you want to receive these texts and some didn't do it.

I can't tell you how happy I am. From not knowing two years and two months ago if I would ever run again to getting a BQ is a dream come true. Thank you everyone for the encouragement. Spareribs

Oh, bah. It must be the endorphins talking, Ribs. I don't believe FO is a talker. Certainly not more than you.

And what's with making this look so easy? Yeesh. We've been too easy on you.

Oh, all right. I'm over the moon for you, that your dream and BQ have come true. So much support from family and friends, loving support from Prime Rib. What could be better?

In less interesting news, I ran 10k easy, then a 5k time trial, followed by a slow jog for a couple of kilometres to home.

Time trial was 23:14, encouraging though I had a following wind to help. With 7 months to prepare formy first marathon I think I can get in pretty decent shape- Ribs will be my inspiration.

Simon - what marathon are you targeting?

Fred - you must start your workouts very early in the mornings. What's the temps up there now? Very comfortable here for now.

SS - good luck this weekend. You have a goal time you want to share?

Yes, it would be nice to hear from FO and Ilene and Byll.

ksrunr, GL with your foot today. Hope your patience is rewarded. Goal is always to finish intact.

Might ride my bike a bit today. That's about it. I usually cook and bake when I'm antsy. The trick is not to stuff it all in my gob.
