Breezy and cool out there at 63 degrees, still 84% humidity but damn it was soooo much nicer running this morning! 7 miles run and done. I still have to mow my lawn so I figured I better save some energy for that. If I had run just .6 more I would have an even 50 for the week. It's taking all I have to not go outside and run .6 more miles.

Happy Sunday running to you all!

Yesterday's fitness was walking 18 holes carrying my clubs up at a course near the mountains. Today I'm thinking of breaking my runner's fast and going out for a mid-length run. My ankle feels exactly the same as it did a week ago and I've got an appt. for an evaluation next Friday, so screw this resting stuff! It got to 100 here yesterday, so I'd better get going now if I'm going to do it.

Hellloooo all! We've had some pretty nice weather here this weekend and so I've been out enjoying it! Rode my bike for something over 24 mi yesterday which included a stop at Prospect Park to catch J's kickball tourney and then this morning I headed out for 10 mi on quite chewed up legs. Will let them rest a bit and get out for another 6-8 mi this evening.

Nice LRs! Big G, Tim, boB and Ailarie and nice racing RFTL!

Brandy - how did you race go today?

Dang it, thought for sure Lil Tiger would start her grand exit this morning - perhaps she's just awaiting one last cupcake from the truck pre-labor?

Missy - hang in there, the last few days seem to drag by, but try to relax, get some rest and do things that you won't be able to do for awhile. Maybe go see a movie? You are freakin' amazing go be running on your due date! Super super impressive. BTW, my DD was born on her due date. It happens!

Maria - Did you ever decide on a Fall marathon? I've been skimming threads lately, so I probably missed it.

Breezy, but much cooler here today. Can't wait to hear how Brandy's 15k went!

I got 16 miles done today, on rolling hills (Baker). My right foot issue returned a bit - I think. Could be there I was just tired from yesterday too. I may make another trip back to the Shoe Whisperer, just to see if her recommendations have changed. The ones she put me in, Brooks Dyad, now are a new version (6) and I had to go up a 1/2 size and I'm not sure I like them. They give the bottom of my feet hot spots. Would that mean they are too big? I was right on the fence about what size to get. I'm thinking I should have stuck with the same size, because I was already up in size from my normal. I'm gonna call her now.

Hey all

I started to not feel so hot last night and was still clammy and sick to my stomach this morning so I didn't race. I did go and do camera duty while getting in just under 10 miles. I could run but just not race today you know. Still not feeling too great ...boo

Cindi, I have that issue on version changes too. So worth a trip back - FYI - fee is now $30 grumble. Good to have good shoes in this last bit of the TCM training cycle though know :)

Hi all - yesterday's swim clinic was very informative. Seeing myself in the water - gah! That was ugly. Also not so great was the second one-hour session (the lack of swimming lately showed - 25 was fine, but a return 25 not so much) and being the slowest person in the pool didn't help, but a lot of things the instructor said made a helluva' lot sense, and now it's just a matter of putting into and getting in a lot of practice

Just finished up 12.75 mi of my double for the day - dropped off my car and took the long way back home. Gonna' now head out for a run and a much shorter trip to pick it up now.

Great job RTFL on your racing, and a solid job of running and fitnessing by the rest of you - you all deserve a big round of

GREAT job on all the long runs, folks!

Duck, wait, what? Ya'll are moving? Make sure there is a 50 amp hook-up and we'll be right out!

Cindi, sounds like an emotional race.

Moonie, I bet you learned a ton at the clinic. I could use a serious overhaul of my stroke. It's not too pretty these days.

