Hey all:

We are in a monsoon this morning. Scratch, good for you for getting out. I will see how it looks tonight.

Left calf is a little gimpy, so whatever run I do tonight will likely be ez.

PC - nice run

Myron - welcome back.

Solar - good luck with your grandmom

Jill - I just looked when you said about the weather and saw you were local. Hey! You and Heather are almost neighbors.

Count me in with the wet running crowd this a.m. I got a nicely paced 10 miles in light rain and 60* temps. I felt so relaxed and so solid at the same time. My body sure does like coming back after rest days. Planning to get to the gym after work for 4 more miles (likely w/intervals) and some weights work.

Good luck at the follow-up interview boB!

Voo - good on you for getting that run done last night and outdoors! I knew you'd make it happen.

((((Solar's G'ma))))

Hello Colleen & Myron - we missed you guys!!!

You sound like Mrs Tim Last night after the kids were in bed there was a lot of 'my babies are growing up too fast... Next year RJ will be starting Kindergarten and they will all be in school.....

You posted this last night and asked if it means you are nuts. The answer is no - it means you are an athlete.

Good morning!

Ran 3 miles indoors yesterday, all the while I was whining to myself that I should have run outside, rain or no. OTOH, I tend to push myself harder on the indoor track than I do outside, so the 3 miles were relatively speedy for me which is all good. No run today.

Good to see both Colleen and Myron today. Bob, good luck on the interview.

BBL...

I'm signed up for the first ever "Patrick Henry Half Marathon" it should be reasonably small - about 1500 runners (compared to Rock N Roll in VA Beach Labor Day weekend). The race is in Ashland, VA just outside of Richmond. It's actually where Patrick Henry's homestead is. If I'm feeling better, I'd like to run it hard, it's a good course - rolling at the start, one big hill at mile 5, then flat for 4 miles, then rolling at the finish. Tech-shirts and medals for the finishers.

I haven't posted my Jay report yet. I've been slack...

Just hung out some laundry. Which brings me to a QOD: Do you wash your running clothes after every run...or do you try and get a couple of runs out of some things? What do you use to get them nice and clean and smelling good? I'm still looking for something that gets my shirts nice, especially the tech ones, which seem to hold odor for some odd reason.

I had surgery 3 weeks ago and the doc told me no running for 4 weeks- I'm cranky.
Stinky clothes- wash them every single time. I bought that "Penguin" stuff that is good for getting tech stuff clean.

oh. . .wow. . .thank you.

I'm still giddy over the whole actually doing it-not having-it-kill-me-and-having-something-left-over feeling.

I think that's pretty cool

Boy today was a battle. OHR w1d1. Even though it was just the same time as last week I was struggling. Simply put I just didn't enjoy this morning's run but I made myself do it anyway. Sort of stuffy, not hot but no air blowing at all. I just felt blah. But we've all been there and done that. I think I might have a slight sinus headache. All said I got my required workout completed and after 2 asprin and a glass of water I am at work ready for the day.

Oh and after yesterday's discovery of nearly an inch lost around the waistline, I measured myself and wrote down the figures and will measure again in a month to see my progress. I really hope I can use that to be motivated to do a better job controlling myself at the dinner table. If I even just consumed smaller portions and kept the same diet I would greatly benefit and lose weight. Anyhow, that's a new battle.

QOD- I typically wash them each time, but I have run in unwashed clothes. Usually not when it's a group run though.

QOD - After allowing my clothes to dry out post-run, I give 'em the old sniff test. If an item passes, it goes into the wear-next-run pile, otherwise they get dumped into the laundry bag. I use regular detergent on mine and find it works pretty well at defunktifying (it's the concentrated Method detergent from Target).

Claire Mine get so soaked that I have to wash them. At work, we have a washing machine and dryer so 2 hours after a lunch run my stuff is clean. At home, those can get a little ripe.
I've heard that technical shirts can hold the stench pretty good and you're supposed to air dry them. I've not done that but I think the dryer burns some stink in there or something. I've never bothered - I get so many technical shirts they can be disposable to me after a few months!

First things first, here....
YAY MYRON IS BACK !!!!!

Staci came out to play in the sandbox yesterday and I missed it. Damn.
Voo's Tonage: Bologna.
Meeting thread friends. I totally get that. I met Staci and Jen by packing up my gear and cramming in a totally cool super spy furniture teeny tiny room for a weekend. While logically, I knew that could have gone 800 kinds of bad, it was like getting together with family- which indeed it turned out to be. As to Moon and Voo getting on like that...having met them both, I'll second that notion that they are 2 amazing, sweet dudes so it makes sense....
Sara: I forgot to give you the for your long run this week. You're really knocking them down.
Scratch: Strawberry again.

(((((Love to flooded people))))
We seem to be getting the left overs. Its soaking here and has been raining since yesterday. If I weren't on the DL I'd be looking for a TM....

Hey, Roo, it was apple turnover and key lime for the post-run yogurt festivities this morning. I've since had a vanilla yogurt to start off work and will have another apple turnover serving for lunch. This is a good yogurt day.

Obviously she gets that from her dad!

Mornin' all!!

Myron, great to see ya! Sorry to hear about the cold and spotty training.

Nice run, Melanie! Those extra miles are just so gravy, aren't they? I think it actually makes them easier since they're a bonus.

Not sure what I'm going to run today. I'd like to either do a 6-7-miler at lunch and another after work or go for 10-13 miles after work. I've brought two pairs of shoes and two sets of running clothes to be prepared since it's raining again today.

2oh, just wanted to clarify something from last night. I've not done a 70-mile week. You must be confusing me with the Mighty Marier. I'm trying to get there, but the most I've done in a week is 56.2 miles.

Amichel, good luck with the hammy. Careful on catching up, especially if it's just one lousy day.

QOD: Like Marier, mine get the sniff test. I don't wear tech t-shirts more than once, though. Not sure the last time I even wore a shirt to run in. Shorts I'll wear a few times before washing. And I'll even wear socks twice before chucking them in the hamper. Although one long run and they're done. And I just use regular detergent. Seems to do a fine job.

QOD my stinky clothes go straight to the dirty clothes hamper to be washed. They don't get a second lease on life after they dry out- I don't hate anyone that much as to wear them again without washing

have you had the orange creme one? i dunno. it violates my 'makes purple thing' but so did the apple turnover and that was good....

Oh. And QOD: I usually toss them in the laundry and wash them. Occassionally, I'll wear my shorts again if Im pressed. I just use regular non toxic/biodegradable type detergent and i guess it works fine. I don't have any tech shirts though. Sheesh. Now I'll worry.
