Almost feels like a nor'easter out there. Chilly, damp, raw. I kind of kept picking up my pace as it went along, cuz I just wanted to get back, dry and warm.

It was 4 months ago today that I went to a high school track to begin running again. On that first day back, I covered 3 miles in 42:42 by mostly walking and a little running. Today I ran 2.75 miles in 28:49.

Morning EQ, Scratch and the rest of yous who venture in later!

I woke up, but didn't go for my intended early run. I realized at 5:15 am that it really wasn't super necessary, since I'm gonna hit body pump again tonight. My friend thought the class was at 4:30, but it's actually at 5:45. Meaning, plenty of time for a 4 mile TM run at the gym. Might even stretch it to 4.5 in exchange for the extra sleep I got this morning.

Good on you EQ for getting it done this morning, though!!

Got our weekly (boring ass, please don't let Pat speak too much and make it drag on) dept meeting this morning before school. I hate having stuff before school because I prefer to get into my own thing in the morning to get ready for the day. So, skipping the run was a good call since I can get into work a bit early (otherwise I'd probably be a minute or two late...)

Okie dokie. I'm outta here till later! Happy Happy Tuesday!

Morning all,
We bought 2 new leather chairs a week or so ago (Tax free weekend for you MA peeps) and Jordan's gave me a window of 7-11 this morning. The driver called at 6:50 and said he was on his way, so they've already come and gone. At least I won't have to deal with leaving work later to come and let them in.
I wanted to try spinning on Thurs but DH blew a gasket and wants me to wait until next Monday when I have my follow up with the Dr. aaarrrrghhh.
I'm dying for some physical activity over here!
Good job on the track workout Scratch!

Actually, KJ, it wasn't a track workout, it's just an out and back I have that works out to about 2.75 miles. Although if I'm going to want to continue to run in mornings, I'm going to have to move to a track soon because the daylight is getting squeezed down and I'm getting a bit nervous running on PA roads with no shoulders and drivers who are still waking up.

Mornin' gang! I'm back from Cape Breton...finally! I only planned on staying for a couple of weeks but I think I was there for over a month. It's nice to be home in my own space, but I already miss my family. Being here makes me lonely. I wish DH didn't have to work so much. *sigh*

I ran about 5 miles sunday evening...used the route that includes a big hill and didn't stop once going up! Yay!

Got an appointment with the doc today, my first check up since the baby. I have a couple of concerns I hope he can help me with.

KJ...I've been away so I missed a lot around here...what's up with you?

Still plugging along with my runs and rides and stuff! And still going to PT. The shoulder has actually felt really good the last week or so!

I guess that means I need to check in more often!!!

KJ I gotta agree with your DH, you don't want to cause yourself a setback! I know it is hard to hold back but it really is the best thing for ya!!

Clare Hey Momma!!!! So good to see you! And great that you are back on the wagon, sounds like a great run!!!

Hey all. This is fun... I called out sick today so that I could go to my next job interview. Heh. It meant I got to sleep in a little, and I've still got some time to goof off before I have to leave. And then I should have quite a bit of free time this afternoon. Too bad the weather is so crappy...

Yesterday was my toughest workout of the week (9 mile tempo run), and today is just an east 3. I suppose I might get it done on the TM at the gym, just to avoid the rain. We'll see.

Well, have a great day, folks. Once again I'll say Good Job to those of you who get your runs done first thing in the morning. I can't do that, even when I don't have anywhere to be until 10am...

Ugh! The rain! I planned on waking up for a hilly run today (I'm trying to learn to love them.) Well, I guess it's a TM day for me.

Gotta run to Best Buy for a new router. DH is getting pissed that I'm borrowing his computer (especially since he is working from home this week.)

Have a good day all!

Morning gang. I've already dealt with a puking dog, a puking daughter and no internet connection this morning. Yeah, it's 8:30, what's next? Obviously, I managed to fix the internet connection. DD and the dog are both sleeping it off. Hopefully we won't have any repeats.

In case anyone remembers, the hammy is much better. I'm still taking it slow as a precaution, but overall I think I'm on the mend. I'm still 1 day behind on my training plan, but I think I will double up today to catch up. We'll see.

Hope I haven't missed anything major here. I've been missing you all! I'm going to skim a few threads and see what's going on with all of you. I'll probably be in and out today while DD sleeps.

Later!
Frankie - Sorry about your craptastic day. Hopefully today is much improved, and that you had no intruding critters last night.

Solar - Peace to your gramma and your family.

Scratch - superb progress.

Hi Claire

Beaker - glad the shoulder is improving.

Amy - hope your day improves.

Animals on trails - After reading the end of last night's thread, I was thinking about this. When I run near work, I do not see much. There is one loop I run down on a beach by LI Sound where I usually see a lot of rabbits, some cranes and egrets, etc. (although I did see a dead rat down there last week in front of a multi-million $$ house - ewww.) On some of my loops in the hinterlands where I live, I see all sorts of good stuff. Wild turkeys, tons of frogs, deer, woodchocks, beavers, horses (on farms), vultures, etc.