Speaking of which, my mom came with use when we swam the other day and took a couple of shots. It's a GREAT beach to swim at!

i'll post then go back and read...i hope.

nice swimmin hole there joneses. not much swimming here b/c of the huge surf. a couple of days of east winds have really kicked up some bad ass waves. i was gonna rent a board but it's too big for this surfing rookie. maybe tomorrow.

went out for 14 sloggy miles yesterday - it's pancake flat here so i'm not quite used to the monotonous geography. still managed to average a good 8:30 pace though. last night i also decided to jump into the dog day 5-miler down here. i met up with solarfamily postrace. solardad is looking good after his little spill and seems to be in good spirits. as i was standing there chatting w/the solars i was wringing out my shirt - in any other crowd i guess that'd be bad form but they got a kick out of it.

fun morning and it's nice to run w/people. feels like i have been running all alone for the past week+. dunno where they all came from. great scenery too.

i managed to knock out a 36:21 (7:21 mpm) despite being gassed from y'day's run - good enough for 97th in a field of ~1200 runners. i'll take it.

motorboating....check

crabs.....check

yeah, the kind you eat, thank you. 9 YO nephew had a blast on our big adventure across the bay.

okay, gonna try to sneak a quick atlantic swim in while dd naps.

cheers

maria, i ran leg 7 a few years back. i'll catch up w/you when i get back.

moon, that sounds pretty cool. it may be ugly but worth every bit.

Nice running around here guys, as always.

I did an easy 3.5 miles this evening. That puts me at 52.6 miles for the week, which is not very far off my highest weekly total ever. I'm fairly surprised that I was able to come that close to a weekly mileage PR since it's only been two weeks since the car crash and I'm still feeling achy from it. Plus, I only had one run over 10 miles all week. (Although there were three others in the 6-9 mile range, and three other short ones, meaning I did run all seven days this week).

Heh. The fun part of today's run: I ran down a road that had one of those automatic police speed monitoring thingys. In other words, "Speed limit 25; Your speed is X". There were no cars around, so I wanted to see if I could get it to register me. I crossed the street to run right at it, but it didn't notice me. So then I decided to wave my arms around, figuring that maybe all that extra motion would cause it to see me. And sure enough, the lights came on with a big ol' number 7.

Moonie - that does sound very interesting, I'm probably going to do a 7 week one day/week deal here starting in late Sept to get more efficient in the pool. Did you find that many of the attendees had done something like the clinic before?

Cindi - no real decision yet, except NYC

Nice looking swimming spot, Jen!

Back from picking up my car - ran 3.5 mi to get my pocketbook lightened $500+ (deserved it though for not following thru on some things until now - ugh!) ran 3.5 mi to get back there to put me at 16.25 for the day. Felt a little queasy going back out there (latte and an apple fritter - NOT the mid-double recovery meal of champions for certain) but got 'er done.

Yeah - everyone there hadn't seen themselves on video before or attended a clinic quite like this one, and pretty much everyone was of the S-pull/big shoulder rotation that is the norm.

It was quite enlightening for all - everyone kinda' had their own pet issue or two that revealed themselves in the videotaping that made them cringe (my left arm was quite unique - my elbow hit the water first and then my left hand would splash in thumb first and I would do this swishy-motion with the hand.)

I love the follow-up camp - its held in Kona(!) Relatively cheap if you just choose the basic freestyle camp ($295 for two days)...but of course, that doesn't include airfare, lodging, etc.

OMG I feel like I haven't slept since Wednesday night. Lots of stuff going on and driving since the red-eye flight home on Thursday night. Worked Saturday and today. I need sleep.

I was out the door by 6am this morning for a 10 miler, then packed up the car and went to watch the 5 mile race 2oh mentioned. Wish I could have run the race with (well, behind ) 2oh, but I had to leave the island and get to work too quickly. Got to cheer him in, and then my cousin (his first race!) and my sister, and a quick hello to Dan, then bolted. Glad my family got to spend time with him, at least!

Jen - cool swimming spot

RFTL - hot spots could def mean your shoes are too big. Could be your feet sliding in the shoes, even just a little.

moonie - I'd hate to know what my old swim coach thinks about my form, etc, these days

missy - today? did that newbie arrive today? Amazing you're out there running!

Pacer - I had Chipotle for the first time when I was in MN with B&B. Thought of you.

Yeah, I also had a malt for the first time out there. Shawn, I've skimmed a lot lately, but I saw your reference to that and weirdness

a malt is like a milkshake with malt powder...super yummy

and is one of Baggs' favorite food groups :)
