Geez... they finally got the internet back up here. What do they want me to do... Work?? I tried to post this morning when I got here, but that was when the www went down.

I work in a department with exercise physiologists and one (the one who is running the GR relay on our team) is currently testing the energy expenditure for runners with Baby Joggers! I keep thinking I know people would could be subjects! So if you happen to be in the Grand Rapids area, let me know

I don't remember if it was Maria or Theia that was contemplating a run where the woman was attacked... Did you go or TM-it?

cool.
you know what else was good along that lines? orange julius.
there used to be a dude i went to school with that i didn't like named julius...he didn't like me either after i called him orange julius and told him to get a straw.

Speaking of rain and cooler temps, I am trying to imagine running when it's not so darn hot. LOL. This morning I tried to imagine running in the fall where it's cool......or at least cooler. It's got to feel goooood compared to now.

Just remembered something for 2oh -- dooooode, I'd do RTB as that last female runner in a heartbeat IF I wasn't so dang close to my marathon and dealing with a million mini travels I've got cooking in Sept and Oct. Listen to me now and believe me next Tuesday - I WILL DO A MULTI-LEG RELAY IN 2008. Roar!!!!!!!

Nah, don't eat much of that. I'd say mostly beer, pizza, jelly beans and ice cream.

But, seriously, thanks!

Hmph. I ran 10 miles on a treadmill in honor of you. And you took it outside. <<stomping foot and pouting>>

QOD I am shorts limited, so I'll usually set one pair of used, stinky shorts next to the hamper to dry out, just in case I run out of clean ones before the next load of laundry.

Hey everyone,

Had my root canal finished this morning, so I'm working from home for another hour (until I can catch the train in to work). Might exercise later, depending on the level of pain after the novocaine wears off.

QOD: I generally wash after every run. I fill the washer, let it start agitating, then turn it off for about half an hour to let the clothes soak. This seems to help both my running clothes and kids' clothes that are muddy or food-stained. I let my stuff air-dry, too.

Not much else to say. Still fighting the funk.

Howdy folks!

No run or walk yesterday, just rehearsal. I'm running 1 tonight, as per my sched. Then back to rehearsal. Actually, I have to make tutu #2 after work as well, since the kids will be there tonight, but one mile, even for me, won't take so long. (Nettie! Your tutu will be done shortly as well!)

Litch, that reminds me of me. I'm always calculating stuff in my head. Everyone just passes me the bill to have me come up with the tip. My mother's a math teacher...and a bargain shopper. I had percentages beaten into me!

Maples, you asked a while ago about changing what you eat...have you tried anything new? I know I've said this before, but when I was a kid, my mother used to let us pick out one weird fruit or veg every week to try. Some were weird (bread fruit, yucca) but many were great! Good luck and keep up the good work!

{{{{{Hugs}}}}} to everyone who needs them; sadly it seems like a lot of us.

QOD: can I say it depends on how stinky they are? Usually I wear everything at least twice, and the bras more. I know, gross. I do hang them up to dry. I just wash them with Arm and Hammer detergent and Borax.

I should skedaddle, but I'll be back.

Jumping in quick - as I'm bogged down at work (and w/ the 3 peanut butter / chocolate bars I ate this morning).

Claire...good to see you back! Good luck at the doc's today. Hope you get the answers you need / are looking for.

Ditto Roo.....Ya-ha-whoey!!!! Myron's back!!! Now if only he'd post his Jay report......

I know I'm missing a lot - don't have time to read all the posts.

Thanks, Roo. I was nervous about the 10 miles but they went off pretty well. No pain, cooled down pretty quickly, etc. Thought my recovery run yesterday might have been tough but it wasn't. I'm training for a 1/2 in mid-sept and I'm 4 weeks behind schedule. Plus DH is pitching a fit about me being out of town the weekend of my b-day (same as the ADK 1/2). I did find a 1/2 here in town that same weeknd so maybe I'll do that one.

Odin update (mostly for you Roo)....he made it till 5:30 this a.m. sleeping on the bed w/ us. DH got up to go to bathroom and came back to big wet spot on the bed. Odin had an accident - all the way through 2 sheets, 2 blankets, fitted sheet and matterss pad. Poor guy. I'll be glad when he's off the pred (oh, our washing machine broke Fri night so DH had to go to the laundramat w/ the soiled bedding (3rd trip in 4 days).

I'm getting a bit nervouse b/c this summer most all of my running has been on the tmill - especially longer runs. Wondering if I'll have the mental stamina to do the miles outside.

Morning all,

My ass is dragging today. When I was awake in the middle of the night, I decided that extra sleep was going to be needed to start the day so I killed the alarm for the early morning run. I didn't even get out of bed early enough to walk my daughter down to the bus stop. Oh well, I'll drive her to the bus stop tomorrow on my way to the airport.

So, I have 6 miles on stap for tonight after it gets dark. We have 100 degrees on the forecasted high for today and still no rain. All those who are being flooded we would LOVE to have that rain down here. Seriously, there's been lots of wishfull thinking that a tropical storm, not a hurricane would bring a ton of rain to this region. Some areas are 20 - 24 inches down on yearly rain fall. Now, we're having trouble with trees falling over too easy because of lack of rain. Sheesh!

PC - I'm sure that she'll be fine. My daugther really came out of her shell and is now the social butterfly of the room. I hope you guys get a good teacher! Good luck.

PT - my left leg is a little gimpy too. It started feeling tight in the strangest place during my long run on saturday. The tighness is almost directly behind the knee, on the back side of the leg, very top of the calf. Very strange. I still ran an easy 5 on Sunday and felt really good. After a couple of miles it seems to loosen up a bit. Yesterday was rest day. Today will be east 6 and then tomorrow, mid-week mid-long run 14 miles. I hope it starts feeling better.

QOD - Yeah, I wash all my clothes after one use when I'm at home. The stench is something that I can't stand. I don't know why they smell so bad. And, tech clothing seems to bring the stink out and smack it up in your face! However, when i'm traveling for work, I have had to get two runs out of a set of clothes due to packing restrictions and lack of available washer/dryer. Interestingly, when that does occurr, those clothes earn their own plastic dirty clothes bag. They smell so bad that I won't let them go in the bag with the regular dirty clothes. I'm not sure why, but it's just a quirky thing that I do when I travel.

Um, do you eat anything else? Seriously. That's 4 yogurts by lunch time...don't you get bored?
