Yup, I think all of us long runners today had a wicked last 5 miles.

Melis - right there with you darlin. Even on the Chicago part, but opposite. I had terrible training and an AWESOME race. But for some reason have been "off" since then. I too think I need a break from 26.2. That is why I am continuing to train, but also popping in on shorter races (hey, they are FUN!) and not leaving my whole season up to the marathon.

KP - woo hoo! That is awesome!

Bob - also very awesome! !

Also Melis - I agree it is too early on the paralysis - but it looks VERY likely. He has sustained severe neck injuries (surgery today actually since he can finally breathe on his own). I suspect there will be more info soon. But apparently he is able to communicate that his neck, chest, arms hurt, but feels nothing in his legs despite the fact that they are broken broken broken.

I pray it is temporary and that the brain injuries will be minimal. That part scares me a lot too - it can take years to determine the extent (and permanency) of that type of injury.