Running - got in my tempo run for the week - 8 miles, 4 at tempo pace. I am just one mile shy from a new high monthly milage, and there is still 10 days left in the month. woo hoo. I realize that my monthly max is only a typical week for baggs (103), but still - at this time last year I was not running at all.

QODY - general geekiness, the fact that I once had Rain Man like math skills. (Seemed to have lost that now that I am out of Engineering, but my MIL still likes to recall that I figured out to teh dollar how much our wedding reception would cost in my head.)

Good morning everyone!

8.75 hilly miles this morning in beautiful weather. Only planned to go 7 but a really good running song popped up on my iPod and I just had to run until it was over, then another one, then another...

Prayers and healing vibes out to Jarod's Uncle, Theia's Friend's Mom and Solar's Grandmother.

Frankie, that's rotten news about your jaw and your insurance. Hope your DW is OK today.

Bob, good luck with your interview! Nettie, hope you get some good news!

Welcome, Jennifer! Sounds like you fit right in!

Clare, great job on the 5-miler! Hope your visit to the Dr goes OK.

KJ, take care. I hate being sidelined too. I get so cranky that my DH prays for a quick recovery whenever I have to stop running for some reason.

Gotta run! Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning everyone!

I've been on away from the board for a while due to work etc. ughhhh

I'm fighting off a cold... which has been pretty miserable... it's not a horrible cold, no real fevers or coughing... but being stuffed up in this humidity is not fun at all. I took Saturday off due to the cold. Managed 10 slow miles on Sunday... took yesterday off, and the verdict is out on weather or not I'll run today.

I have a half marathon scheduled for Saturday, so it's likely that I'll take it easy on that race, and make it a long easy run instead of a hard effort.

I've pretty much abandoned the idea of heading up to Wineglass this year with work and spotty training. Instead, I think I'll focus on Richmond, hometown race and all, and try to BQ there. My runs have been spotty lately in that, I'll have a good run, then a not so good run... but one thing I've noticed... the good runs seem to be on days with a lower humidity, so I"m really thinking a lot of my sucky training has been somewhat weather related.

Morning, everyone.

I'm trashed - not in the drunken way but in the "I'm sleepy and had a tough workout this morning" way. 12 miles with my short intervals (12 x 25 seconds sub 5k pace, 1 min recovery) in the middle of it. I probably ran the 4-5 miles before and after the intervals a little too hard because I'm beat! No run @ lunch today and an easy day tomorrow so I'll be ready to go again on my hard Thurs workout. And it's only week #2 of NYC training!

Myron Good to see you back - which half are you doing this weekend? Did you ever post a Jay report?

KJ I missed the post - what are sidelined with?

We meet my daughter's first grade teacher today and check out the school - thankfully she is excited which is huge because it's a new school (public school versus the $7500 private school she'd been going to!) We live ina great school district but it's a big school and my daughter can be a bit shy so we're a little concerned. I'm sure she'll do fine but it'snerve-wracking...good thing I drink heavily so I'm not as concerned as my wife!

Theia - not sure what I'd do, but I know I'd call the local law enforcement and see what they're doing to increase patrols in the area!

Frankie - hope the surgery goes well.

Nettie - hope the interview went well.

Bob - good luck with your interview too.

DD is up again - so this is it for now (top of pg 6, yesterday's thread, only a week to go!)

Hello!
Vibes out to Solar, KJ, Frankie, Flem, Theia's friend, Beaker

Good interview vibes out to Bob, and belated to Nettie Hope you both get some good news this week!!

Scratch it's wonderful to hear about your progress!

I walked 2 miles last night, and intended on running 2 miles tonight. I am still registered for the Des Moines 1/2 marathon, as I have said off-line that it's not the 1/2 marathon debute I wanted to make, but it will have to do. I wanted to bag it, but my girlfriend from high school wanted to walk it. So we settled on some walking and some running. My hip has been feeling better, I started doing the exercises they gave me last year in PT, looks like they may be working, we will see when my runs start getting up there again.

Tonight is my 3 yo's open house for preschool. This is a tough month for me, my oldest is going to kindergarten and he has a loose tooth, and my youngest starts preschool, my boys are growing up fast!!

good morning!

I got in 10 this morning slower than I wanted. The humidity was high and with a "long" run on Sunday and speedwork yesterday....my legs were toast. Blah.

I'll check back later!

Morning Gang!

Well, I've decided that I can take responsibility for the rain and cold weather in Northern MN (Ain't NO way I'm taking it for southern MN, though, uh huh.) We've got the guy all ready to paint the house. They power washed it and the garage and the decks last week, waited the week-end so the logs could dry, were gonna start yesterday. . .

At least we don't have to pay him until it's done. Yay interest! Or something like that.

Scratch What a great snapshot of your progress! Congratulations!

Got in my 4 mile run last night with hill repeats and it was awesome. (good grief I wish I had know THIS Mary years ago! ) Today is a rest day - and hopefully a date night.

I have extra hugs today so if you're needing some - they're yours!

Have great days, folks!
